  1. So I dropped the engine. The photos show the rear height, and front and rear jack stand heights I needed to roll the engine out the back of the car using a combination of a Sears Craftsman ATV jack to support the engine and a cheap "jack in a box" type jack to support the transmission. The ATV jack has a minimum height of about 3-3/4", and there was probably 1/2" to spare between the sheet metal and the throttle body as the engine came out:

  2. I'm not sure of the measurements but pretty high.

Of course you must consider the min height of the jacks.

I guess you could prop up the engine, disconnect everything, and then

jack the car up off the engine. That might be safer.

Here's a pic in another thread. Maybe you could email this guy.

Thanks, the pics you referenced in the other thread help quite a bit. Onward we go!

  3. Turning off the A/C while the car is running will prevent the A/C from running when you restart the car, but it won't prevent the automatic temperature control from ramping the fan speed up/down to try to maintain the temperature set point. That function is disabled by pressing one of the fan speed control buttons to convert the temperature control to manual. If you do that before turning the car off, it will remain in the manual mode when you restart the car.
