  1. The 05 only played mp3's late in the model year. PCM2.1 (dvd version) plays mp3 The 05 is pre wired for CDC4 and is plug and play. The ! is most likely due to lack of GPS antenna etc. Forget the CDC, add a mObridge unit and hook up and iPod
  2. :jump: I am testing it. Sounds great, not on final software load yet. I expect a couple of months yet
  3. Pencil Coils, will be replaced under warranty
  4. That sounds more like coils I have a 04 S with 40 K miles. I took it in with a similar complaint although my stutters ( to the point of feeling like the car is shaking. It occurs usually when I am accellerating lightly around 15-25 mph . The dealer test drove it and for once felt my complaint. He has said it is the valve body in the transmission. ( I have no idea what that is ) Our main mechanic is out ( surgery) and they will repair it when he returns. I was skeptical of this diagnosis until you ( shastamonk) mention the same thing... Did it work ??
  5. Nope you will need the 2.1 headunit also
  6. The 04's are fine IF they were updated by the dealer during their life so far, if not the niggles will kill you. Everything you describe is covered by one TSB or another. If its under extended warranty they should fix. Hi folks, we bought an '04 CS two weeks ago, 45k miles, Porsche certified, with the 2 year, 100k warranty. two days after we got it, check engine light came on, several entry/drive items were not working right, and we had the "check headlight alignment" message. took back to the dealer for 3 days and they replaced a couple of modules and sensors. had it back two days, and the Bose system stopped working-no sound from any input. a couple of engine cycles later, and we had sound back, out of the blue. We purchased an '02 Boxster S in 2006, also certiied, and it has been rock solid. not a hint of a hiccup. I guess I am really feeling bit a little, wondering if I'm going to have nagging electrical problems forever......anyone else expereienced this? just wondering if I'm expecting too much for the Cayenne to be bug free, as it is the most over-engineered, technology-laden vehicle I have ever seen.. love driving the vehicle. we drove every lux. SUV, and nothing came close to the Cayenne experience........ thanks for your input.
  7. I dont know if this is a V6 or V8 but it prices like a 6. 1 - Clear Side Markers 2 - mObridge iPod interface 3 - Clear Bra for Front 4 - 20 inch Wheels and Summer Tires (keep the turbos for winter) Enjoy
  8. I replaced the AIRCON fan yesterday ($165) I thought it was going to be straight forward and it was except for 1 PIA screw (as usual) but it fixed the noise (a lot of crickets singing) now I can be warm again. Thanks guys Sorry for the quality of the pix, camera phone I'm afraid, being to lazy to break out the good one. Mike
  9. 1 - the service period is 20K but the computer will tell you 2 - The arrow on the display is your current position 3 - no it will not tell you the street your on (this aint no tomtom) 4 - the display is so as not to distract you 5 - Isn't it about time you RTFM 6 - the rear view camera is to make sure you don't hit something NOT to see backwards You will still have to look where you are going 7 - I think you just press the button on the handle to lock the doors, I don't have that option RFM ?
  10. Or a Mobridge unit No that was not available until 05/06 You can buy a nav-tv device which I use to give me a aux-in
  11. 1 - Fan always stays on for a while 2 - Coolant smell is most likely overspill burn-off and will disappear over time 3 - Center to a little higher during a long run or in the summer otherwise center
  12. I agree with Dennis, Secondary By-Pass first ( I have ), you can feel it then maybe Giac (I don't have even tho they are 5 miles from my house) They also say that 10lbs off of unsprung weight = 100lbs off of sprung weight. JR
  13. What you describe sounds like a normal Cayenne. The pipes fail and leak they do nothing else to impact operation. Mostly in warmer climates. I see nothing wrong. I have an 04S.
  14. You can use the speakers, not the amp. Most likely there will be MOST errors but only PIWIS will see them. Will not be cheap.
  15. 3ball are you saying the shifting program changes when you change suspension settings? JR That is not correct 04 S operation, could be old DME flash
  16. What you describe is the drive by wire or "egas" delay or hesitation. Its not going away on an 04 but you can learn to live with it using Tip in circumstances where you need oomph
  17. If you have miles of patience get the Denision, if you want something that just works get the Mobridge unit (www.mobridge-usa.com) I have a group buy in progress on the rennlist Cayenne board $499 to members Mike
  18. anything produced past 03/03 is a 04 model or shoudl I say sold as an 04 model
  19. I have a rear bumper which you can have PM me Mike
  20. I'd be especially interested in the results of the frankenstein operation. I've wondered the same thing. My wife's HUMMER has a fantastic DVD-based nav system, and I wish the Cayenne had something similar. I actually sent an email to Navteq asking for a custom CD project for my Cayenne, and I offered to pay for it. They didn't return my email. Let me know how it works. I am sure we could raise money for the hack
  21. Check ebay. I have bought several Porsche nav disks there. I only had to make sure that they were compatible with my PCM version. There are no updates for 04 PCM since early 05. there will be no more, per PCNA in future by TomTom 10 times better and always up to date
  22. I agree, sorta. If you are mostly highway I can believe 3 times, with a mix of city/highway 2 times may be more advisable. Dont pay, do it yourself
  23. I changed to Hawk no dust pads, I am amazed how my wheels look
