  1. Boxster S MY2002. Lock and unlock function does not work using the keyless entry system. Manual lock/unlock and alarm setting functions normally. Battery replaced in the key-fob, and the LED light functions as expected with the 3 locking options (Hood, trunk, doors). The Alarm LED does not flash when the the key's LED flashes. Any tips on where to start diagnosis.....I don't have a PST. Thanks Chris
  2. Thanks. Had it checked out yesterday and confirmed that it wasn't the bearing but tire noise. Running on 4 year old Bridgestone Potenzas where the front left tire has developed a very slight unevenness for some reason.
  3. Pulsating low frequency rubbing type sound coming from the front left area. Especially noticeable at lower speeds on smooth road surfaces. Suspect a worn wheel bearing but not sure. Problem not solved by having the front rotors turned and new brake pads fitted. Anybody experienced similar? Any tips on front wheel bearing replacement? Brgds Chris
  4. OK, but what do you do to remove them normally? Do the wires just pull out or what. Chris
  5. Need to change my front brake pads and the service manual just says ''remove wear indicators from brake pads''. How is this done? I can get the wedge shaped wire retainer out of it's housing in the brake pad, but this only leaves a couple of thin wires still attached to the pad. I don't want to go further before some advice. regards Chris
  6. Chris, if you know you can't drive it for an extended period, just move the car (by hand) about 6-12 inches, to help prevent the potential flat-spot. When my car is in winter storage, the first Saturday of each month, I move the car about 12 inches. I also park it on hard/dense rubber matting. Good tips - thanks

  8. Thanks everybody - the flat-spot scenario sounds like good sense. Guess I'll just have to get the car out more often!! have a good summer best regards Chris
  9. Have recently fitted 18" rims and Bridgestone Potenza 225/40ZR18 front and 265/35 rear. Car is a 2002 Boxster S. For the first 10 minutes or so of driving there is a noticeable vibration in the cars steering at about 45 to 55 mph. This disappears completely after a while. I can guess that the problem lies with the new tires - but I would like to ask the forum: Has anyone else experienced this? Does it disappear after the tires become more worn? Is it specifically a Bridgestone problem, or is it more a function of low profile tires in general? any comments/tips would be much appreciated Chris
  10. I've been offered a set of Bridgestone Potenza SO2 N2 for my 2002 986S. Does anyone know if these tyres are still in production i.e. should I be looking at the date markings as one of the first things? Anyone know what the 'N2' stands for? Tyres are 225/40 ZR18 front and 265/35 ZR18 rear. Thanks :)
  11. Anybody know where I can get hold of a PST2 tester - and how much should I expect to pay?
  12. Big thank you to Koen and Dave - all's working fine now!! happy driving Chris :renntech:
  13. The Cascade is now in - all connections are the same as for the original CD-22 HU with the addition of the hands free mike and the reverse signal input. Only problem is that the Amp doesn't wake up when the HU is switched on. Suspect this is because terminal C6 on the CD-22 is a switched live feed (to the Amp relay?) and C6 on the cascade is a subwoofer line out. Anyone know how best to bridge in the Amp relay - can I take it from the switched supply at A7 for example? Chris 986 Car is a 2002 986S with the sound system upgrade = door speakers + separate Amp.
  14. Thanks for the info - I'll let you know how I get on regards Chris :renntech:
