  1. 305's with the 11" rim of the 997 turbo wheels are a perfect match. If I remember correctly the Turbo wheels are 8.5" wide, if that's the case I would run a 245 tire on the front to increase both front and rear by 10mm to keep the car from pushing even more. Dave
  2. Greetings: Let me throw this out to all of you again. The product is called " Street Blaze " Street legal ( in the US ) 100 octane fuel. Thanks Chromedome Forget the previous post...if you can only get 91 octane like here in Cali blending 3-4 gallons of 100 octane will get you near the 93 octane Porsche normally recommends for the car. Here in Cali the crap 91 we get really isn't true 91 octane. I run 3 gallons of 105 F&L unleaded racing gas and this gets me close to 94 octane as I am burning this with the crap 91. You will notice a little more get up and go with the car via improved throttle response as the car will feel a little sharper. Running above 93 octane will probably be counter-productive unless you have software that can take advantage of this. Keep in mind it's a diminishing return...after 93 octane even with software there really isn't that much more power to be had. With modern engines 93 octane can easily support a 12:1 compression ratio. Oh and to answer your question..yes 4 gallons of 100 and 4 gallons of 91 will actually get you 95 octane..it does work that way. Here is a nice chart.. octane chart Dave
  3. I think the price was fair, but why worry about it now?? It's a done deal..enjoy it in good health :) Dave
  4. Is the air mass sensor wire exetention necessary? To you who has done the installation, can you post a picture of the wire? I heard that it isn't but it really stretches it pretty taught...I would probably get it. Dave
  5. You can buy the X51 headers from Suncoast for $575 with bolts and gaskets...even AWE with their dyno's only got 4rwhp out of their headers after the cat and mufflers installed. They didn't test the headers by themselves...I don't think there is any hp to be gained by the headers themselves. The headers will fatten up the powerband a tad after you do the cats and mufflers..the majority of the gains to be had with the exhaust system is going to be the cats... Dave
  6. I have been very satisfied...it's OEM, fits perfect and aids in power production. As far as sound is concerned..headers don't add much to sound, it may sound a tad throatier or more aggressive but as far as being louder it won't add much. Dave
  7. Actually Coryey I think they only change the plenum on the X51 cars as the intake manifolds have a different opening to them and it is to accomodate this. The plenum is changed but just for that purpose, it is still the basic design as the non X51 part. If the RSS plenum works it would probably work even better with the x51 with the intake, throttle body and not to mention the cleaned up heads the X51 has along with the better exhaust manifolds. Dave It's a very different cast part, not a plastic part like the non powerkit models, atleast on the 996 it's not. It's plastic for the 997, the X51 throttle body for the 997 will fit the non X51 plenum according to RSS. Dave

  9. There were actually a couple of dyno's posted for a 3.6 not the 3.8L S motor. The 3.6L motor made 10rwhp at the peak, and 23rwhp more at it's widest delta..so RSS seems to be quoting the most amount of hp increase within it's rpm range. At the peak it seems they are worth about 10rwhp according to what I have seen. Than again I know someone who got it and took it off his car and "gave" it to someone...he felt it was worth zip... If you look at RSS's dyno sheets given on the 6speed thread you can see that it made a little more than 11rwhp at it's peak. Dave
  10. No need for condescending comments. If your snide remark “Try one your Butt might like it if you get it off your head” indicates I have my head up my a$$ look at your own retort. Dyno results from an unsubstantiated source (European Car) show increases of 10 to 11 hp and 15 to 18 ft/lbs of torque. That is a far cry from the Road Sport Supply claim of increases of 27 hp and 25 ft/lbs of torque. That’s 59% to 63% less hp power and 28% to 40% less torque. It’s seemingly apparent that the manufacturer is overly optimistic with their claimed power increases. I’m curious but what kind of power gains where you expecting and what did you actually archive when you installed your RSS Plenum? Not defending RSS as I do feel it's misleading that the 27hp gain they are claiming is at the widest point of the delta, not peak which is in the 10rwhp range. Dave
