  1. ... and/or torque. Hello Loren, I'm assuming that you don't recommend it, correct? In this case I think that I will go ahed and look for installing the Powerkit from Porsche Thanks Liberato
  2. Do you think that those Headers are fine for my Porsche 996 4S http://www.maxspeed-motorsports.com/996headers.html I would like to buy them but I need you advices and opinions also regarding the vendor maxspeed. The vendor told me that I can earn 15 Horse Power but my Porsche dealer said that it’s impossible... I was also planning to install the Powerkit from Porsche but everybody I meet do not recommend to install it. Thanks in advance for your help Liberato
  3. Anybody knows about this POWERKIT for 996 (P/N: 000 044 100 15) that brings HP to 345? I would like to install it on my 996 4S mod. 2004 and need your advice as I asked to my local Porsche dealer and their response was that they never installed one before as usually the client request it as an optional when he bought the car....
  4. Hello Lauren, I apologize for the misunderstanding; in fact the 50 USD was related to cheap aftermarket Short Shifters available on EBay. The B&M Short Shifter is half price of the genuine part (000.044.700.26)... and is available at BMracing web site http://www.bmracing.com for USD 270. Thank you very much for your prompt response and good feedback... I will order the B&M Short Shifter. Liberatod
  5. Hello Loren, I was looking to install a Short Shifter on my Porsche 996 4S mod. 2004 and need you advice to chose the best option: 1. Buy the genuine Porsche Short Shifter P/N. 000.044.700.26 (it is very expensive and require a modification on the gear shift bracket which is not reversible) 2. Buy the B&M Short Shift from B&M Racing P/N: 45135 (it seems to be the best after market product compared to others that are very cheap around 50 USD and is the half price of the genuine one above). I would appreciate if you could provide the best advice and let me know if it is also compatible on Porsche Boxters 986... Many Thanks in advance for youe help Liberatod
  6. Hi Brian, I replaced the broken shafts with the two new ones you sent me. Your shafts are working very well and are exactly the same as the original ones (CONGRATULATION FOR THE EXCELLENT WORK DONE as I saved 2500 USD). I noticed also that yours are more flexible than the original ones that are very rigid with high risk to break…. I strongly recommend to buy the shafts made by Brian for 25 USD Liberato
  7. I have a quick question for the experts on this forum. I replaced the exhausts on my Carrera 996 4S mod. 2004 with a new Sport one with a tip Switch. Do you know if my previous exhausts can be installed on a Carrera 996 model 2001? Here are below the part numbers: Left P/N: 996 111 237 02 Right P/N: 996 111 238 02 Thanks in advance for your advices. Liberato
  8. Could you please post the contact name of this guy in Canada? I have broken one and was not able to find this part on the market. Thanks Liberato Many Thanks to Tool Pants for his precious help to get my issue fixed. Liberatod
  9. Could you please post the contact name of this guy in Canada? I have broken one and was not able to find this part on the market. Thanks Liberato
  10. Hi Loren, I was able to find the root cause of the problem; in fact the issue was a small rectangular part responsible to transmit the signal to the display. Talking with Birba Racing Company (www.birba.com) worldwide leader on Dials for Porsche, they told me that this plastic part in reality is a fiber.... I have also become now a specialist on dismount Instrument Cluster and change dials. Should anybody from this forum need dials in miles for North America, please contact directly: BIRBA RACING Gianfranco Benevento www.birba.com Tel. 0039 081 8371557 Fax 0039 081 8371595
  11. Hi Loren, Do you know which of the three cables contain the signal for the speed? I have been told by a friend that could be the optical connection.... I escalated the issue to my Porsche dealer and now I need to wait 1-2 weeks to get the instrument cluster replaced under warranty. However I requested to have the model with the white dials and they responded that it was not possible because an exchange needed to be done with the exact part-number. Liberato
  12. This is the original instrument cluster. It has never been replaced in the past.
  13. Hi Loren, I appreciate your quick response. I checked the three connectors in the back of the Cluster (Gray, Blue and Green connectors and both are firmly locked). I also checked all connectors on the mother-board of the Instrument cluster and didn't find anything. I really suspect that the motherboard is passed away. I will check tomorrow with my Porsche dealer and will let you know.
