Hello guys, I started a thread before, on how to make the Boxster more comfortable and safe for tall drivers (I am 6’4’’). I received very good input and it seems that the best way to avoid hitting the head on the roll-bars would be to buy the GT3 seats and the BK brackets. The problem is my wife is much shorter than me and the changes would make the car very hard to drive for her on a weekly basis. Nevertheless, I wanted to be able to take some DE training and I am positive I will not pass the Broomstick test with my current setup. I am then looking for a relatively inexpensive and hopefully not so complex way to fit my car for the track and then reverse the process. I am considering getting a driver’s seat – velour Recaro Pole Position without the Porsche emblem, since the regular one looks less expensive (around $600) and the BK brackets. Take the DE training with the seats and then reverse the process. Also I can keep both for future events. Does anyone else have different suggestions? Thanks once more, Gustavo :renntech:

Hi guys, I love my 2001 Boxster, but I would like to be able to hear the engine a little bit more than I currently do...It is a very pleasant cound and I would like to "amplify it". Hi Paul, I currently have the comfort seats and I have been putting them all the way down...My main concern is definetly the roll bars. I can deal with the leg room... Do you guys suggest the GT3 seats or the roll bar extension? How many extra inches am I gonna get with the extension. BTW if any of you know a little more about the tall man's seat bracket I would appreciate. Thank you for all the help I have been getting. Gustavo

Thanks for the input James, Yeah, unfortunately I have not found much on the topic either. I don't have the full power seats and I already set the vertical position to the lowest. I will see how it feels to keep the seat a little forward. In the mean time if I find a solution I will keep you posted. Regards, Gustavo

:lightbulb: Hi guys, I proudly own a 2001 Boxster and last week I had the chance to test drive a 2007 987 and I noticed there is considerably more leg room. Since I am a 6’4’’ driver and a 987 is at least 3 years down the road, I was wondering if any taller driver has had any idea on how to make the drive even more comfortable in a 986. I though about adapting the seat “trails” or even replacing the seats. I also noticed that my head almost touches the roll bars and I don’t know how safe that is. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Hi Andy, Thanks for your advice. Last time we spoke I had just ordered the Focals 130 CA for the doors. I installed them and didn’t get much improvement in the bass (as expected, considered the OEM amp). I am however planning to acquire the Harvey’s Rear Kit next and hook them up to the Becker CDR 220. Later I will get a Kenwood KSC-SW1 and let the doors play full spectrum. Finally I am thinking (not sure) about getting a Nakamichi CD 500 to replace the old Becker. My question is basically on the choice of amplifier: - Do I necessarily need to get a 5 to 6 channel amp, or is there any setup I can go for which will allow me to power the dash, doors, rear and sub (this is already amplified) with a 4 channel amp and the head unit. I know I don’t need much power (but rather clean signal) for the rear speakers and the sub is already amplified? My concern with the 6-ch amp is the space they take and the price they go for. - Do you have any suggestions on a 4-ch amp or a reasonably sized 6-ch (id I need to go this route) which would fit in the front trunk with out much modification or taking a lot of space? Hi all, I need some expert advice.... A friend of mine recently sold his Boxster and kept the hardtop to sell at a later date. His car was a '97 Boxster and I have a 2001 Boxster. I was wondering if his hardtop would fit my car. I will need to have it painted, since his car was Red and mine is Black. Does anyone know if it would fit and whether it is a DIY job? Hi LP, I just had the same problem in my ’01 Boxster this weekend – all of a sudden, the turn signal is not resetting automatically on the left turn and the turn signal switch is not locking when I try to signal a right turn. I further noticed that the dash speakers are 2 ohm while the doors are 4 ohm. Can that have any impact on the results I am getting now? Should I have replaced the door speakers with 2ohm’s coaxials based on the current amp I have HAES (4X40w non DSP). I don’t have the specs for it… The other question I have is what amp should I chose (or what specs should I look) as I chose the replacement for my current HAES, based on the speakers I replaced (specs) below? Hi guys, I need your expert advice on the audio upgrade of my ‘01 Boxster with a 220 factory CD player and a 4 channel HAES amplifier. I plan on replacing the (1) door speakers and (2) the amplifier and then (3) installing a free air 10’’ subwoofer (in this order). I already replaced the dash speakers with 4’’ Infinity Kappa 42.7 I and it made a big change. I am budget conscious, since I just finished paying for my car and I am looking for clarity rather than power…I would also like to keep the OEM look. My questions are: - Is it worth it to adapt the doors and install 6 ½” drivers rather than simply replacing the speakers with 5-1/4" speakers? I have been suggested Kicker 055KS525, will these do the job? I will probably be doing it myself and I am not really experienced in custom installations. - When installing the new amplifier, will I need to run additional wires through the doors or can I simply keep the wiring I already have? I am asking that because I realize the current amplifier allows the door speaker to play only Bass and I am not sure whether I will need additional wiring to reproduce mids and tweeters. If I need additional wiring I will probably run them when I open the doors to install the new speakers… - Does anyone know of any 4 to 6 channel amplifier which can be installed with minimum space commitments and yet is not very expensive… I looked at the new Alpine PDX-4.150, but it is way beyond my budget, despite its compact design - Any suggestion on what to get and where to install the 10’’ sub?
