  1. Thanks Loren, most appreciated! Just would like it to sound a little more meaty!
  2. Hey All, What are everyones thoughts and experience with aftermarket performance mufflers?? I have read a lot of positive and negative stuff in different posts but was wondering if i could pick everyones brains one last time! Like previous posts i am after "the sound" but a few BHP would be nice as well! I am not expecting big gains but 5+ would be nice. My lines of thought are either - Standard Muffler and install cat-bypass pipes - Performance Muffler from Borla/Dansk/Stebro (does anyone have any experience with any of these) and keep the rest bog standard Any help or points of view gratefully received. Thanks Gristy 2000 2.7 Boxster
  3. Hey All, Does anyone have any recommendations/experience with swapping out the front bumper on a 986 for something a bit more aggressive? I have seen a couple of aftermarket options but was wondering what peoples personal experiences were so i could decide on how to proceed. I have seen a couple of "OEM complete replacements" where they have replaced the lights and bumper with OEM 996 turbo parts and the more common boxster lights/after market bumper but i haven't found much on the quality of the aftermarket ones. Cheers Martin :renntech:
  4. That night i turned off the A/C and this morning waited until the normal "emissions hiss" had gone - about a minute? Seemed much better at pull off - not sure if that will help anyone. I am obviously way out of warranty so would you say it was worth changing the engine mount? Thanks to everyone for all the input, i love my Boxster!! Will be sure to post and help when i can. Loren, thanks for the Glossary tip, will also check out the throttle butterfly that you mentioned - off to find a service manual....
  5. Sorry but i did say i was a newbie, how/what is an egas car???
  6. Thanks for the quick response! You don't think i should worry about the gear change thing then? I saw somewhere that it could be an engine mount (front/rear?) if it was really noticeable, any thoughts? Thanks for the stuff on the cold start, might be an excuse for some new intake's!!
  7. Hey All, I am a newbie Boxster owner. I love the car to bits, 2000 2.7 Boxster, 40k and full Porsche service history. Recently when i change gear it really seems to jerk, almost like i am dumping the clutch. The strange part is it only seems to do it when i short shift, leaving my change a little later the change isn't so noticeable. I am hoping that its just a figment of my imagination or that i am being over critical but any advice or things to check would be most appreciated. I am not sure if its related but i have also noticed that the car wants to stall when started first thing in the morning. I used to ride bike's so i am retentive and warm the car up before driving but it still does it. Any ideas guys?? Thanks Martin
  8. hey, sorry - first post and new boxster owner, very excited! I am having a similar problem. It changes gear "fine" but not that smooth and not what i would expect, this mainly rears its head changing from first to second. I have been trying to resolve the issue myself and found something on another site about possible bad shifting being caused by a worn front engine mount???? Like i said, total newbie and i haven't explored this on my boxster yet.... Does anyone have any experience with this being the cause?? gristy 2.7 2000 Arctic Silver Boxster No mods - as yet!
