  1. Did you figure this one out? My wife's '03 Boxster S does the same thing. It has gone off maybe 3 or 4 times in the last six months. I'm always worried going out of town for a weekend or whatever and having it go off and really pizz off my entire neighborhood. I am sure not comfortable with leaving the keys at home with my 16 year old son "just in case". Any thoughts on why it would do this?
  2. Oops - you guys already said it was ben. My bad. I'm not worried about emissions - I'm in Hawaii where we don't have any. :)
  3. That guy selling his car on ebay is Ben from Rennlist.com. He is selling the car to make room for a new CGT. There is nothing suspicious about it. He's upgrading to the ultimate P-car. I am very interested in getting the supercharger for my 996 and have been in back and forth dialogue with the EVO guys regarding this. They just installed one on a guy's car on my island where I live. I have received his phone # and will be contacting him to check it out (and hopefully go for a ride!) in it when I return. I'm currently off island (on Oahu) for school for the next 3 weeks. My personal opinion is that if you want more power and can offord it, go for it. The EVO guys have it nailed down after having installed dozens of SC's all over. They have done a total of 8 (as of May '04) Tiptronics - since mine was a tip, that was one of my main questions.
  4. I looked it up in my little Porsche bible just to make sure I wasn't losing it. It's there alright, "Mirage Metallic". On my island there is probably less than ten 996's in various forms (GT2, TT, C4, C2, cabs, etc...) and there is one other Mirage Metallic coupe. I almost puked when I saw it driving down the road. I thought for sure I was going to be unique. Well, I'll have to wave him down one day and make friends. :) I'll pick a day when my car is extra clean after a fresh polish!
  5. Hi, Loren. Is that from a U.S. dealer or Carnewel? I'd rather try to buy one from a closer vender. A large piece of metal can only cost a hundred bucks or so and then cost several hundred dollars in freight from a foriegn country. I ship stuff to Hawaii all the time from Japan, P.I., Indonesia and other S.P. spots and you wouldn't believe the freight, customs, etc...
  6. does some other vendor sell it in the U.S.? The freight to Hawaii will probably be horrendous from the UK or wherever Carnewal is located. BTW, I've been waiting for two weeks for a freight quote from a slate Quarry in Wales, but who's grumbling? ;) I have a little bit of a rough road to get to my driveway and this engine plate is a very attractive idea. I definitely want one.
  7. Is it offered by Porsche or aftermarket? I'm interested in one.
  8. $800-$1000 has been the price range I've seen other's post. A new engine if it fails? $8k - ouch!
  9. I thought it was really nice first visiting this forum and seeing the color chart listed. The only thing is, my color is not in the list. "Mirage Metallic" on a '99 C-2 Coupe. I know it's a factory color, I've seen it many times on other cars and it is listed in my Porsche book. So what gives? You don't like Mirage Metallic?
  10. Is this a rare thing? Does anyone have info on % of 996's that have had these issues?
