  1. boxtata: I purchased mine from Brandywine Porsche. They did have an ebay listing for some time. It ran along side with PSE (current ebay item number: 7966923042). Anyhow, I'm sure they will take orders via phone (877-666-2884, Tony). I will be installing my Remus soon (in therapy for bad back). So far, I can only vouch for the good quality build and finish. I wasn't looking for more hp when buying - just no drops in power on lower rpms with other exhausts; however, B&M Racing (the U.S. distributor for Remus) said I should expect about a 2% gain. It is my understanding that this muffler also has a lifetime warranty from Remus.
  2. Jefla, give it a few minutes to warm up. My '00 S is a little stiff for about 2-3 minutes of driving (sometimes longer in winter). It it continues beyond warm up, then start thinking what to do.
  3. Does Porsche have a diagram of what is/not leather for standard, partial and full leather cars? I have a 2000 S. The black leatherette is pretty realistic. I want to make sure I am applying vinyl and leather treaments in the rights areas.
  4. My car is coming back from winter storage today and will be installing my Remus exhaust soon. I am happy RMF986 has given it thumbs up.
  5. Mee: I haven't installed that Remus exhaust yet (car is in winter storage until later this month). It is supposed to be direct bolt-on replacement. There is a video file online that someone took of their Remus installed on 986S '00 http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=2130239695 I don't know for sure, but I think the exhaust will fit over the inlets (because there is a slit in the opening which will close when clamped.
  6. I read TSB 2601 regarding installation of OEM PSE. It didn't give any info. on removing stock muffler ( for my '00 S) or torque setting, if any, on installation. I understand that removing the top bolts can be very hard to reach. Will removing rear bumper help? Any help would be appreciated.
  7. I purchased a Remus sport exhaust which I haven't installed yet (car is in winter storage thru end of March). I found a video clip online for someone who installed on a '00 Boxster S. The Porsche dealer from who I purchased the Remus had recommended it over the Porsche OEM Tequipment Sport Exhaust (plus it cost only $700- including shipping). http://www.flat-6.net/forum/printthread.php?t=12041 Once installed, I will glaldly provide my own feedback.
  8. Even without the bonus features, this site is well worth donating too. I am now a proud contributing member .
  9. Thank you for suggestion. I did find 2 tsb "2/00 2601" & "5/04 2601". How do you view them?
  10. I purchased a Remus sport exhaust (muffler only) for '00 986S :clapping: . I am looking for instructions for stock exhaust removal. The top bolt/nuts appear difficult to reach without removing rear bumper <_< . The Remus muffler appears to be properly shaped with hangers, and came with bolts, and collars. If applicable, I would also like the torque specs of all the bolts that will be retightened. Thanx in advance.
  11. The grills on my '00 986S are on the outside for ease of install. The "renntech garage" has a picture against my profile. The cost was around $45.00 (also thru e-bay). I should be receiving the center grill soon. I will upload another photo when installed.
  12. I had the same issue in my daily driver (2000 Acura 3.2TL). It ending up being a bad coil ignition. After replacement, everything was fine. Loren is correct in all the possible items. I was able to identify my problem by exchanging plugs with another cyliner. Same cylinder mis-fire code popped up. Then I exchanged coils and voila the code followed to the next cylinder. If code did not follow, then I would have checked wiring - then injectors.
  13. I agree that Meguiar's # 17 then #10 work well together. Maintain with Meguiar's # 18 or Plexus. I also have had good luck with 3M Imperial Hand Glaze to initially remove stains and exterior hazing. Make sure that the cloth you use to apply and clean will not scratch window.
  14. My neighbor installed the same short shift kit about 2 weeks after mine in '99 996. His shifter is more loose and in-gates all gears without any problem; however, his car has thousands of miles more than mine. His original shifter seemed to loosen up thru about 10,000 (and stayed same since). I suppose it is possible I just need to be patient for more miles to be added. Anyhow, I was curious if others have experienced this same issue to settle my concerns.
  15. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, then what do I need to do to correct it (without causing the same issue for other gears). A local Porsche dealer tech had mentioned to me that since the mileage is still low on the car, it is still breaking in (???). Any thoughts from would be appreciated.
  16. I purchased a speed lingerie for my guards red 986S. I thought the color matching and fit was superb. However, I couldn't justify protecting a bumber with such an expensive bra when the bumper already had several scuffs, dents, and chips. I returned it and subsequently purchased the Porsche brand bra (made by Colgan) and I am pleased with it. I used the difference in cost to purchase a Porsche short shift kit (and still has money left over). If my bumper was perfect, I probably would have kept the colored bra.
  17. I installed a Porsche short shift kit several months ago. I sometimes have a little difficulty getting from 2nd into 3rd gear. I do not have any problem from 4th into 3rd gear. If I move the shift knob slightly then it slips into gear no problem. This issue seems more prevalent during warm-up and doesn't happen in any other gear. It might simply be how I'm holding the shift knob while shifting since I can correct difficulty into 3rd gear with small wrist movement. The cables were properly marked (I even counted threads) during SSK installation. The SSK arrived to me pre-packaged with Porsche bracket and plastic bushings installed. It does have a Porsche warranty. However, I didn't want to take it in and end up having other shifting issues.
  18. Thank you Loren for your usual prompt reply. I have a 2000 986 S.
  19. Renntech has an outstanding list of current 996 codes on the header. Is there a similar updated list for 986 here?
  20. Special thanks to adsach and dannov for keeping this discussion alive for a newbie. I was able to perform semi-decent heel-toe downshifting in my last boxster drive. Most of my shifts from 4th>3rd were good with well matched rpms. Needless to say, much more practice will be needed to better my technique (especially 3rd>2nd). The contorted foot in my car isn't the most comfortable position compared to other cars I have driven; however, things were looking better by the end of drive.
  21. Does anyone have any experience with EVO High Flow (Cold) Air Intake System (the one which replaces stock air box with cone filter)? After installing, were you happy with results? Any regrets? This is just a thought right now to improve performance and sound.
