Long story short, buddy with a 996 TT texts me and says his car's thrown the P0491 and P0492 codes. I found this thread: P0491 and P0492 secondary air injection codes - 996 Series ... I read it, pulled the air box, did a visual over the vacuum system, and everything looks ok. I called another buddy who used to be a Porsche tech and he's saying 7/10 times it's bad BOVs and they need to be replaced. I could see it if it was one or the other code, but absent a coincidence, when they both throw at the same time, it suggests to me the problem is something that impacts the entire system. What is the proper starting point to diagnose the SAI system? Power the pump (also, is the pump located in the driver side of the bumper?)? Pull the valves and submerge them? Car has a mystery tune (previous owner) and an Agency Power one-piece CF air box, no other mods that I could tell. Thank You in advance.

Hey All, I had a mObridge unit installed at a local shop. It seems the installer got a little too frisky with the car because I found a part of a label on the floor afterward. I got under the passenger kick panel and found the rest. I reassembled it and am now wondering where it goes (yea, I'm that anal about my car). Please let me know if you know where it comes from, and if so, exactly where so I can reattach it. Thanks in advance, SVTH

My wastegates went out two days before my warranty ran up, but it was a long weekend and I couldn't get it in until the following tuesday (a day after the warranty ran up). It requires replacing both turbos. Porsche honored the warranty minus $120 for diagnosing. It was strange but I'm not complaining. I think they want to ensure the right stories are getting out about them. They certainly didn't leave me high and dry.

I'm replaced my PilotSports with PilotSport Cups and am burning through them. I'm about to mount my second set since February. Any recommendations for a tire that can take track abuse but still rack up some mileage?

Update: My friend/tech confirmed them and their fitment on a 997 TT. the hubs alone are around $5,000 at dealer cost, and then comes the price of new wheels. All of the sudden, my 5 lug looks like heaven.

EDIT: Not GT2, GT3 So I just saw pictures of the new GT2 single nut hubs, very hot. I'm wondering if, in spite of the the turbo's AWD, can turbos have this hub system bolted up? A little too early to tell? http://www.porsche.com/microsite/911gt3/usa.aspx Special > Chassis > Wheels > Alternate View

I'm very happy they've decided to use bluetooth. It's always been frustrating to me that my 2005 Dodge truck has it, but not my 2007 TT. Is the new head unit a direct swap?

I had my iPod input routed through the auxilery 12v inside the armrest, so now there's a big hole with a little wire coming out. Over the months I've lost all sorts of things in there; keys, pens, batteries, whatever. Can someone assist me in the removal of this console so I can recover my accumulated deposit of belongings? chill with the probing. For the V1 (or similar), use the source for the homelink. put the wire through the back of the clips so as not to cut a single factory wire.

is this a deliberately engineered difference? I was going to raise mine (coupe) for aesthetics but won't if it messes with aerodynamics/downforce

pop out the chrono clock and check, directions have been posted here or rennlist or 6 speed. I ask again, how do I find the aforementioned postings?

If you've changed the exhaust system you can get CEL's. O2 (bung) extensions are commonly used for this and almost always fix the problem without going to an ECU flash. thanks for the reply. Does the ECU's perameters have a limit on the lean side or does it only trip a light from the rich side? I guess the question would be, can I simply over extend the bung by about 2" to 3" or is there a "sweet spot"?
