  1. Complete putting the rebuilt alternator back into the 02 996 this weekend. Thanks for everyones help on the bushing issue :) Got everything back together and started it up. Saw a few issues: 1) Belt started squeeking after a bit. Checked it and it was hot. Double checked I put it on the right way and all good. Started it up again and the squeak dissapeared. Maybe tension was readjusting?? 2) On the second time I started it it started running rough (almost sputtering) and the ABS/PSM failure light came on. My dad was standing at the back and said there was some black smoke but I didn't see it. Haven't started it again as I thought I would ask for some advice. Any thoughts? Something not installed right after the alternator reinstall? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Darron
  2. Alright...I hear it must be the bushing is tight. Will give it a try over the weekend and report back. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  3. Thanks...I'll check the bushing and see. Sounds like everyone's experience is pretty touch so just might have to lever it in. Any other tips would be appreciated. I also gave in last night and had it towed to the shop but determined to finish off the job and get her back on the road. Darron
  4. Hi, The regulator went in my 2002 C4 996 and I removed the alternator using the instructions at: http://p-car.com/996/diy/sai/mainpage.html.. The regualtor has been replaced and had a bearing replaced while out but now I'm having a heck of a time trying to get it back in. The area is very tight and can't get the right side of the alternator to line up with the bracket. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get it back in and seated correctly? I didn't want to pry it into place too hard so any tips would be appreciated. Do you need to bring the alternator down from the top of the bracket on the right side? Bottom up seems like a very tight fit. Appreciate the help. Darron
