  1. Thanx for all the input. I did a carfax report (had not heard about this before), and found out that the cars has been serviced properly but also that it was a totaled in 2004. Too bad i did not check carfax before I bought the car... :-( It would be interesting to find out how bad the accident was. That will propably be quite hard to figure out. Thanks, Mathias
  2. I have a 1998 986 that was imported to Sweden from the US that unfortunately has no service book. I tried contacting Porsche US to see if they had any records of the car but they redirected me to Porsche AG in Germany. Porsche AG says that they do not keep this kind of information. "Thank you for your e-mail from 17 April 2009. We kindly ask for your understanding that due to reasons of data protection Porsche AG is not able to provide you with a vehicle history. Any work conducted on your vehicle by previous owners is confidential information between the owner of the vehicle and the workshop. Furthermore, Porsche AG does not hold any information on repair conducted, which was at the owner's own expense. We regret that we can not provide you any further assistance in your matter, but wish you enjoyable driving in the future. Yours sincerely Susanne Wendorf Uwe Werner Porsche Contact Porsche Contact - P.O. Could I try each individual workshop? Where can I find contact details in that case? Any help would be very much appreciated. The car is a silver 986 with black leather seats and the VIN number: WP0CA2986WU624272 Thanx /Mathias
  3. I have tried to remove the Carguard alarm but the same problem occurs (even if the alarm obviously does not go off). I can not find any other fault codes either.
  4. I have an interesting (but mostly annoying) problem that I hope someone can help me with. A few seconds after I lock the car (Boxster -98) the interior lights come on again only to dim out again after about 10-20 seconds. This means that my alarm goes off as it is wired to the interior lights. The alarm system is a Carguard T70C and not the original Porsche alarm. I have checked with my Durametric cable without finding anything to explain this odd behaviour. It doesn´t happen every time but more often than not. Any ideas? Anyone? Thankful for any input I can get. /Mathias
  5. Thanks for all input! I have tried the recirc and (+) button (which works fine for the ACC temp display). I have also done the Trip/clock to the one side for a about 10 sec which toogles between kmh and mph. Unfortunately neither of these affect the OBC outside temp display on my vehicle. So it looks like "Toolpants" is right.
  6. I run a -98 2.5l Boxster that originated in California. I recently got my Porsche mechanic to activate the OBC so I get the outside temperature (quite handy in Sweden this time of the year). Unfortunately he did not know how to get it to show Celsius so it is now showing Fahrenheit. Can anyone help me with the menu choices that need to be done on the Piwis for this? Best regards :renntech:
