  1. Did a search but couldn't find what I needed. Anyone recomend a good body shop in and around Los Angeles, Glendale vicinity. It's a 99 Boxster, standard verson, 139,000 miles.

Some punk side swiped my Bosxter on the drivers side and took off. The door is screwed along with back panel and so on. State Farm steered me to there website of apporved shops, but I checked out three of them and they each had a couple or more bad reviews. I went to the dealer in Pasadena and he gave me a verbal estimate of being a total loss. Called Beverly Hills dealer and there recommended shop had quite a few bad reviews.

    Thanks

  2. I had to change the ignition on my 99 Boxster and the tutorials plus pictures really helped. I had to remove the side vent for more room at the bottom. It was a pain to get those screws loose. One got stuck about half way out and wouldn't budge. Luckily one side was out and I was able to pry the old ignition out. Then I grided the tip just a bit to get the new one in. I also used about three different screw drivers, and one with pliers. All in all I think the satifaction of accomplishing the task and the money I saved made it worth it. I paid $12 for the part. Thanks guys.

  3. hitsuji,

North Hollywood Auto Upholstery (818)765-0511 did the install. He ordered the top(sonnoedeck, glass) from Gahh, took 3 days to make, and took one day to install, total $875. Oh yeah, and comes with the defrost wiring kit. I still have to figure out where to plug that into. Anybody know where to plug it into?

As far as the glass, it actually looks smaller in pictures then in person. I was expecting it to be smaller. Looking through the rear view mirror, it is a bit smaller, but to me not an issue at all. Compared to the hazing plastic window I had, the glass is crystal clear.

    Hope that helps

  4. Well from the information I've gathered, ezon make good products but no one has experience with the boxster tops. My installers preference is gahh and gave me a good deal. He did it today and all I have to say is it is nice to see out the back again. Hope there are no problemms with the delamination. Oh yeah and I went with the sonnendeck.

  5. Mine does the same thing, usually when the outside temp is hot and I've been stuck in traffic for a bit. I've had it turn off on me when I don't give it enough gas. It has been doing it since I bought the car, about 2-1/2 years ago with 77,000 miles. Now with 105,000 it doesn't seem as though it has gotten any worse.

  6. I wasn't sure about the these tires either, but I needed front tires really badly and tried them. They were smother then the dulops that were on there, probably because they were new. Six months later I needed rears to replace avons that were on there. What a difference. The avons were so loud I could not hear my cell on the freeway. Now with both the fronts and rears on the Boxster, I am happy with them. I don't drive super agressive, but they hold up well in the twisties. I would definately buy them again. Hope that helps.
