  1. I've got the exact same 2000 Boxster S (in Canada) with 37,500 mi and my car gets 26mpg at best. When I'm messing around in the city (i.e bouncing off the rev limiter I get about 18mpg) Like the old story goes, you have to pay the cost to be the boss.

An S2000 would have had much greater reliability and fuel economy, but at the end of the day you'd be driving a Honda, just like your neighbors in their Odyssey and 5 kids.

  2. Hey.....cracked the back window in my 2000 'S' today and was thinking about getting a glass window replacement top.

You are saying you replaced your plastic window for less than $30?? That's crazy! Did you sew the window in yourself? Where did you buy the plastic replacement window and how did you fit it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  3. I think it is normal, but I know some would disagree and blah blah blah about the transmission should work perfect always. The colder it gets, the more difficult 2nd gear will be until the powertrain wams up. But I have the same exact behavior on 3 diferent 996s.

Same exact thing on my 2000 Boxster S in Canada. Cold mornings remind me of a bad synchro mesh I had in my diesel Jetta going into second.

  4. I installed satellite radio on my 00' Boxster S and used the pre wired cell phone harness for power. I accidently shorted the fuse and for the next two weeks when putting fuel in my car, the gas tank would 'throw up' the fuel, allowing for only short, VERY SLOW fill up attempts. After reading the forum and checking fuse E6, I had discovered that this was causing the whole problem. A 75cent fuse was causing a MAJOR problem in a $75,000 car.

This forum has saved me over and over......also with my MAF sensor, which a Canadian dealer wanted $800 to replace ($560 for the sensor). I bought the sensor from Suncoast Porsche for $260, installed it myself (in 10 minutes) and then had Porsche reflash my ECU ($75) to recognize the new sensor. Saved over $400 with DIY.

Please message me if you have any questions about either of these two subjects.
