  1. Hi, Had a nasty experience today: Lots of oil was running out of my cayenne TT today. There is a leak which sprays the oil through the engine compartment (mainly on the passenger side). Are there any known problems? Oil hoses to turbo's of something? Thanks, frank
  2. Hi, I wan't to update my PCM, but the system keeps on saying: cannot read DVD. To be honest, I just got the car (4s, 2006) and there was no navigation DVD included. The PCM also needs a software update because I need to do PBS 9112 (PCM overheating error). My dealer wants to replace my complete PCM, but I think that an update would do the trick. Not quite sure whether my navigation DVD drive is broken, but I have not been able to read any DVD yet (10/2004 or 10/2007). I have an carrera 2s (feb 2005) as well, so I can run a few tests. Would like to have advice on what would be the best way to go further. I could: 1. put the DVD 10.2007 (which I wanted to use for the software upgrade) in my 2005 2s. I am not quite sure whether this would automatically lead to a software upgrade or does it give a warning first? If it gives a warning first, then this would be the easiest test. If the DVD works in my 2s, then there must be something wrong with the DVD reader? (or software??). I can't honestly believe that the DVD reader would be broken, this car is nearly new (3000 miles on it). Any test I can do in order the test the DVD reader. 2. If I can't use the new DVD in my 2s, can I then switch the working DVD reader from my 2s to my 4s? I think that the PCM of my 2s is the ''old DVD based'' one, where the 4s has the after 5/2005 version. Would this lead to problems? Thanks in advance, Frank
  3. That's a pitty. I keep on getting the message "cannot read the DVD". I have used a 7/2008 one (I need the > 5/2005 one for my 2006 c4s). The system can't read the 10/2004 (I know it is the wrong one, but I wanted to check whether the system could read this one) one from which is working in my 2005 c2s. Are there any checks that I can do, or is my DVD reader broken? The dealer could not find anything but the PCM overheating error caused by the 2004 DVD. Any help is higly appreciated. Regards, frank
  4. Hi, I still have someproblemswith my navigationsystem. I keep on gettingthemessage "can't read the DVD". Asfar asI know the DVD is fine. Just wondering, can I use the navigation CD frommy cayenne (2003) to workin my 997 (2006)? I knowthat this system is meant for DVD's but the manualsays that I can use the CDslide (on the PCM) fornavigation as well. Any clous whether this would work? Regards andhave a good weekend, frank
  5. Hi Loren, thanks once again for the quick reply! Where is D9 located? 4th row fromthe top? Regards, frank
  6. Hi, I need to do TSB 9112, therefore I need to remove fuse F9. Where is this located? I know that the fusebox is at the drivers feed. Is this also where F9 is located? Is so what's the logic with the alfabet? Regards, frank
  7. I have gotten the cayenne back today. The cluster is still black, but my wife needs the car tomorrow and they could not fix it yet. I have been searching the site and saw some posts regarding the lights of the display going bad. Question is.... if the licht is dead, do the warnings peeps (airbag deactivation) stillwork, because my airbag is deactivated and I do not hear any warning signal. Regards, frank
  8. Hi Loren, I agree with you but they said that they first need to analyse what caused it. I was just wondering whether something (PIWIS, Service reset) could lead to something like this? Frank
  9. Hi, Just got a phonecall from Porsche where my wifes Cayenne is currently having its service. They let me know that all of a sudden the main display (in the center) went black. Could this perhaps have to do with the fact that there had the car on the PIWIS ore that they where doing something with the battery? Regards, frank
  10. My new 4s (2005) has been standing still for a couple of months with a dead battery. Now that I have new battery I keep getting the message: headlight adjustment faulty. When I powerstarted the car I immediately got the message. After 10 minutes, the warning disappeared. When the new battery got installed I did not see the message anymore for 8 starts. Now it is back again and quite consistent (started the car 15 times and everytime the message appeared. Sometimes the message goes away after 10 minutes or so, but most of the time it stays on. When I start the car, I see the lights go down first before getting to the correct level, so the adjustment motors work fine. What could be causing this error message? I am also puzzled that I do not get the message everytime. Could there be a programming issue or a loose cable? Any ideas?? Thanks, frank
  11. Hi Berty, I do have some keys in my centerconsole, but this has never caused any problems with my 997 cab. Because the alarm only goes off when I turn on the internal microwave sensors there must be something wrong there. The car is scheduled for service anyway, so the dealer can use the PIWIS to see which sensor is the bad one. Thanks, frank
  12. Hi Vicarra44, thanks for the reply. Do you perhaps have a solution for this very common problem. Can I check certain things or do I need to fix/change something? Thanks, frank
  13. I found something in the TSB's which looks like my problem: TSB 9112. Unfortunately all my DVD's are of the 2004 range. I will drive by the dealer and see whether they can do the trick. Thanks, frank
  14. I did some small testing (did not try the locking with the key yet TcomBrad, but will do so today). Found out that the alarm does not go off when I double click when I close the car. The manual says that this will turn off the passenger sensors. Does this mean that there is something wrong with one of my sensors? (there are no flies in my car, so that can't be the cause' ). Are there anymore changes to the alarmsystem when the 'double close' feature is being used? Where are the sensors located? Can I run some tests on them? Best regards, frank
  15. This is what I was affraid of. To be honest, I am slightly affraid that the dealer will suggest to replace the PCM by default, where for instance the fan of the disk reader is broken. I had for instance a broken trun signal sound on my wives Cayenne. The dealer suggested to replace the complete cluster for ''only'' 1800 euro's. I did this myself... took out the cluster, opened it and replaced the speaker. This did the trick for only 3 euro's. Thanks for the reply, frank
  16. Did you try manually locking the car w/ the key had this issue on my Cayman S on Sun and that was the solution just manually insert the key and lock the car if this works i'll tell you the reason why you had this issues good luck I am quite curious what you are aiming at! I will try this tomorrow. I'll let you know a.s.a.p. Regards, frank
  17. is there a way to check this RFM? The car had a completely dead battery and the replaced it this morning.
  18. Hi, My 4s has the alarm going off everytime after 20-30 minutes. Everything is closed and I can't think off a reason why the alarm does not go off emediately but everytime after 30 minutes. I also have a problem with my PCM overheating. Is there perhaps a relationship between these two issues? Best regards, frank
  19. Hi, This morning when I drove my 4s I saw a message on my PCM saying it was shutting down as a safety setting because of the temperature. I turned it back on and it worked fine. This evening I got the same message but now it kept on turning off. Tried 20 times, but everytime I got the temperature message and then seeing the PCM turn off. Any clues? It is a 2005 model and I just put in a new battery (don't think that there is a correlation between the PCM and the battery, but you never know). Best regards, frank
  20. Hi Paul and Loren, Sorry for the late response, but I did not have the time to respond earlier. Thanks a lot for the pictures. Not quite sure what to make out of it and where everything is located, so if you perhaps something that would clarify it a bit more that would be briljant. Thanks, frank
  21. hi, I have some play (vertically on my brake pedal. I went to the dealer and they checked it out. Everything is ok. the only thing they said could potentially cause this, would be some play on the brake arm mechanism at the end (near the gear lever). They said that checking this would be a 2-3 hour job. As a handyman, I would like to do this myself. Does anybody have a diagram of this mechanism. I can't find it in my workshop manual. Thanks a lot, Frank
  22. Hi, The top cover (the plate near the engine that covers the top when it is open) of my 997 S '05 had some closing problems. At one side the cover did not close as nice as on the other side (too high). I did some investigation today and after removing the cover, lifting the rear window and taking away the ''protection'' at the rear (the interior piece that covers the mechanism and electronics in the rear). This showed a good view on the cover mechanism. It is actually a 'kart'on a rail which moves the levers. I noticed that at the side (with the bad closing) the kart did not move to the end of the rail (as it does on the good side). Therefore the closing mechanism is not locked completely. If the kart would move to the end of the rail that the lock would be fully in place and the cover would close as it should have. I know this is a terrible describtion. I wanted to make some pics but the camera is lost womewhere. Does anybody know what moves the 'kart'(cable or something else). Can I adjust the position of the cart on the rails (by opening the cart of with a PIWIS)? Thanks a lot in advance. Frank
  23. Hi, My 997 s '05 with 15K mileage developed a strange 'play' on the brake pedal. If I use the brake and keep the pressure on and then start moving the pedal vertically for 0.2 inch (up and down several times) there is some play on it. The feel can be compared with a normal house door handle where the handle has some play on it before the mechanism start to give counterpressure. I know that it is a bad description of the problem, but i don't know how I could describe it much better. If this rings a bell, please post your thoughts. Thanks, frank
  24. I feel a bit stupid, but I would like to know how to remove the chrome outside door strip (underneath the glass). I can't get it passed the right mirror. Do I have to remove the mirror plastic? If so, how should this be done? Many regards, Frank
  25. I did some investigation today. Look like nothing is bent, but when I open the hood a liitle bit, I can see the the cover opens on one side further then on the other side (it is not parralel to the car). Looks like the opening mechanism are not symetric on both sides. Is it possible to shift the 'block on the rail'a little bit? Or is there an adjustment screw? Does somebody have a closeup of the rail mechanism? Thanks, frank
