  1. Interesting- seems really high for a car that is now 3 model years old- that would indicate a fairly low depreciation factor. Of course, its also asking prices, which I presume would be 10-15 % higher than what could be negotiated Thanks
  2. Thinking about selling my 2005 997.1 base C2 coupe and buying a 1-2 year old 991 base C2 coupe. Two questions- how hard will it be to find a used 991 that is "lightly optioned"? and, would a target price of about $ 60,000 be realistic? Thanks guys.
  3. Car was never tracked, it was maintained religiously by a local Porsche dealer, and was generally "babied" for the seven years of my ownership. If fact, the car had its annual service done at the dealership two weeks before the incident. I was driving to work at about 40 mph- terrible grinding sound starting coming from engine bay- car stalled, "check engine visit workshop" message displayed, oil trail on road behind car and remaining oil was dumping on shoulder of road as I pulled to side Please be warned and take action before you are in my position- in need of a $25,000 replacement engine for which Porsche will contribute 25%
  4. Thanks for the thoughts. Since I did not purchase the car new, I am told Porsche will only cover 25% of the replacement cost for the engine.
  5. 05 Carrera 50k miles, all services performed. IMS bearing failed yesterday. What is my recourse with pore she or other options ? Very angry at the moment
  6. After running Michelin PS's on my 997 for 4 years, I took the plunge and moved to the Hankook Ventus, primarily based on the Car & Driver test. I can't comment on treadwear yet, but they ar equieter than the Michelin's and based on my relatively conservative driving style--- there is no difference whatsoever in handling braking, wet or dry. I almost succombed to the old argument "it is a 911, you should put on the best", bu tin the end went for it. I amvery satisfied at spending only $ 800 for 4 new tires Mike
