  1. Loren, Finally started the console delete project this afternoon. Got the old 'cage' removed and as soon as I get the a/c wiring harness moved I can proceed. Is there a trick to getting the wiring harness from below to the upper position? There are 4 connedtors on the harness at the back of the a/c controls unit. These have to go behind the remaining bracket and then get fished up to their new upper location. Maybe a fish cable? Got the radio slid forward to provide more room. Help Joe
  2. Actually, I'm going to be doing the console delete so I won't need the storage bin. Taking out the CD holders along with cupholders. Thanks for the tip about the guy maybe wanting the cupholders. Thanks, Joe
  3. Tool Pants, So when I move the A/C up above the Radio will I need the A/C trim part # 996 552 339 00 01C like you posted in another thread? Joe :clapping:
  4. Thanks Loren and Tool Pants for the useful information. You guys RULE!! Sounds like a good project while my 996 is sleeping for the winter. While I'm at it I will replace the CDR 220 with the TrafficPro I just got off of eBay. Now I have to get some updated CD's for the TP unit without blowing the budget. Anyone have an up to date Eastern CD they want sell? Thanks again Joe
  5. Tool Pants, Thanks for the reply, the unit I have coming has an amber display. Where's the best place to place the GPS antenna, in the center with the security (blinking light) gizmo? Love that technical jargon.
  6. I saw two separate models on eBay as well and have questions into the sellers. One is from a BMW E38, don't know about the other one yet. Have a question on the Becker board as to compatibility. Thanks for the help. Will keep at it. Joe I know that they are single DIN units so they will fit into the dash. I think that most Beckers are Standard in terms of the rear plug-ins for the wiring harness' but don't know for sure. Also, finishes may be different (i.e. satin vs. gloss). Good luck, let me know how it goes if you buy one and install it. One of the units was installed in a 2003 Buick LeSabre in its prior life. Owner says he upgraded to a more expensive nav system. May just try it and if it doesn't work I'll resell it on eBay. Joe

  8. My center console has my heater/ac controls and cd drawers in it. Above on dash console is my radio and cup holders (which I never use). How difficult is it to remove cup holders and remount heater/ac into the void left by it before doing a console delete
  9. I would like to get a NAV system for my 996 C2 MY01 coupe. Tried to find a TrafficPro at Crutchfield but they're not selling them any longer. The original MSRP on these was $800 or $900 but they're just not available. Anyone have a good used unit for sale or can you recommend a suitable substitute? I have the original CDR 220 (no CD changer). Any Help? Joe
  10. And then it won't drain the battery? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks, I believe things _were_ turned off so it may be a weak battery. I'm reasonably certain it's now weaker due to discharging the battery. Joe
  11. Is it normal for the battery to die if a key is left in the ignition? I left mine in the ignition the other night (In the off position) and when I tried to start it a day later no go. Battery was dead. I hooked up my Porsche battery maintainer/charger via the cigarette lighter socket and it charged right up. Any help here? What does it do to discharge the battery with the key in it? Joe :drive: '01 996 C2 Speed Yellow
  12. Ordered it through porsche-parts-direct.com for $250.89 free shipping. This was their last left tail light, one for the right side would have been over $400, must have been a newer order more in line with the deutsche mark/dollar difference. Thanks Loren.
  13. Thanks Loren, I will check it out. I may be able to get one for about $250 new.
  14. Could someone please provide the part # for a left rear tail light assembly for a 2001 Porsche 996 C2 Coupe, 3.4 liter, 6 speed transmission, LHD. I'd like to order one online, but it seems there might be some confusion, the correct part # should eliminate any confusion. Thanks, Joe Akron, OH