  11. Actually there were several dyno runs done on the 996 side of 6speedonline with the 3.6L, I saw 7-8rwhp at peak hp and 10 ft/lbs of tq at peak. At the delta there was a 20rwhp gain but only for 300-400rpm. I actually did a search for this last night on 6speedonline and found it. Do a search on the 996 board of 6speed you will find it. Dave
  12. Wow you are making the rounds...the metallic 200cpi cats will do more for sound and hp than the manifolds. Before you go spend all that money on the Tubi manifold's consider the X51 parts from Porsche as they are a 1/4 of the cost with the same performance. Dave
  13. Quaife also makes a LSD for the 997 now, here is the info...http://www.autotech.com/quaife/index2.htm There is a application for the 05-08 997. Vivid sells them as well.. Dave
  14. I wouldn't sweat that NO, N1 rating..just put a quality tire on and you will be fine. The problem is going with a 245 tire on a 8" wide rim, you can do it but it won't be optimal. Dave
  15. I don't think so due to the dual mass flywheel the OEM clutch is using, but I want to be sure...thanks. Dave
  16. I am not clear, if the x51 throttle body(which is larger then the stock one) does fit the non x51 intake (which is smaller then the x51 intake manifold, then how does the inside diameteres match up x51 ID verses the non z51 intake manifold ID , ?/ or are they the same. Ronnie Sorry Ronnie didn't see this..you have to remember that the throttle body doesn't connect to the intake manifold directly. It connects to a plastic intake distribution tube commonly called the "plenum", this is the part that RSS has done through the aftermarket. As far as the X51 throttle body ID vs. this part, well this is the million $ question. Whats nice about the factory piece being plastic you can probably grind it down to gasket match this and you could probalby do it with the RSS aluminum part as well. I was told by RSS that the X51 TB does fit. Haven't seen this myself though...(my disclaimer :D) Dave thanks dave , i really meant the plenul, the irony is i already fitted the rss plenum in the car. I also have the airbox , filler tube, sitting in my house. I was thinking about just getting a silicone transition tube from the throttle body to air inlet hose. i am not sure how much the throttle body is . have you ordered your stuff yet ronnie Hey Ronnie, not yet. Do you have the template for cutting the lower deck for the 2nd airtube?? I saw your post regarding the oil filler tube and the alternator. I will see if I can find out how to do this. I am leaving to Japan for a few weeks, and I will probably order it when I get back. Dave ya the dealer shipped it with the aie box, but unfortunately the scale is incorrect. will keep you posted ronnie I just sent you a PM, but in case you don't check it......... Did you measure the difference, if any between the diameter of the stock 3.8 airbox where the maf is inserted and your new x51 airbox? Also, one would need to measure how far the MAF extends into each intake tube and make sure it was the same. If the two internal diameters are not the same you will be getting a bad MAF reading causing your car to run too lean or too rich. If the intake diameter has increased the MAF would read low and the ECU would respond by running too lean (may not good for engine longevity but can make more power and could also be why at startup you are running a bit rough as the stock program usually tries to run the car rich until it is warm).I am trying to get data on this as I am on the fence on doing an X51 airbox or EVOMS one for my 3.8 x51, so please let me know if you have done the calculations. Just confirmed today that the intake at the point of the MAF sensor is the same inner diameter for 996/997 and 997 x51 intakes. The difference in the X51 intake is that the factory one has two air snorkels and a bigger internal diameter hose to deal with the bigger inner diameter of the X51 throttle body. Also, 3.8 non x51 cars running x51 airboxes may be getting a rough idle because the tubing diameter differential. Thanks for the PM...I have talked to 2 people who have done this and they didn't complain of any rough idle. Dave
  17. sport seats and the power standard seat?? Inquiring minds want to know... :D Dave
  18. The X51 airbox is already considered the pinnacle of any cold air setup, no need for the aftermarket in case of the X51 intake. Dave
  19. I wouldn't bother...you can do an actual X51 intake for a 1/3 of the price of the air intake from Champion. The money you save will pay for headers and a good portion of some mufflers from AWE, Fabspeed or Borla. Dave
  20. Hey Ronnie, if you get a chance could you forward this to me. My email. socaldt@comcast.net Thanks a bunch.. Dave
