  1. I had the exact same issue with the same symptoms . I had the loud bang pulling away from the traffic lights, engine ran, clutch worked in out of the gears but no drive. It turned out my axel bolts worked lose on the drivers side ( it was my fault I never tightened them up after replacing my wheel baring) as I don't have LSD, the car would not move. A quick fix and no damage. It taught me to double check everything in future. Hopefully it's a simple fix for you, good luck
  2. I put the M030 kit in my car about 3years ago.I have had issues on the track (DE days) with the front left wheel locking up. On inspection I have found that one of my right rear struts rebounds at a much slower rate. I plan to replace both rear struts part number 996.333.051.13 but the price for two struts is close to the same as the kits. Does any one know the M030 complete kit part number for a 1999 C2 911 cab. Thanks in advance
  3. Hi All I recently purchased a pair of new front TGR camber plates from a fellow PCA member. Unfortunately they did not come with install instructions. I have noticed the profile on both sides of the plates is different I don't know which way is up also the bushings are different profiles and I don't know which one goes where. If any body would have some specks or a photo it would be great. I have searched the net but no luck. Thanks in advance Christopher 1999 C2 manual Cab
  4. Thanks Loren I was told the wheel are replicas from wheel enchantments and the were off the 2001. What would the off sets be for an 8" front and a 10" rear. My plan is to run 245/40 17 and 275/40 17 hoosiers for DE events thus the wider rims.
  5. Hi All, I am purchasing a set of rims for my 1999 C2 cab. They are 17" wheel from a 2001 C4. Will they fit on a 1999 narrow body fronts will be 8" and rears 10" what should the offsets be I do not want to use spacers. I just want to confirm they will fit before I buy them. . Thanksin advance Christopher
  6. Hi All Car 1999 manual c2 cab ABS but NO PSM When I get on the brakes hard on the track the front left locks up while the pedal shudders as the abs is activated on the other wheel. I can also reproduce this in normal driving if I brake hard the left wheel locks while the abs controls the one on the right. A number of years ago I replaced the right wheel carrier and speed sensor with a used one. I believe I had the issue before this but cant be sure as I was not tracking the car then. I feel the car has more braking ability which I am not reaching because the wheel locks up and chirps. Different tires and brake pads produce the same result I had the car balanced and it is good as it was suggested as it may be a weight transfer issue. I have also noticed that the ABS light does not come on when the abs is active. The light does work. I had some one use the Durametric on the car and no faults were found anthough the scanner had difficulty connecting to the car. if i drive in reverse aprox 10 mph and hit the brakes the front left locks up and skids it releases when the pedal is released. I have changed the brake fluid a number of time with no difference. My brake pads ware evenly all around the car. The pads on the front and the back ware out at the same rate which is a little strange as I expect the fronts to ware out first Does any one have any suggestions to this issue. Thanks in advance CRSTFR
  7. Hi All, This will sound strange. I have driven in over 25 DE days and run solo in the white run group. When I brake hard on the track my front left wheel chirps and i get a little movement in the steering wheel. The front of the car sceems to dive a little from side to side. I feel like the car has more braking ability but it cant reach it because of the chirping and loss of grip I have changed the following with no apparent difference to to the issue 1. I have changed the brake fluid and the brakes lines. 2. I have change to new rotors changed pads from stock to Hawk hp+ 3. Changed tires from bridgestone to Hankook Rs2(great tire) 4. no visable difference in the pads and tires wear form the front left to front right. 5. inspected my brake calipers all look good also I changed my suspension to the eur M030 I suspect the issue was not there before the suspension change but i am not sure as I was not driving as fast then. I have noticed that my brake pads ( front and rear) all wear at the same rate no matter which compound I use. I hear from othere at the track that they replace their fronts twice as often as their rear pads. I also notice that the chirping is more noticeable when I am on my own in the car but when I have a passanger it is less. It has been suggested to me that i may have bad ABS/ bad master cylinder ,car needs to be balanced.(how do you balance a stock suspension) I am planning to change to r compound tires and run Hawk DC60 fo the next event in August. but i dont know how they will effect the problems My car is 1999 c2 manual cab with no PSM and no traction control. I do as much work my self on my car as possible. Thanks in advance Christopher
  8. The lines beside the front right jacking point are crushed.(I can tell you where not to get work done in ma) I only noticed it now that I need my a/c and it is not working. I have searched but I am unable to get details how I can remove and repair both lines. What is in them can I just disconect them and fill the system again with refriderant when I am done. Thanks 1999 911 manual cab
  9. Hi All Can I put 235/40 ZR18 on the front and 265/40 ZR18 rears on a 1999 996 cab. I understand the fronts are wider and the rear ratio is different will this be a factor.A friend has offered the tires to me off his Cayman. I have oem rims on my 996. Thanks Christopher 1999 996 manual cab
