  1. Funny. I changed my plugs Yesterday, too. Mine runs smoother & stronger than ever now. Sorry you are having problems. From what you describe it appears at least one of your plugs isn't sparking now. Either one of the coil-on-plug units has gone bad or you have a bad wire/connector. The torn one could be the cause. I suggest you get the code read (buy a cheap reader or rent one) -- I don't recommend driving the car since you may damage a catalytic converter. The code will tell you which cylinder bank is misfiring, which will at least reduce the problem to one of three cylinders. If it is the side with the torn connector boot, then start by replacing that one. Good luck.
  2. What color was the smoke -- white/grey = coolant, blue = oil, black = unburned fuel -- this would help determine if there is anything to be concerned about. If it was blue or black, I wouldn't worry. If it was white, I would watch things closely... that could indicate a failing head gasket or cracked water jacket. As a general rule, always let your engine idle until temps drop to normal before shutting down. I drove an air-cooled 911 on track many days over the course of several years and was always careful to ensure it was cooled before shutdown. Those motors cool very quickly, so it wasn't much of a hassle. For our Boxsters, more time is needed to cool them. You may need to let it sit and idle with the fans roaring for 5 or 10 minutes after you return to the paddock even after a couple of cool down laps. Your engine will thank you.
  3. Sounds like the brake pads shifting position within the caliper(s). Did you recently replace some or all of the brake pads? Did you use Porsche parts, an OEM supplier, or an off brand?
