  1. maybe the amount of rain overwhelmed the emptying capacity of the drains. or maybe you pushed through anything that was blocking the drains when you used the coathanger. at this point, you may want to put a large plastic Ziploc bag around the alarm/locking computer under the driver's seat (i know that your problem was under the passenger seat, but water can also find its way under the driver's seat - which is even worse). you will need to remove the seat to do it. then unscrew the screws that hold it to the floor. put the bag around it so that the wiring harness sticks out the 'top' of the bag, then screw the alarm/locking computer back into the floor. you may want to use rubber washers on the inside and outside of the bag where the screw holes are. by Ziploc-ing your alarm/locking computer, you may save yourself a BIG headache in the future. i wish i knew enough to do it. so now you have no excuse. ;) thanks for the help. The drain near the battery tray was clogged, so I cleared that. If that doesn't fix it, my plan is to pull the seat and the carpet, put the car under a sprinkler and see where its coming in from!
  2. I am trying to pin down the source of a water leak behind the passenger seat. I thought it might be AC condensation, but we just had a ton of rain and the car has not been driven so it has to be leaking in from outside. Ran a clothes hanger down the drainage holes under the soft top and poured water through. They appear to be clear as water is draining out on to the pavement. I am trying to access what is labeled here (http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/drainsdiagram) as "Water Drainage: From the water tray" but I cannot figure out how to access that drainage line. Any advice? Thanks in advance! :renntech:
  3. Awesome... thanks. I will definitely take a look at the radiator (I need a weekend project since my iPod adapter install was far too easy!)
  4. recently took a 300 mile road trip and noticed that my engine temp has been steadily increasing over the past few months. Here's the deal... on the road, the faster I went the cooler the temp (more air to the radiator I guess) and if we turned the ac off and the heat up, it would go down as well (as one would expect.) Should I be concerned about my water pump or is this normal temp. She is a 99 with 66800 miles. Also the carpet behind the passenger seat is often damp. My thought is this is AC condensate, but maybe they are related? Thanks!
  5. Sorry, can't help w/ the code, but once you have the radio removed, push in the blue clip on either side to release the keys before putting the h/u back in. Also, instead of slicing your fingers off (it requires a 'fair' amount of force to pull the radio out) drop a screwdriver into each key and pull on the screwdrivers instead. Good luck! Thanks, the codes did not work but I was able to remove the keys (and radio) without tearing my fingers off. Is there another radio code resource or will I have to go back to the dealership and beg them?
  6. battery crapped out this morning. Fortunately I recently purchased the Becker Aux input kit and have the radio removal tool. CR 220 BE4362 SN x5015382 Thank you in advance. Also, how does one remove the radio removal tools once the radio has been removed?
  7. Thanks for the advice everyone. I check the wires and boots but my mechanic is going to lift it for me and just double check. After driving it for about 20 miles the engine seemed to smooth out a bit more and I wonder if the engine was just shocked by the new plugs and air filter after not having much TLC over the past few years. I also installed a K&N Air filter which I decided to replace with a stock filter as soon as it arrives. I hope that will make a difference.
  8. checked the plugs wires and they are all attached correctly. This is my girlfriends car and has not had much in the way of TLC. When I pulled the air filter there were leaves and 3 cigarette butts in there and it is overdue for an oil change and coolant flush. I've been driving it all day and it is idling better and the knock appears less. Is it possible that the combination of new air filter and sparks plugs was a bit of a shock to the system and it will take a little longer for the computer to catch up?
  9. Hi, I am a bit of a Porsche Newb, but made my first attempt at changing the spark plugs last night. I installed Bosche +2 and even though it was a pain, everything seemed to go smoothly. Unfortunatley, now she is a little slow off the line and requires a bit more gas to get rolling. There is a slight knock from the drivers side and my thought that I did not get one of the wires attached properly. Does that sound right? I also replaced the air filter at the same time and it was a bit tight going, but it ran fine after installing the air filter. thanks for the help!
  10. figured it out... for the roll cage. was able to tighten it up
  11. Hi, I recently came into possession of a '99 Boxster Conv. While repairing the broken top mechanism I noticed a bolt on the driver's side, located right above the lower ball joint for the cable that secures the top in the rear is loose (normally it is under the insulation, but I pulled it back while removing the ball joint.) What is this bolt and should I be concernced? :renntech:
