  1. Hi. I am a newbie here... hope I have done this properly. I have a 2000 C4 996 Cabriolet. Over the last 6 weeks it has gone from Occassionally sticking with flashing P and 4th LED then D and 4th, generally turn on/off fixed it It got progressively worse, happening more and more frequently. Then it did it all the time. All gears working properly, both in MANUAL and AUTO.. just annoying flashing LED's and never being sure if you'd changed down to 1 or 2 etc.... but not a massive problem. THEN - NOW Still flashing between P and 4 / N and 4 / R and 4 / D and 4 BUT no MANUAL.. it seems to just work in AUTO between gears 2,3 and 4.. no 1st or 5th. Took it to AUTOSTRASSE they thought it was just an iffy cable connection.. WD40 etc No difference Porsche computer showed, I think, fault 30. AUTOSTRASSE think it might need new selector controller £1.3K.... I am sure it might be something more basic / electro mechanical... stretched selector cable?? ANY IDEAS PLEASE ?? Cheers Tris Hunstanton
