  1. What shop did you use for the powder coat on your wheels and do you have pictures of them yet? I'm in the PHX area too and would like to see the results. Lyn
  2. Toolpants, I'm referring to the outer plastic cover. When the lights are on, the inside of the headlite cover looks pitted like it might have been in a minor dust storm. The outside face is smooth to the touch and there are no brown spots. I did a sanity check on one of them and tried Diamondite to make sure that I wasn't overlooking fine pitting, but it's obviously on the inside. Are these units sealed? Thx, Lyn
  3. The inside of the headlight lenses of my Boxster look to be sand pitted, but that doesn't seem likley given that they are sealed. Have any of you seen the same condition and if so, how did you deal with it. It is not noticeable until you turn on the lights. Thx, Lyn
  4. Is the CDR23 head unit out of a 2003 Carrera the same unt as the CDR23 from a 2003 Boxster? Thx, Lyn
  5. I'm in Phoenix and I use my 2003S as a daily driver. It's been as high as 111 this week and sitting in traffic with the AC on, the needle sits just to the right of the 180 mark on the guage and it will move left back towards the 180 mark when I'm moving. I've got some leaves in my radiator area that I will be cleaning out this weekend and I expect that might let it run even cooler on these hot days. My 2 cents worth would be that if you're running close to that 250 mark, you need to figure out why before you overheat it. Lyn
  6. I should have thought of that. My on board computer isn't activated but all of the components with the exception of the steering column stock are there. Thx for the input. Lyn
  7. There's an electrical sensor of some kind located in the right side radiator cooling duct in my 2003S and I don't have a clue as to what it is for. I'm sure that it is something obvious, so input from those more knowledgable than me would be appreciated. Thx, Lyn
  8. I've done a Forum search and really couldn't find an answer so I'll pose it here and hope it's not an old subject. The pads on my 03 Boxster S are likely originals and hard as a rock. I'm not overly impressed with their stopping power even in moderate street driving, so it's time to replace them. There are so many different aftermarket brands out there that I don't have a clue as to what works best. I'm looking for a good solid street pad that generates a minimum of dust if you can have both worlds. Any input is appreciated. Lyn
  9. Have any of you tried relocating the rocker switches on the dash? I want to move the convertible top switch from one side to the other so that it is closer to the sterring wheel, but don't know if there is enough slack in the wiring hartness to do so. Thx, Lyn
  10. Do any of you know if the CDR23 from a Cayenne is interchangacble with the CDR23 from a Boxster? I want to replace the one in my 2003 Boxster, but most of the ones I see for sale are listed as being from cayennes. Thx, Lyn
  11. Mine rattled too and I couldn't see why until I noted that the plastic 'spring' inside the bracket was broken. I replaced the brackets to fix the problem, but after driving for a while without the screen in, I decided there wasn't a lot of difference with or without it. A little more buffeting at the back of your head, but so what it's a convertible and convertibles are breezy. Lyn
  12. Guess I'll chime in too. I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam and I'm a really tight fit in my 2003S. I put 2003 factory 996 GT3 seats in my Boxster late last year because the stock Boxster heated seats are like sitting on a brick. The GT3 seats are significantly more comforatable and are heated too. The bolsters are higher and the seatback seems more supportative and the two give the illusion of more room. I also put the GT3 console delete center kit in too and that was the biggest improvement. That center stack interferes a lot with taller driver's kneeroom and getting it out of the way really helps. I worry about the rollbar/ seat height relationship, but mitigate it a bit by raising the seat just slightly. I've also found that driving without shoes seems almost the same as adding legroom. Anyone 6" or over tall has big feet and the Boxster footwell is small. Those cute little driving shoes aren't much better than bare feet in times of stress, so the extra room gained by taking off your shoes isn't much of a compromise on the street. Lyn
  13. Anyone interested in a set of 2003 OEM AERO side skirts in Cobalt Blue?? I would be willing to trade for a set of stock side skirts, in the same color, as long as I didn't have any shipping costs. Lyn
  14. Nice ride Blaine. I own it's virtual twin with the only difference being I have the aero side skirts. Lyn
  15. I have the same need for info on how to replace the entire visor assembly Bruce does. Suncoast sells replacement visors with or without lighting and without the opffensive decals. Lyn
  16. Chuck, How much do you want for your CDR23? Lyn
  17. Thank you Loren. I was concerned that I would have to buy the whole tool kit. Lyn
  18. That seems to be the one missing item from my tool kit and if anyone has an extra one they would be willing to part with..............................? Thx, Lyn
  19. I went through the same decision making process and went the Bridgestone A050 route on my 2003S. I had P-Zeros on it and hated them, too noisy and they felt unstable in the corners. I narrowed down the choices either A050s, or PS2s and chose the Bridgestones based on input from the TireRack. The PS2s wear much faster and the majority of my driving is on the street. Longer term wear became the tie breaker and I haven't been disapointed with the choice. Lyn
  20. Loren, I'm not quite sure that I understand what the attachments you included mean? Where is the sensor located and is it easier to replace it than test it? Thx, Lyn
  21. The original orange colored instrument backlighting in my 2003S seems pretty dim even when turned full bright. Doesn't appear to be a burned out bulb, as the lighting is even across the cluster. I haven't been able to locate a hack that identifies a specific fix for this issue, although changing the color might be a solution. If any of you have any "bright" ideas, input would be appreciated. Thx, Lyn
  22. Thx Glyn for the injection of a little common sense out of the UK. I put over 150K miles on my 356B downshifting as a practice on the original clutch and 70+K on my 911T driving in the same fashion. I expect the cluth in my 03 Boxster S to be just as reliable. Most folks do far more damage slipping the clutch on uphill starts, or by riding the clutch with their left foot than will ever be done by dowshifting to slow down. Lyn
  23. Gawd I hate to ask this, considering all the DIY posts there are, but none of them seem to address to a 2003-2004 Boxster. The body colored side vents on my 2003 S are a bit of a different configuration than the earlier cars and I am having trouble removing mine. I know, remove the screw and push in on the bottom left etc., but that doesn't seem to work. The bottom edge is very stiff and has no flexibility or give, so there is no pushing it inward. The top will start to come out to a 1/4" or so, but then it seems that any more force might break the part and I don't need that. All this being said, do any of you have experience de-snorkling a 2003 or 2004? Thx, Lyn
