  1. My answer is on practical experience, I had a 944 that I only drove about once a month and I change the belt every 2 years regerdless of how few miles I out on it. Just trying to help a brother out.

    plus all the cars I saw get towed in after we tried to sell them a t belt and they answered they would do it next month.

  2. it is 2000 over due!!!!! change that thing every 2 years or 30,000 miles whichever comes first!!!!

    this is an interference motor and it will bend valves. more so if it is a "S" model.

    I have worked on these cars since new and have seen many a person "stretch" the interval to save $$ and end up spending a lot more in a major repair.

  3. you might start looking for a rebuilt box. you are going to sink a lot of money in to this one to make it right again. don't tell the them the core did a burn out! Porsches are not made for burn outs, leave that to the ricers and chevys

  4. stop washing the car!!!! just kidding.

    check the coil wires themselves, check and replace the DME relay. also the DME and LH control unit are located in the passengers kick panel. make sure they are not getting wet when the car is washed. the fuse box is under the wood panel on the passenger floor board make sure it is not wet either.

    under the hood near the fron of the car, I can't remember exactly but follow the wires from the coils. are 2 final stage boxes. make sure water isn't getting in to them either

  5. My PCNA instructer told me Dinks were the beer of choice for beer breaks at the factory.

    true story I was working at a Buick dealer in 1978 when you took off you could hear something move back in the car, when you hit the brakes you heard it slide forward. we narrowed it down to the rocker panel.

    took the car to the body shop and opened the rocker panel to find a coke bottle with a note inside that read "how long did it take for you to find this?" the field rep for Buick wasn't amused
