  1. For the tranny side you will also need the axels (they are a different length and size than the 5 speed), hubs (axels are differnet size so the hubs are needed) Calipers and rotors to go with the new hubs as the 3.2L rotors and calipers do not fit on the new hubs. Also, the clutch disk is different than the 2.7L (The spline is different) E
  2. Guess that is one caviot: I am not too worried about fuel efficency or smog as this is a track only car. Hoever, I believe it would be a cost savings in the long run. E
  3. I was having a discussion last weekend at the track regarding fouled MAS units on my race car. I believe several of the Spec guys are also seeing the same issues. During the conversation I found out the Cup Cars do not have a MAS they use the throttle position sensor for the voltage input to the ECU. I know of at least one Boxster that has done this and no longer has a MAS. That got me thinking about wether any of the aftermarket guys could make this change in the stock Boxster ECU to allow this for much less than a Cup Car ECU would run. Thoughts? E
  4. Thanks for the info. swince mine are already crimped to be made longer for the headers I will go with the universal unit. E
  5. What are the aftermarket sources for Oxygen sensors? I need a sapre for the track tool box. Whihc ones do I need for a 2001 Non S. Are they the same sensor just different lengths of wire? Thanks E
  6. I might have a fan that I removed from the race car if you are interested. E
  7. If you are able to turn the key and get it to start (eventually) I am guessing it is the ignition switch, especially if it continues to get worse. E
  8. OK, just had a thought after typing that out and took a second look at the calipers. Looks like the 'studs' are adjustable so I can use a clamp and widen the gap to allow the thicker rear rotor to fit. E
  9. Sorry it has taken so long to reply. Got the parts and nothing seems to make sense. I need the collective help of RennTech to help me understand what I am seeing. Little background. Trying to change to S rotors in the rear of a 2001 2.7L Boxster. OK, so I go the rotors from DC Auto, the box is marked with P/N 986-352-403-01 and the measurements I took seem to match what they should be (299mm in diameter and 24mm thick). They fit on the hub no problem. When I go to put the calipers on they do not fit over the rotor. There are four 'studs' each paired up, on the caliper that the rotor does not fit between (does anyone know if these are adjustable?). So I figure I need S calipers after all. I go on e-bay, buy a set and go to put them on. SAME PROBLEM. So now I am confused. I look at the new calipers vs the old and think I might have got screwed on the calipers (they are not red). The part number stamped on BOTH calipers (e-bay purchased and old) is 996.352.421 (.422 for pass side). There is no last two digits. When I look on PeTS on both DC Auto and Pelican Parts these show as being S calipers with the non-S caliper being .423 and .424 for the rears. So Pets is telling me I have S calipers already, the S rotors seem to be making sense, the auction on e-bay says they are S but nothing is fitting together. Need your thoughs. Thanks E
  10. Thanks for the info, I will let you know if the rotors work with the existing calipers. E
  11. Anyone know the diameter differences between the rear brake rotors for the S and the non S? Will my Non S calipers work with S size rotors? Thanks E
  12. 4th gear gave out on my 5 speed VW/Audi transmission in the race car this past weekend during qualifying for Sunday's race. I have thought for a long time that a 6 speed with gears (still no one makes gears for the 5 speed that I know) would be a wake up for the car. Well, now is the time to do it, but it comes with a few questions: 1) Is the Aasco flywheel I have in the car the same for the S and 2.7L? On two separate sites that sell the flywheel it looks to be, just want to confirm. 2) What about the clutch. I know the 2.7 and 3.2L are different, but I am assuming that is more for power than anything. Will my 2.7L race clutch work? 3) The axles are different for the 3.2L and 2.7L. Any idea why? Are they again for the HP or something more? 4) What else do I need to consider for this? Shifter, shift cables...?? I am posting this on a few sites, sorry for the duplication but want to get it out to a crowd for discussion. Thanks for your help. E
  13. I have a EVO Cold AIr Intake on my 2.7L racecar. I need a new airfilter and am wondering if anyone knows the K&N part number for the filter. I know you can clean it, but I am chasing a MAS issue and want to replace it to eliminate that as a cause. thanks E
  14. First time poster, like time lurker. I am having a MAS issue on my racecar. I seem to be burning out MAS each event. The error code is P0102-Factory Fault Code 115-Mass Air Flow Sensor Below Limit. When I hook up my Duramteric the voltage does not move with RPM as it should. Can you over volt a MAS and burn it up. Then today, when troubleshooting that,I got a new error code P1119-Factory Fault Code 5-Heating of Oxygen Sensor ahead of TWC, bank 2. I am guessing the second code is an air leak in the intake? Any help on the either issue would be appreciated. Ethan
