  1. Hi

I have a 911 2002 which has the PCM1 16 bit Nav system and Bose Sound

I am told that the Dension 500 is compatible but before I take the plunge would love to know if anyone else has tried the system with PCM1. Is the PCM1 a fibre optic system ( my car is around July 2002)

Also has anyone also tried the bluetooth adapter that comes with the system

Thanks for any knowledge it will be much appreciated

    Michael

The first pre-release Gateway 500s (~1.5 year ago) was mainly developed on a 2003 Cayenne PCM1. It had a MOST optical bus, but the fiber optic cables were made by Yazaki and not Tyco (all cars nowadays uses Tyco cables/connectors).

For this reason Dension offers a Yazaki->Tyco optical conversion kit.

Anyway the functionality will be the same as on PCM2 or PCM2.1.

  2. this whole thing is driving me crazy now, i have installed 2.08 version and put the switch in bypass mode, the LED light blink only for a while and then goes off, there is no sound coming at all , niether in radio nor in cd. any idea how do i reset the amplifer and see it it work as before when it have gone off i had take to dealer and they have run PS test and sound comes back or the sounds automatically comes after sometime . i have becker CDR 23 unit.

thanks a lot for your help, appreciate it

Could you please ask the one who installed your Gateway, whether he used permanent 12V or switched 12V?

Has he followed the Install Manual, and used Installation Type 2? Is the Gateway box installed in the boot or behind the head unit?

  3. Mine re-boots a lot too. Bugs me, since I have to re-set the bass, treble etc. every time it re-sets.

I've got a 2003 Boxtser S. I've had the gateway 500 for about 6 months now. I'm still running 2.02. Good to know that the latest update doesn't solve it. I won't hurry to update it.

The bypass is on the little black box that has the red and white RCA connectors on it.

I suggest you to update to 2.08. It's not a time-consuming procedure and the 2.08 works much better than 2.02.

  4. i have uploaded version 2.08 today but still not working, how do i switch gateway to bypass mode( sorry i am not good in tech stuff) . the blue light blink for sometime when i start but then goes off.

So when it is in GW mode (the switch on the black AUX box is set to the filled circle position), the LED blinks and then goes off after some seconds?

When it is in bypass mode (switch is on the empty circle position), the LED blinks continously and the CDC/Amp is working?

  5. i have installed the new version 2.07 but still same problem, the amp dont work sometime, have taken to porsche and they dont support aftermarket systems, they have run test and its fine , it is enabled as CD changer .

dension is not being of any help either.

i am thinking of taking gateway deinstalled now as atleast then my radio and cd would work, If i wd have know before wouldnt have spend 300 pounds on it

With one switch you can turn Dension Gateway to bypass mode in one second. It will restore the original state of the MOST ring, and your Amp and CD changer should work correctly. Are they working ok then?

If yes, then you have a faulty Gateway panel, ask replacement from the dealer/installer.

  6. It is Gateway 500 Most Dual FOT version 2.01

The latest version is 2.07 (2.05 is currently available on homepage). You can try to update and see if the problem is still there.

You can also check the blue LED on the AUX-box. If the Gateway is running, then it will emit light continously.

If the Gateway was crashed, the blue LED will flash during reboot.

It is also flashing when the CDC is selected.

  7. - There is also a potential risk that the internal GSM module is not working requesting a PCM reset

    - CD Changer is not recognized

    Hi!

When the Gateway is in bypass position the original ring configuration is restored, so the CD changer should be recognized in all cases. If not, it must be an installation mistake.

The first question is more interesting. The Gateway simulates a CD changer, so if the iPod is playing, basically there will be two CD Changers present in the system. Because of the extra device on the MOST ring, some head units cannot handle this situation and "forgets" to ask the last device on the ring (which is the phone in many cases).

You have to increase the number of known devices with Porsche service/diagnostic tool.

The Gateway 500 from V3 HW revision has smarter solution for this: it has two fiber optic connectors. If the Gateway is playing that will be the only CDC device on the MOST ring. And in bypass mode it will let through the light towards the real Changer, restoring the original configuration. No extra device on the ring, no need for programming, because the CDC is simply swapped by the iPod.

  8. hello all

can someone help, i have got dension 500 installed professionally in 2003 boxter and took it to Porsche then to enable the CD settings, it worked for while and now the amplifier dont work all the time, it works sometime and then somtime dont work. there is no sound for fm, am, cd and ipod, i guess the system keep resetting itself .

does anyone else have encountered the same issue and any ideas why thats happening

    your help would be appreciated.

    thanks

    Hi!

Do you have the latest SW version on your Dension Gateway?

  9. The screen text is better than I expected with only one gripe - the play lists, artists or albums are displayed in banks of 30 on "pages" which means the page needs "turning" when scrolling though.

The number of tracks in tracklist is limited. Imagine, if getting 30 song names from iPod takes about 2-3 secs, and users typically have some hundred artists and some thousands of songs. If you don't use paging it would be very slow.

Anyway, there's an option to increase or decrease the size of the pages. (It needs a special config file to be placed onto a USB stick).

  10. It sounds great! BUT you can't search for a song. Only by Album, Artist and Playlist.

    Hi!

You can search for a song, if you know its initial letter:

    - Choose Disc 6, Menu.

    - Select the folder "Songs" and press seekFW on it.

    - Press seekFW on the first item "ABC-SEARCH"

    - Select the inital letter and press seekFW on it.

    - Then you will see only the songs starting with that letter

This helps a lot when searching for a song.
