  1. I have a 2.5 and have replaced the awful brakes with Boxtser S brakes. I quite fancy getting some Cheap 16" wheels, put some R888's on them and keeping them as trackday wheels. Does anyone know if they will fit over S calipers? M
  2. I have got hold of some Genuine 996 calipers for a great price :D I would like to get them repainted, refurbed with new seals etc, anyone know a company who I can post them to to get this done within the UK?
  3. EBAY LINK Has anyone come accross these before?, the exchange rate makes them quite tempting ;)
  4. Hi, never really posted on here but there seems to be alot of technical knowledge here so seems a good place to look for help! The car is a 99 2.5, she does alot of trackdays and alot of driving at the Nurburgring where she can get round in just over 9 mins. :D I am really struggling with the brakes and in particular deposits on the discs leading to lots of vibration through the pedal. I know its deposits because after a trackday the deposits will slowly wear off and the brakes will return to normal until the next trackday. I have tried all sorts of pads from the standard textars to Pagid RS14's and nothing works. I have now decided to bite the bullet and upgrade the brakes to "S" specification. So the question is - Will the Boxster S / 996 Calipers and discs (rotors) bolt straight on front and rear or do I have to change hubs etc?
  5. LAZ, did you get anywhere with this? its driving me f%^*ng mental and has cost me a fortune!!!! :cursing: , have replaced front drop links, RHS suspension arm and engine mount. Same thing, only when car is hot. :censored:
  6. Going "pop" is a UK expression, I appreciate it is likely to start slipping first, I was just hoping that there was an inspection cover so I could take a look at the clutch as I dont want it to ruin my trip.
  7. On some vehicles there is. But not on a Boxster. Sure there is! When you drive does it slip? no? clutch is fine enjoy. Thanks for responses, will chance it then, if clutch goes pop on my trip I will obvoiusly be back to split the cost of cancelled hotels etc with you all
  8. Wow, thats a quality clutch! has helped put my mind at ease.
  9. I have a boxster 2.5 (1999) - I have had it for a couple of months and aside from a few teething problems it has been a joy. I have a trip planned in May which will take me from London to Paris then Paris to the Nurburgring and home, some 1200 odd miles in total It has 64,000 miles on the clock and is still on the original clutch!!! Other than a heavyish pedal the clutch is fine, not slipping, not juddering and managed a recent track day no problems. I am a bit nervous about setting off on a 1200 mile trip witha 64K mile old clutch though, is there an inspection cover or similar on the box that would allow a specialist to see the thickness of the linings and general condition of the clutch? Otherwise I may have to just replace it for peace of mind :cursing:
  10. Right, did my first track day in the boxster yesterday at Brands... Awesome handling, unbelievable balance, I finally own a car that does not understeer at the first sniff of a corner :clapping: I still need more noise, and maybe a bit more power  Sorry Jmatta, I am not convinced by the bypass exhaust, and am looking for an aftermarket exhaust thats within the 100db limit set by most trackdays. Any one with any recommendations, preferably around the £500 mark (inc fitting)
  11. listned to it on the soundfile, sounds lovely but 280GBP seems alot to pay for a second hand exhaust! (or muffler as you say in the states) ;)
  12. Hello all, I have a 99 2.5 Box, that I have had for about 2 months now. It goes well and the handling is wonderful, but it just doesnt sound like a porsche! Trackday noise limits are quite restrictive in the UK and I need an exhaust that sounds nice and fruity but wont exceed 100db so I wont get turned away at trackdays. My friends 993 c4 just about passes the 100db test and that sound loverrly so I know i have a few db's to play with. I dont want to do the snorkle mod as it gets used in all weathers Any recommendations from other trackday goers?
  13. If you find out what it is please let me know, I have replaced drop links, RHS suspension arm, gearbox mount and still no joy!!!
