  1. 1999 (2000 Model Boxster S with Tips) I found my Boxs does flashing at 4th gear when I started it yesterday. It flashed around 5 seconds and turn to P (No flashing at P). After that, nothing special when I was driving along highway and city. No more flashing after the car is started. I have checked on User Manual, it didn't mention about how often of the flashing. Any idea or it is normal when starting ( I have tried few time after that. No more flashing when I re-start my Boxs)? If there is problem, what is the common problem of Tips? Please help.
  2. Thanks, Loren. I get no worry on the temp right now.
  3. Hm... I am sure both fans are running good (pretty strong). Any idea to make the temp being normal?
  4. Thanks a lot. A very good websit. Done. The temp on highway is 85-87C right now. But it is still climb up to 95C during traffic jam. It does staying at 95C (The ridaitor fan on) untill driving on highway. Is it normal?
  5. Would you please telling me where is the ventilation holes, Front shell, airco radiators, water radiators? Are they located inside of the front bumper? Any links or picture for DIY? Thank you so much.
  6. My 99 Boxster S Tips has 95 C during traffic jam today. Is is normal when outside temp was around 22-25 C? I have checked there is no coolant lost, all the fans work normally, everything is normal except the temp has risen up to 95 C (Never been at 100 C). Is it normal? How about yours? Any suggestion I have to concern or check? Please help!
  7. Item 2 is still on but missing Item 5. In case of the remaining item 2 is broken, would you please give me both of the parts number? As I never seen the original dead pedal, I don't know the item 2 is still good or not. Thanks for your help.
  8. I just bought a 99 Boxster S Tips (Right Hand Drive). The footrest pedal (the dead pedal) is missing. I think it was broken with some reason (The broken edge is still on). I woulk like to get one (Original one but not the allumium one). Could you please telling me the parts number? How much are they? Thanks.
  9. Problem solved. It was the problem of the radiator cap. I jacked up the car and have checked the hook, pipe and etc very carefully. Nothing wrong. I pulled up of all the trunk carpet and found nothing. Started to think about the radiator cap. Checked with parts number and search on this useful forum. Thanks for all of you providing information and your experience. The old cap is "00". Go to the dealer and buy a "01" cap at HK$141 (around USD18) immediately. Changed it and doing what RFM recommended (release valve for avoiding bubbles). Everything is fine and the car is perfect right now. The temp is around 80 - 90. One question, how can I know my collant tank is the old one or the improved one? Do I have to pull it over and checked the parts number? The dealer price of the coolant tank is HK$2100 (around USD269), sounds terrible. Thanks for Renntech and all of you guys.
  10. I just bought a 99 Boxster S (Tips) with 41K KM in Hong Kong. Everything is good except a very minor engine oil leaks (checked my mechanic). I have changed the coolant yesterday. (It was pure water but not coolant before the change). After the change, I found the temperature is slightly higher than before says 85 -95 but below 100. Drive thur highway and city, parked my car and have dinner. The temperature light was flashing when I start the engine. Pull over and check. No coolant at Coolant tank. top up with 1.25 litre distilled water in immediately. Drive home by 10 minutes (normal temperature) then stop and check it again. No leaking. In this morning, check coolant level again. Nothing wrong. I wanna drive to office and have a check by mechanic after work. 20 minutes from home to office (everything is normal, temp around 85-95). Parked my car and hear waterfall sound. Bulk of coolant on floor and seriously leaking like waterfall. Open the trunk, found the radiator cap is beeping and leaking (not serious but leaking). About 2 litres on floor. Now, I wait for cool down and top up with distilled water. Any idea? I have searched the radiator cap. I knew that this is common problem. But, does it make the coolant leaks like waterfall when you stop your car? New to Porsche and to Forum. (have been waited for 25 year, dream comes true) Really need help. Thank you
  11. I am new to forum. Really need your help. I just bought a 99 Boxster S (00 Model, with 41,000KM on it) from trader in Hong Kong. We are still working on the paper and the boxster hasn't delievered to me yet. The boxster is 100% accident-free. However, I found two drops of engine oil on the floor ( I think the boxster has parked there for one to two days). Then, I requested to jack up the car and have an inspection by myself. I found the engine compartment is leaking (not serious, just two drops about to drop). But I can't find where is the exact leaking point. The drops are located at right hand side (very close to the middle). Any idea? I have a test drive of this boxster for 45 minutes including highway and city with traffic jam. No overheat was noted. The Temperature Gauge is around 85 to 90 even during traffic jam. My mechanic told me that a lot of Porsches are leaking. Is that truth for 986? Is it a MUST for repairing if it has two drops a day? How much for the repair? I am so worry the boxster has serious engine problem. If it is leaking frim o-ring, head gasket, is it serious? or most of the boxster does? Thanks for your help.