  10. Thanks Loren 1999 c2 6 speed manual cab ROW M030 sport kit number was 000-044-500-15 Front spring 996.333.531.12 rear spring 996.343.531.12 Front strut 996.343.041.16 Rear strut 996.333.051.13 Rear sway 996.333.701.26 Front sway 996.343.701.21 Plus bushings and rear bumpers Is this correct for my car Thanks Christopher
  11. Hi I am installing a ROW M030 sport suspension I purchased from my local dealer in my 6speed manual 1999 c2 cab. The spring colors are, fronts 1 dot top green, lower green and red rear 1 dot top white, lower two green and red Is this correct for the ROW m030 for my car. The fronts(have not got to the rears yet) I just removed were 1dot green top brown, blue lower can any body identify what I had on the car Thanks Christopher
  12. Hi All, Here is an update. On inspection the bolt to adjust the camber was loose, causing the wheel to move It was torqued to spec on the nut side but the bolt was moving. Apparently the washer had bound on the bolt threads and was not seated correctly. The boly, nut and washer were replaced again so I think all should be good now. Thanks for all the help
  13. Hi All, I need advice. My car was very loose and wobbley in the rear at a DE event. I brought it to my indy he told me the right rear toe was all wrong and a bushing in the control arm was worn and the bold to adjust toe was bent. I have had no accidents with the car and I have had no issues at all with the suspension prior to this.He replaced both rear control arms and adjustment bolts. He set the rear camber at neg2deg and zero toe. He said all looks great I went to auto cross and heard a slight clunk in the rear and the cars handling got real bad. When I drove the car back to the shop my steering wheel was not straight and the car was pulling to the right. crabbing? (I figured he forgot to tighten something ) He said everything was tight but the right rear toe was off again. He loosened up every thing again and reset the suspension and sent me on my way saying he could not find the cause. The car drove good on the highway home. I got home parked up for a few days and then last night I noticed a clunk when I reversed out of the garage and again when I reversed out of a parking space. Now the car is all over the highway the steering wheel is not straight and the car is again pulling to the right. What should I do Any Ideas anybody I have never had any noises coming from the suspension before this or any other issues. I am under a deadlind as I have a DE on Monday. thanks ROW 1999 996 manual cab 64K miles
  14. I brought the car to an independant that works on Porsches. He recalibrated the top the light went out and came back stright away. He said he could get the top to work including the windows with the tester but could find no fault. I still get the alarm chirp when I arm the alarm and the rattle when driving when the soft top is up. Any body got an Idea what could be the problem I am to bring the car back after my DE and autocross this week for him to spend more time on it. thanks
  15. Thanks loren Would this account for the rattle that I hear only when the top is up. Any body in Nothern MA or Southern NH with a tester. Thanks Christopher
  16. Hi I just topped up the fluid (it was a little low). I also disconected the battery and still no good. The top works up and down but the cycle stop when the windows are suppost to move I can hear clicking (like relays). Light stays on in the dash. Any body got any idea. I did remove the hard top the other day without letting the windows down first would this have screwed it up Thanks Christopher
  17. Hi All I serched but got no answer to my problem My windows wont come up when I close or open my cab top.The cylle is not compleated The top goes fully up or down. The light flashes on the dash and then stays on. I can hear a rattle behind the rear seats when driving with the top up. Also the alarm chirps when armed whither the top is up or down. 18. Hi Does anybody know if a 996 hardtop will fit on a 997 cab. thanks
  19. I have tried easy outs , heat ,brute force and a lot of foul language and still no luck. so i think my only option is removal
  20. Loren I want to remove the wheel carrier and send it to a machine shop. I snapped the head of one of the bolts that holds the caliper and also the one that holds the bracket for the brake line. I have somebody in a machime shop that will fix them if I can remove the wheel carrier and send it to him. I cant understand why this happend I just replaced the rotors in april with no problem I did track the car along with autocross over the summer. I just hope I dont have the same problem on the drivers side. I will have the bearing done while i have the carrier off. Thanks Christopher
  21. Hi to all Has anybody got instructions for the removal of the front wheel carrier on a MY99 C2 911 cab? Is it possible to remove the carrier without removing the strut? Thanks in advance Christopher MY99 C2 911 Cab
  22. Hi All I have a creaking and clunking when I move forward or reverse . It sounds like it is just under the arm rest in the gearbox engine area. It happened a few months ago and then dissapeared, at that time I thought it was the handbreak (It thought the cable was sticking)as it did not happen if it was not used. Now it is back ant every time I take off in forward or reverse. I did have the car up on four jackstands to replase my clutch slave cylinder and I used the engine jacking point it started the noise when I finished the work . Could this be an engine mount(how do i inspect the engine mount and how do i identify a failed one) Any greasing points on the 996 that need grease? Any suggestions to the problem noise and apossible solution Thanks Christopher MY99 manual C2 cab 59K
  23. Thanks Loren I borrowed a bleeder and followed your DIY and all is well now. I also ordered a bleeder from http://www.motiveproducts.com/ so I should be all set for the future. thanks
