  1. What mods to give you such a nice increase?
  2. Mustang Dyno? CW is 15-20%. I don't think anyone except Porsche knows the true number, at least I've never heard anyone state it with conviction. I dyno'd my '04 (MkII) at 323 rwhp. Given a 15% drivetrain loss, that's 380 hp, which is near enough the Porsche number.
  3. I have the Cargraphics mufflers, and love them. One of the local guys heard it, and bought the same, so I know of two satisfied customers. Best is to find others with the different systems to listen to them yourself. Sound clips don't tell the story, and everyone will tell you they love the particular system they bought.

  7. Thanks for your help Richard. I presume the mirror glass just needs a tug or did you lever them out with a srewdriver? On Rennlist, search for shop manual/repair manual. You'll find a link to said manuals. I have it on my home PC, but not here at the office.
  8. I had my dealer retrofit cc onto my '04 GT3. Don't know why that couldn't be done to yours. From the repair order: Parts: 1 996-613-219-10-EWC, Column switch assy 1 PNA-721-043-00-040, Repair set K - #9600 2 PNA-721-043-00-063, Repair set 03 - #960 10 999-513-007-40, Tie-wraps ($2.45 ea!!!, what a crock!!) 1 PNA-721-043-00-122, Electrical housing #960122 $343 in parts, $225 in labor NOTES: Installed column switch, and fabricated wiring harness. Coded and verified operations

  10. Not the cup wing, just the CF RS wing. Anyway, I just sent an email to TGR attn Austin to see what they can do. Appreciate the info! FYI, Austin has left TRG. Don't know if that's immediate or not. If you don't hear from him relatively quickly, contact Bob Brooks <vbmotorsports@gmail.com> who is now located in FL. I used to do all my business with Bob, and will do so again now that I don't have a local contact.
  11. Mine is an '04. I don't understand the issue. The RS cf blad fits on there. Are you looking to replace it with a Cup wing. BTW, doesn't sound like the dealer knew what you wanted, or didn't know what he was talking about.
  12. I assume by your comments that you don't want to buy the OE RS wing? Too expensive? If that's not the case, and you will buy the OE piece, see if Austin at TRG can get you one. As I understand it, they're tough to find. Look on Rennlist and 6speedonline for any sellers. Mine is not for sale. :)
  13. Sorry - edited my post now. OBC = On-board computer (shows temp., fuel mileage, avg. speed etc.). So, similar to the info I get from a Durametric device?
  14. No DIY pics, but it's really very easy. -Get the car up on jackstands, rear only needed. -Support the engine in its center by jacking it up just a bit. Use a wood block between the jack and the engine case. -From under the car, remove the 19 mm nut from the OE mount -From above, the mount has two 13 mm bolts holding it in place. Remove these, and the mount comes right out. -Insert the WEVO mount as provided, that is, keep the washer against the elastomeric pillow, and between it and the mounting crossbar (which I did not do) -Use the original 13 mm bolts to hold the WEVO mount in place. -Back under, and use the nut (and one of your own washers, I'd assume) to secure it all. Torque spec is 63 ft-lb. -I left the upper bolts just snug until the bottom nut was tightened. -Tighten up the top 13 mm bolts (46 ft-lb, I believe) Took me 45 minutes the first time, only 30 minutes the second. Someone pointed out to me there is a DIY with pics at P-car DIY. I looked at it, and it pretty well explains it all. The only difference is that it is for the RS mount not the WEVO. And, in my case, there were no obstructions at all in getting my mounts out or in. See http://p-car.com/diy/motormount/
  15. My bad. :rolleyes: It appears I misassembled/misinstalled the WEVO mounts. The kit comes with a bolt, a washer and a nut. I used the washer with the nut on the underside of the mounting crossbar. WEVO has advised me that the flat washer supplied should be placed immediately against the lower pillow above the crossbar. This was not clear to me, apparently.
  16. I've been in communication with WEVO and Joel Reiser of PCA Tech. IMO, not good news for using the WEVO product on the 996GT3. Here are their comments: WEVO- The WEVO C2 SS mounts were not designed as replacement parts for any car later than the 993. We know some shops supply the kits with longer bolts to allow the mounts to be installed in your car - but we have never done an install to be able to validate correct fit. As a result I can not confirm if you installation is typical or not. However, as a friend over on Rennlist points out - Check out this link from THEIR website:http://www.wevo.com/Products/Chassis...gineMounts.htm It specifically states: The C2 SS mount can also be used on the 996 series chassis and the 996 based GT3 cars – however – a longer bolt is required than the unit provided with the kit. PCA Tech - That does not sound right. How much have they come up? If it's an eighth of an inch, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's a half an inch, let's figure this out. My guess is that the bottom of the Wevo mount might be sticking down into the large square opening of the engine mounting crossbar. I would repeat the installation, this time putting in a large thick strong washer on top of the crossbar, just below each motor mount. They don't have to be metric, although that is preferred. Let us know what you find.
  17. I installed WEVO motor mounts on my '04 GT3. I would have thought that the engine would have dropped a bit, but looks like it was raised. See the positioning of my muffler tips to see the change. Pic 1 is before, Pic 2 is after. Was this to be expected? Can I adjust the cats/mufflers to reposition the tips a bit. These are Eisenmann tips on Cargraphics mufflers; only adjust in and out, not up and down.

  19. Interestingly, my service adviser and tech tell me to disregard the e-gauge because it's not accurate. And, according to the tech, this doesn't pertain just to my car. Several months ago, I had my car in to have a thicker steering wheel installed. The tech who handles my car exclusively drove it out, and informed me that the e-gauge showed I was low on oil. I reminded him that he had just done a 15K mile service a few weeks prior, and I had not been on the track with the car. We checked the e-gauge again, 2 marks down. Checked via dipstick, right at the top. This has continued to be the case over many months. I rely on the dipstick over the e-gauge. Of course, YMMV.
  20. I did a "console delete" on my GT3, and have the parts. Frankly, not sure whether I should keep them for originality's sake.
  21. OK, for the umpteenth time I'll be reinstalling my RS lip spoiler. Resilient piece as it's been knocked off and run over many times. :o I have 3M double-sided tape (and new rivets) for the install. What's good to clean the mating surfaces of the lip and the body, Goo Begone!, mineral spirits, isopropyl (sp?) alcohol, ...?

  23. Do you happen to know the highest milage 996 GT3 in the States (or North America)? Anyone else? Loren? There's a thread on this over at Rennlist. I haven't followed it closely, but seem to recall that 41K is the high mark.
  24. IMO, while I certainly like the looks of the 997GT3 better than my 996GT3 (I came out of a 993TT), I do not believe its performance is worth the extra $. Its nannies may be, though. I know this goes against the grain of the "race car for the streets," but being an older guy, I'd prefer a slightly less edgy car (my 996GT3). But not so far as a Turbo. And the 997 is a bit too soft for me. The h..l with the neighbors, but the scraping, especially with an RS front spoiler, is a pain. I keep at least one spare in the garage to replace the one that just fell off. I would say it's not quiet enough to carry on a normal conversation. One's voice must be raised. Likewise, those who complain about the inadequacy of the radio miss the point of listening to the engine scream from 6K to 8K rpm. Nonetheless, the radio is p..s poor, and the volume must be raised to listen. I seldom bother with it preferring to hear the engine. I also have a Cargraphics muffler system that makes it even sweeter.
