  1. The device says as follows; PO139 O2 Sensor Circuit slow response bank 1 sensor 2 Dennis My 2000 911 check engine light came on and the diagnosis with a friend's tool pinpointed it to the left side O2 sensor after the catalytic converter with the message "Bank 1 sensor 2 slow to respond" I am also grateful for your reply Dennis
  2. My 2000 911 check engine light came on and the diagnosis with a friend's tool pinpointed it to the left side O2 sensor after the catalytic converter with the message "Bank 1 sensor 2 slow to respond" Am I correct that this is the sensor after the catalytic for exhaust coming out of the left cylinder bank as one looks at the rear of the car? Reading the forum I then cleaned the connections in the engine compartment properly with contact cleaner but the message still appears intermitently. Can anyone advise me whether this now means the sensor needs to be replaced? Or should I be looking to non sensor causes? If it is the sensor can anyone recommend where I should source one from in the USA. Local price in Canada is OVER $US 300 while one I found at Autohaus was $99. (But I am not sure if it is the right one). If I install a new sensor, do I use any never-seize on the threads before I screw it in? I am envious of the great prices our American friends get! And I am also grateful for your reply Dennis
  3. Hello, After storing my 996 for 6 months the horn did not work. Then after about a 1/2 hour only one of the horns worked and quite softly it seemed. Later not working at all. The fuse is OK and I thought I would check out the relay. Can anyone tell me where the relays are hidden on my car? I have read there is one wire to the two horns so it sounds like the horns might have both gone defective at the same time. Any thoughts?? Dennis 2000 996 C2
  4. Is the service position to leave the roof up and unclip the two cable that hold the back down and then swing the back of the roof up and forward?
  5. Has anyone done a rear shock on a 996 Cab? Is it any different than the process described for the coupe? I am hoping I don't have to mess around with the softop too much I have to replace a leaking shock! Interestingly although the shock has leaked badly, it still seems to work ok as it damps the car well when I push down on it. Dennis
  6. I will be changing my sparkplugs and seem to remember they sit inside tubes that have oil seals at either end. (There were tube leaks under warranty but not since.) Being the first time I am changing the plugs, I am wondering if the tube oil seals are replaceable without taking off the valve covers and if so is it wise to replace them as a preventative measure. Thanks Dennis
  7. Hi Loren The high pitched noise does not vary with engine speed. (I reved the engine to see if it did.) Dennis
  8. When I start my car I get a continuous high pitched whine from the engine compartment. It does not vary with the speed of the engine. I am not able to place where in the compartment but it has a sort of whine one might expect from a rapidly turning electric motor (eg a fuel pump). Might anyone have any suggestions on how to track it down?? Thanks Dennis
  9. While flushing the brake fluid I discovered my left rear shock has leaked out a lot fluid so I presume it is shot. Can anyone advise me on the following? 1) I suppose I should replace both rear shocks or should I? The car has 90,000 kms (55,000 miles) on it. 2) For new shocks I do not need any performance shocks as I just do city driving. Does anyone have any relatively inexpensive aftermarket suggestions? 3) They look easy to take out. Just undo top and bottom bolts while supporting the rear suspension so it does not fall down when bolts are removed. Is this correct? I would then take them to a garage to have the springs compressed, old shock removed etc. Thanks in advance Dennis
  10. Sorry but I forgot to reply that when both inside or outside door handles are pulled, there is no noise like the regulator is trying to work the window (but isn't due to stretched cable). As in my last Email, the microswitches are working as they should (ie they are making and breaking the circuit) Dennis
  11. Thanks for your reply Neither the outside or the inside door handles will turn on the interior lights nor make the widow drop down out of the rain channel. The window up/down switch does work. Today I took off the door panel and check the microswitches. The microswitches on both handles are electrically functioning as they should. There is a third microswitch that senses if the door latch is latched or noth. I could not check it as I couldn't take the latch out without a proper tool but I did spraybrakeclean on it to clean it up and checked that it does make the clicking sound when it is pushed in. Dennis
  12. My car's passenger window does not lower out of the rainchannel when the door is opened. Does anyone have any tips on how to troubleshoot and fix this? Thanks Dennis
