  1. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot. What exactly is "invisible glass"? Is that the brand name of the product?
  2. Not exactly sure how to explain it, but there is what seems to be a "filmy" residue on my windhield that I cannot get rid of. It literally blinds you as the sun hits it. So far I have tried Windex, Windex with vinegar, changed out the wipers, and I even took a razor blade to the glass trying to "scrape" the residue off. No dice. Anyone have any tips? The car is stored indoors at all times and this problem has been ongoing for quite some time now.
  3. I had just received a call back from Porsche corporate regarding this issue. They stated that they spoke to a regional tech manager who said that it is normal if the car operates between 160 and 260 :o Pretty big range. Don't really know what to do anymore really. If this is normal I'll just leave it alone. Any others having this issue?
  4. 2 - I would figure the smell would have been burned off by now, it has been a few months now. 3 - Mine runs "center or a little higher" during highway runs when I believe the cooling system is functioning properly. My issue lies with it running near or at 3/4 on temp. gauge during the "stop n go" city driving. Do you experience 215-220 in "stop n go" city driving? Thanks.
  5. Does yours operate at 215-220 during city and "stop n go"? How about the fan staying on afterwards? Any slight smell of coolant?
  6. This is a long one... 2004 Cayenne S I have been having this ongoing problem for a while now: In city driving and "stop n go" - the car runs in the 215-220 degree range. I do smell a little bit of coolant and the fan does stay on for a while after I park the car. Once I get on the highway and pick up speed, the temp drops back down to "half" on the gauge and seems normal. Late December I took the car in for warranty service regarding this issue. At that time, the car would leak coolant and at one point was low enough to illuminate the coolant level warning on the dash. Dealer stated I had cracks in the cooling pipes and they needed to be replaced. They literally held my car hostage for 2 1/2 weeks until the newly designed pipes came in from Germany. Picked the car up and all of the symptoms were still there except for the actual leaking coolant. The city driving along with "stop n go" was still around 215-220 degrees, the coolant smell was sometimes still there, and the fan would stay on after parking the vehicle. Again, the vehicle would operate normally at prolonged higher speeds. No coolant light on dash. I finally had a chance to take the car in again in February (different dealer this time) to address the issue. The said they supposedly found "air bubbles" in the system as well as a loose hose clamp. They bled the system and tightened the hose. After they took it out for prolonged drives they pronounced the car to be operating in the normal range now and NOT 215-220. After I pick up the car and drive off...you guessed it - the same exact symptoms as before. "Stop n go" is still at 215-220, the fan stays on after parking, and a slight coolant smell at times. No coolant light on dash. I call a different service writer who states he used to be a tech and he claims that 215-220 is normal operating for city and "stop n go." Says the fan staying on is normal as well. Why wouldn't the other service writers tell me this? Who is giving me correct information? Do these cars have a conventional thermostat that may not be opening properly? Where do your cars measure as far as temperature? If this is truly normal I would simply like to know so that I can drop the issue. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. You can buy individual pieces. Got mine from sunsetimports.com Good prices.
  8. The tape is a good idea but I was pretty careful, no damage and real simple.
  9. Anyone have any experience with snow chains on the Cayenne "S"? I was thinking of picking up a set for my 20" wheels but the cost is staggering - over $1,000 for a set of 4. I would like to know if anyone has used them and what opinions are. Also, any good sources for better pricing? Thanks.
  10. Thanks Cannoli! I did end up ordering from Sunset and their price was very reasonable. Is the removal and install pretty straightforward? I am assuming I simply "peel" off the old one starting at the edge and unclip at the connection points? Then just press the new one in place?
  11. Hey folks. I am in need of the drivers side Interior Aluminum Trim located on the drivers side door directly left of the door handle. I tried searching for it with no luck really. Anyone know of a good source for this stuff for decent prices? Used or new. This is for a 2004 Cayenne S. Thanks.
  12. Thanks Fella! I had the handbrake microswitch problem. 8 Bucks and 1 hour later I'm back in business. Kudos to Tool Pants.
  13. Thanks CJ. I have never even realized that the chime is gone - interesting. I am in San Francisco so will try to find a shop here to turn the light off. Thanks.
  14. Hey guys, newbie here. I have an '02 Boxster where I had to replace the drivers side seatbelt. I did find onee from a '99 Boxster that had a 2 pin connector compared to the 4 pin that came out of the car. The switch was successful except for the fact that now the airbag light is illuminated. I changed nothing else. How can I turn this light off? Do I need to find a 4 pin seatbelt like the original to fix the problem? Thanks.
