  1. Ok tx, so first thing I will do is a compression test & visual check. I'll post my findings here.
  2. Hi, so based on the sound you think the problem would be a head stud failure ? Is there an easy way to check this before removing the engine ?
  3. Hi, I'm starting to rebuild a 1976 911 targa, 2.7 engine. The numbers are matching but that's about all that is still good about the car. But I love it and I know that is will take time and effort (and $$$) to bring it back to live. I already did a few things before now starting the serious work: the engine. It is losing oil (they all do), but it is not running well at all. It makes a kind of 'clapping' noise. Difficult to describe so I posted a short video on youtube where you can crearly here that there is something seriously wrong. So I already know that I'll have to take the engine out of the car to have it rebuild, but does anybody can 'guess' what the problem is that causes this noise ? So I know a bit more in advance how bad it is... Link to the video:
  4. This is now getting better no ?
  5. Never thought about that, thanks :). But can you be a bit more specific about its position ? I guess that the way it is now (picture) is not okay ?
  6. OK...it was still leaking so yesterday I openend the whole thing...and while opening it I broke part of the headlight mounting plate. I don't understand how it happenend, I followed the descriptions I found on the internet. Maybe I wasn't very careful enough :(. But okay, no big deal, I'll replace it with a new one. I then examined the headlight washer nozzle: there must be a very small leak at one of the openings, so I guess I'll have to replace the nozzle also. Looks very straightforward. But after having removed the headlight, I noticed a cable lying around (see pictures below). I don't see where this cable should be fitted. Anybody knows where it must be attached ? I don't find anything about this cable in the workshop manual. Thanks. Filip
  7. Thanks for your input. To check it, should I remove the headlight unit or rather the bumper ?
  8. Hi, yesterday evening, after returning from my local Porsche dealer for the 120,000km maintenance, I noticed some blue colored water under the car, passenger side, right under the headlight (Litronic). After inspection, I noticed that water very slowly drips out of the headlight washer jet. Very strange, especially that the car just left the Porsche dealer. I'll go back to let them inspect this, but in the meantime, any ideas of why/how ? Everything (headlight washer) seems to work fine. The car is a 2001 C4 coupe, manual transmission, LHD. Thanks Filip
  9. I have a 2001 996 C4 with factory installed CDR22 (and Porsche amp in the front trunk) and an afterwards installed Nokia Carkit CARK-91 connected to the radio. When the phone is in use, the radio mutes and sound comes through one of the speakers, as it should. But the problem is that I hear a whining, annoying sound through the speaker when I drive. Higher RPM's, higher whinging sound. For me it is still not much of a but problem, but the person I'm talking to through the phone has lots of trouble understanding me as he also hears this same whining sound. I did some searches on the forum but without any solution. I read somewhere that maybe a noise suppression filter should be installed, but I don't know where (what wires) I should connect it to. Can somebody help ? thanks Filip
