  1. Hey guys, is there a way to adjust the tension on the release for the trunk/engine compartment? Mine is really loose!
  2. Yep, I get the same noise in my '99 C4! I changed the bushing which was causing swaybar noise, swapping them fixed the swaybars noise, however still have the popping. I've grown tired of chasing down all the various noises I've learned to live with the popping. The vibrating tin sound coming from the interior driver side door is starting to get to me though!
  3. Thank you much Loren, I'll give the a try! :D
  4. Hello to all of the Porsche fans! Question for you all, has the air pump (the high pitch sounding device that comes on opon ignition) been known to go bad? Well, I think it's where the intermittent noise is coming from when I fire up the engine. It's a '99 911 C4. It sounds almost like the noise the starter makes when it's going bad, however it sounds like it's spinning alot faster. Actually I thought it was the starter untill I realized the starter motor was still actually turning the engine when what appears to be the pump was making the sound. Dunno! Thanks guys!
  5. Hello, I have a 99 996 C4 with around 18K on a replacement engine. The car has 39K! I'm having an annoying issue at idle, the RPM's fluctuates between 800 to 900 constantly. A few times it dropped below 500 and almost stalled! I changed the air filter to a BMC, cleaned the MAF which had very little build up and I still have the issue. The O2 sensor was changed just before I purchased it as well. With these low miles there is no way the spark plugs and ignition coils should need to be replaced, right? I'm stumped! :(
  6. Sorry, but true! On the other hand your butt dyno will say it improved! :P Yeah, I picked up a set of new x51 manifolds over the winter and saw a PSE up on ebay and thought about bidding. ;)
  7. Hello, Could someone please tell me if there is a performance gain in installing an OEM sport exhaust w/ x51 exhaust/header on 3.4L 996? Thanks!
  8. Does anybody have the Fabspeed bypass on their daily driver?
  9. Loren, Could you please tell me what the part number is for the grommits (6 and 11)? Thanks in advance! Unplug the sensor (Item 3 is the sensor). Remove the two T20 security Torx screws (Item 4). Replace the sensor and tighten screws. Plug electrical connection back in.
  10. Thanks guys, I'll try to get back under there this weekend! Is there a write-up on muffler removal?
  11. Loren, To be honest, no I'm not sure! I got up under the car to scope it out. The bolts that what appear to be holding the muffler in place are corroded! How can I tell?
  12. Hello, I have a '99 C4 with muffler rattle! Is there a DIY write-up on muffler mount replacement as well as OEM part #? Thanks!! :help:
  13. I have a simlar request! I also need rubber grommet it's the blue one that's used to keep the air intake box stable. I have a '99 C4 coupe. Thanks! :help: :notworthy:
  14. I echo what you said about replacing the coolant tank. I didn't quite pay as much as you did for the repair ($700) propably because the shop was an independent shop. None the less still a nice chunk of change! I have '99 C4 6spd.
  15. Thanks for all the replies guys! Good stuff to know! As I said, I'll have some time this weekend to get her up on stands and take a look around. Once again I have to give a thumbs-up to the forum! AWESOME!
  16. I have a '99 996 C4 I puchased back in March which now has rattle issues! They are coming from the engine compartment, inside driver's and passeger side doors as well as what appears to be clunking noise from the front and rear suspension when going over bumps. I've read the threads on the CAT issues, I'll get under there a poke round this weekend to see if I can find anything. I've also searched on various suspension threads on those write-ups. Couldn't find anything known on the doors though. My question is, should this be happening on a vehicle with a litte over 36000 miles and an engine that was factory replaced with now only 15000 miles? Should I be replacing suspension parts this soon? My '99 BMW M3 had 46000 miles when I traded it for the 996, the only problem I hand with it was the battery! :soapbox: :cursing:
  17. Hey there, My '99 C4 temp needle also sits to the right of 180! Did you replace the valve yourself?
  18. wross996tt, It's a '99! Will that work for me? <_<
  19. Guys, I my battery died in my c4 with the central locking ingaged! The battery has no power for me to open the hood/trunk to get to it! Is there a way to manually release the level to pop the hood/trunk? :help: :soapbox:
  20. Thanks Loren! Could you point me to where I can get the paint? :notworthy:
