  1. I've got a 2003 911 C2 with cracked carbon fiber interior bits that I'd like to replace (side vents, radio surround). Does anyone have any recommendations for a provider high quality aluminum replacements? The Porsche stock replacements are a possibility (an expensive one!) if I can't find anything decent. Many Thanks, -jeff
  2. No, it is not necessary. But depending on your clutch wear, it may be sensible. The labor on the clutch repair is significantly lower if they do it when doing the RMS (since they have to drop the transmission for an RMS anyway).
  3. Hi Paul! Where is in Redwood City? Do you have the address? I like to try it with my 05 997s. And how do you mix them? Is it half tank of 101 octane plus the other half super unleaded? giahan, Looks like your are in San Jose...there is a 76 at 3010 Almaden Expwy (at Foxworthy Ave) that also sells racing fuel (100 octane). I believe they have a blending chart that shows how to mix with premium to get to target octane ratings. See http://personal.linkline.com/dbarton/Unlea...l_in_SoCal.html And http://www.ranney.com/mjr/fuel_blend.html And http://www.idavette.net/hib/fuel/upd/Blend%20Chart%2090.pdf :) You're right...I'm in San Jose! I have a Supercharge in my 05 997s so can I just add about half tank of 100 octane when my tank is empty without adding any other regular gasoline? Is this engine design to run 100 plus octane? My understanding is that the only damage you would do is to your bank account. The pump with the racing fuel is right next to the regular fuels, so you can do the blend right at the pump to get to whatever your target octane is. The price/performance increase as you go to higher octanes is such that you would not likely want to go with pure racing fuel for street driving. 5. I only started seeing a few drops of oil after each drive recently -- though I think it may have been leaking for a longer period of time. I did not have oil on the exhaust manifold though. Most of the dirty, accumulated oil was in the nearby vicinity of the bottom of the RMS. The exhaust manifold was completely free of oil.
  6. Thanks for the reply. I took the car in this morning and it is the RMS. It is under warranty. As you suggested, I'm have the clutch replaced since it is near the end of its life span and quite a bit less in labor costs to do while they are doing the other stuff ($850 vs $1800). Hopefully, I won't be a repeat customer for RMS leaks in the feature.
  7. I've got at 2003 996 C2 manual w/ 34k miles on it and started noticing a few drops of oil on the floor recently. I am going to schedule an appt with the dealer since I bought it as a CPO last year. However, I was curious and jacked it up to take a look. It looks like it has been leaking for a while based on the accumulated oil. I'd be pleased to get opinions on the likely source (see photos). Also, am I taking any significant additional risks in damaging the car if I drive it once or twice before I take it in? I've checked the engine oil level and it is OK. Thanks.
  8. This is almost exactly what happened to my 03 a couple of weeks ago. As the voltage ran low and the alternator was not generating, system after system "failed" as the level dropped from 12 to 9 volts. The alternator had to be replaced.
