  1. The HVAC system on my 2001 996tt RHD STD does not vary the temperature of the air output.Whether I adjust to 30 deg C or to 19 deg C the air output is the same temperature, very low ( I suspect the min temperature available). I have done some routine line checks, checked sensors etc but was unable to find anything to point me in the right direction.

  2. I have a similar problem with my GT2. The fuel gauge/on board computer indicates that the fuel tank is empty and the tank fills with 55-60 liters. A few weeks ago I confirmed that the gauge/on board computer are not showing the correct fuel level in the tank by driving the car 100 miles with the fuel gauge marking empty. I filled it up with 70 liters.

I am convinced that the problem with my car is the fuel gauge/on board computer/fuel sender are not working properly.

thank you for the reply and those of others. I had the same problem as you as well as the original one cited. When my warning light (message) says refill the on board computer is telling me I have 100Km or so left before a refuel is required. As suggested by others a recal sorted this problem out. AS for fuel usage, I certainly understand the "right foot" point of view. I also understand math 65 litres into the tank and 200Km =horrendous mileage. Nothing to do with whether the tank is filled or not.

    thanks for your time

  3. I have a 2001 996TT which I bought used. I have replaced the fuel pump since then. I am getting only 220Km per tank of high octane gasoline. No apparent leaks, no smells of fuel-can't figure out what is going on. Would appreciate any help or direction you might be able to provide.

  4. I decided to buy the Workshop and PET CD's from "Porschelibrarian"...see my original post before with regard this topic.

I received them today and they work just fine and provide me with all the info I need to maintain my car. I can print out anything I want and it comes out clear.

Being able to enlarge any image I want using Adobe 7.0, allows me to see in detail any small stuff, particularly the electrical schematics.

I am very happy with my purchase and recommend this to anybody that likes wrenching like I do.

    Cheers,

    Ben

    Loren...these are the real deal.

    Thanks Keith!

PS: Had no setup issues and all functions fine on my P4 PC

Do you have a web link for Porschelibrarian, I would like to take advantage of the CD PET

I have been following this conversation as well, as I am in the same position with my car. My compliments on your car a "work of art". What exhaust system have you used?

  7. From an August 26, 2005 sales memo...

Any vehicle that completed production April 21, 2005 or later, and was ordered with the navigation option, contains the new PCM 2.1 system. These vehicles should have been delivered to your dealership with a factory supplied map disc.

The disc will not be installed in the DVD drive but will be inside the vehicle or the trunk (depending on the model) still in the original disc container.

If your vehicle arrives without a disc you should order a replacement through your Parts department and submit a warranty claim for reimbursement. The part

    number is 997.642.257.02.

Cars produced with navigation between April 11 and April 21 could have either the new PCM2.1 system or the previous generation 2.0 system. PCM 2.0 systems will require the Navteq supplied disc. See Vehicle Distribution Bulletin 83/2005 for instructions on how to determine which disc is needed. The discs are not interchangeable.

Cars produced with navigation prior to April 11 will require the Navteq supplied disc. Use the existing Navteq order form available on PCNASource to order your disc.

    DISC ORDERING MATRIX

    1) Completed production April 21 or later – Disc should be in car. If not, order part 997.642.257.02 from Porsche.

    2) Completed production between April 11 and April 21 – follow instructions on bulletin 83/2005 and order the correct disc.

    3) Completed production prior to April 11 – order disc from Navteq.

Sir: I have a 2000 996 TT and NAV system (located in Hong Kong). Bought the car used and can find no information on the NAV systems or discs for it. Do you know if it is a Navteq system. Right now when I start the car the display shows "guidance system de-activated". Trying to figure this out without a manual

    thanks

    james

  8. Where may I find how to enter security code for my nav system. On screen error message "Guidance System De-activated" has mysteriously appeared and can't figure oput what has occurred or how to rememdy it. I have a 2001 996 TT with the early version PCM .

    regards,

    james
