  2. Hello everyone,

    I couldn't find a DIY on oil change on a 996 TT

The book shows i can use 0W-40, 5W-40 or 5W-50.

    Does anyone know

1-How many places I need to drain oil from ?? I was told 3 places, 2 turbos and the motor.

2-Which oil should I use ? I live in So cal so the weather is between 60 and 90 degrees most of the time .

  3. Hello everyone,

I just picked up a 996 TT with 88,000 miles on it (90k service was just dont $3k), replacing my 996 C2 with 181,000 miles on it.

the ABS (passenger right corner) kicks in when i apply brakes when making a long right right turn. it feels that the brake paddle pushes back up also.

I think i felt the same thing in my 996 C2 once or twice before but with the steering wheels was turned almost all the way left or right.

    Any idea ???

Now today i noticed that the PSM light comes on when that happens.

  4. Congrats on the new car! If it were me and I had the room I would keep the Carrera. regarding the mods.. Just be aware that you will be going through lots of front spoiler lips if you lower the car. But it will look cool  And you will lose a bit of ride quality (depending on the springs you choose.)

That exhaust system looks nice. Haven't heard of that brand though.

The specs on that K & N filter says "Not legal in California" that could be a problem for you during smog checks and could cause a CEL. Perhaps you're planning to put the stock box back on when it's time for smog.

Now you have two... I love it...:clapping:

    Enjoy!

Thanks but where does it say K&N is not legal in CA ??

I have the same Filter for my 996 C2 and passes smog every time :)

K&N 57 SERIES GENERATION II FIPK COLD AIR INTAKE SYSTEM -- 50-state legal, C.A.R.B. exempted with E.O. number D-269-34; Provides additional power up to 23.80 h.p. at 5500 RPM; 96 to 99 percent filtration efficiency; Includes black roto molded intake tube, red air filter, heat shield, and all the necessary hardware for installation; Fuel injection performance kit; Features high density polyethylene intake tube that is custom engineered and aerodynamically designed to drive air into your engine; Its washable and reusable air filter is made of multiple interwoven layers of surgical cotton gauze infused or charged with oil for outstanding filtration and airflow; Comes with a heat shield that is custom designed to isolate and provide cooler air; Virtually eliminates intake tract restriction by replacing the air filter and the entire air path to the engine; Can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings depending on driving conditions; Easy to install.

  5. Hello everyone,

I just picked up a 2002 996 TT tip $25k with 88k miles on it as my daily driver...replacing my 2000 996 C2 tip with 181,000 miles on it.

needs some work to make it mine.

I really dont want to spend too much $$, i am looking at

1-Lowering (just for look) will never race it. I like the ride so i dont want it to change much just lower (H&R springs)

    2-Exhaust (catback) (peedTech 70mm Hi-Flow Exhaust Mufflers Porsche 996 TT )

    3-Cold Air Intake

    http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/search/?Ntt=cold%20air%20intake

    4- Tint

    what do guys think ??

and what should i do with my old 996 C2 Tip with 181,000 miles on it ?? worth $12k ish

  6. great thx

    i was going to sell the 2000 996 cuz i got a 2002 996 TT

but looking at all the rig u have i am having a 2nd thought ...

    hmm

    :drive:

    Hello everyone,

    I have 2000 996 C2 Tip with 181,000 miles on it ..

the brake wear light has been on for a while and i thought i need new brakes in the front

so i just change the pads, but the light (Brake Wear) stays on..

is the dealer or a porsche mechanic the only one that can turn that light off ??

If you did not do so, you probably need to change the wear sensors. One on each side. And I think on a 2000 you can disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer. That should do it. Unless you changed the front brakes, and it is actually the rear brake sensors that are triggering the light?

    Good luck.

    DC

  7. LOL i did not put the miles, has 88,000 miles mostly freeway

he did 60 freeway miles each day to work and back for 5 years he doesnt work full time.

You can get order new trim parts from any Porsche dealer, or try Sunset Imports: http://www.renntech....ffers&do=sunset

Has it done mega-miles? Is that why the trade-in offer was low?

Generally speaking, Porsches in the US are cheaper than here in the UK, but (without knowing more details) that seems like a very good buy.

  8. I driver it till it stops ...

PDK that i was talking about is on the new 2010 997 TT not replacing my tip with a PDK

Here is pix i took few min ago

    Wow, nice milage :)

Interesting...at what milage do you plan an engine work over? Regarding the PDK...would be intersted in it too...do you know how much will need to be changed i.e. is it plug and play gearbox or do you also need other parts and what about the different computer systems?
