  1. Hi Zebswiss and RFM, thank you for the quick replies! I forgot to tell you, the car starts when put into neutral, as Zebswiss also suggests. I shall try to locate the switch. RFM: You say the switch is On the gearbox, do you mean the gear-lever/stick or beneath?
  2. Hi I've been searching the forum but hav'nt found a solution for my problem. The car is a 98' Boxster TipTronic. Problem: I turn the key, lights come on, turn more and..nothing. Solution: I wriggle the gearlever back and forth into Neutral - turn off the ignition, and on again and the engine starts just fine. Ignition switch seems fine, the power comes on just fine. The battery is'nt very old. My impression is that some switch in the gearlever is faulty and needs to be moved quickly before it activates(or deactivates). Does anyone have knowledge of such a switch or other suggestions? I guess the battery could be faulty...I have'nt tried another one. But as stated, the car starts up just fine, when it finally decides to. Thanks in advance!!
  3. Hi all The car is a 98´Boxster TipTronic with 67.000 km (41.000 miles) on it. The sound is very annoying and pretty loud. Sometimes the engine has to warm up before it occurs. The sound increases as the RPMs rise (but is much slower than the actual RPM). It becomes very clear when accelerating from low RPMs in high gear. It sounds very much like a loose belt of sorts. I have removed the cover behind the seats to inspect the belt and I pretty sure it is'nt the cause of the sound. While having the cover off, the sound was clearer when I stuck my head next to the left rear wheel. I have read descriptions of similar problems being related to the Oil and Air seperator, but any insights are appreciated. The local garage can't help me and the nearest Porsche dealer is 200km away otherwise i would go straight to them and i would like to tell what to fix/expect before I make the trip.