  14. Hi all, I had an issue yesterday on my car where I noticed that the instrument cluster did not show the speed on the small display on the left. I checked several times and didn’t find anything broken excepted the clock knob when I removed the instrument cluster. I noticed leds soldered on the motherboard when I opened the Instrument cluster but no bulbs like the previous 996 models. Any suggestion on how to resolve this issue and get it fixed? Do you think Porsche will replace the instrument cluster under warranty? I just renew the warranty at my Porsche dealer 3 weeks ago! Thanks Liberato
  15. The Installation is very easy if you follow my instructions. You just need to pay attention when you use the fiber and relax when do connections. Liberato
  16. Hi All, I attached below the procedure I used to successfully install the Dension Gateway 500 dual FOT on my Porsche 4S with PCM2, Multi CD-Changer, Bose Sound System and GSM Phone. However I'm still not happy about the quality of support I received from Dension!!! My feeling is that they are only taking care on responding on-time to any open open tickets and missing follow-up. I'm still waiting for a response on how to obtain a Dock Cable with Blue MINI-DIN connector to use with new iPod models. Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks Liberato GW500_Install_996_PCM2.pdf
  17. Hi All, I would like to replace the black dials with white dials on the instrument cluster. I found this link that cover 986 ----> http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...796&hl=dial Anybody knows if additional documentations are available and cover 996 starting year 2003-2004 Thanks in advance for your help. Liberato
  18. Could you please post the following information in order to help you on fixing your GW500 issue: Type of Dension configuration chosen (1-2-3) as per the dual fot installation guide Dension dip-switch configuration Options in your car: i.e PCM, CDC, etc. Location where the Dension GW has been installed (rear the PCM, after the CDC or instead the CDC Thanks Liberato
  19. Here is the Porsche part number I found for the iPod musicplayer 997.044.901.70
  20. Porsche is now proposing a special kit for 997 named musicplayer (see attached documents) with P/N: 997 044 901 70. The cost is 350 Euro and it takes around 2 hours to install. Anybody know if this kit is compatible with 996? 370824_Information_Musicplayer.pdf pricelist_gt3_my08_pd.pdf
  21. Hello Loren, I purchased a second hand Porsche 996 Carrera 4S mod. 2005 with PCM2 (Software Ver. 3.0), Bose system, GSM module and CD Changer. From the first day, I noticed and escalated to the local Porsche dealer in GENEVA (Switzerland) an issue with the GPS where the voice both French or Italian was distorted and not understandable. I tested without success another navigation CD set (3 CDs) release 2003 & 2004 and also escalated the issue to Navteq but the response I received was that the voices (woman/man) are recorded into the PCM2 and not on the Navigation CD sets. however I also contacted Porsche in Switzerland, Italy, French and Germany to see if there was any new software upgrade available to correct this issue and the responses I received were unclear: - The voice distortion cannot be corrected (it happen also with new GPS model PCM2.1 with DVD) - The software upgrade is not available (local dealer) - Software upgrade version 3.1 is available - Another software upgrade version is also available Could you please check from your side and let me know if this problem is correctable and which software upgrade is really exist for the PCM2. Should I can escalate this problem to Harman/Becker in absence of Porsche support? Best Regards, Liberato
  22. V3 is the HW revision of Gateway 500. (Its written on the bottom of the metal box). Check install instructions on: http://support.dension.com/downloads/Gatew...stall_Guide.pdf (Type 2 refers to the typical installation with dual optical connectors.) Thank you All for your response. Now the challange is to find the GW500 V3 available with dual fot as many vendors sell the previous model. However I will wait and see also on the evolution from Dension support on having the ipod Generation 6 full compatible. Liberato
  23. Hi All, First of all, I wish you happy New Year 2008. I purchased a Porsche 996 4S mod. 2004 with Bose system, PCM2 + GSM module "software rev. 3.0", CD Changer and was looking to install a Dension Gateway 500 to connect either an iPod or USB MP3 Player. After long investigations, I found the following: - My iPod Classic generation 6 and the iPod nano gen 3 are not fully compatible (http://www.dension.com/dension_apple_matrix.html) - There is also a potential risk that the internal GSM module is not working requesting a PCM reset - CD Changer is not recognized - In same cases a Yazaki fiber cable kit is required - Dension gateway is not supported by Porsche in case of issues I contacted Porsche Switzerland and Porsche Italy and didn't receive any official position from them regarding on how to integrate iPod on Porsche with MOST bus. Do you know what is the situation and recommendations in USA? Do you know if is possible to replace the multi-CD with another one that support MP3 format or with a Multi DVD player? Best Regards Liberato
