  1. Before I get blasted for not looking up this topic before posting... I did look it up and all I could find was one post related to these exact wheels... http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...eight++replicas I'm posting this here in the Boxster area to see if anyone has bought these wheels for a Boxster. I know they are 996 narrow body offsets for the rears but that can be fixed with a spacer. Any body bought these wheels? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-...d=p4506.c0.m245 More specifically has anyone bought these wheels for a Boxster? Happy and satisfied? The guy told me they are EXACT replicas but they weigh about 2lbs more a piece. That's a real attractive price. Just a little wary of knock offs.
  2. Loren, Since you seem to be the only one that responds... I think I read on here somewhere that if you push in your brake pedal and rig it to stay pushed in and THEN remove your calipers the brake line won't drain out? Yes, but I would bleed them twice. Since you will no brake fluid in them at all when you re-install. BTW... I deleted your second post ont he same subject - please do not double post.
  3. This thread is in line with the questions I need answered. I have severly corroded calipers/rotors. Can I remove my calipers and reinstall them without needing to hook the car up to PST2?
  4. Wow. Technology rocks. http://www.dynolicious.com/
  5. I ordered them and installed them on my 986. Very happy with them and a very reasonable price... http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?&...tem&CID=736
  6. Looking to upgrade to 18" OEM wheels. I see 18" 996 Turbo twist wheels, 18" Carrera Lightweight 5 spoke wheels, 18" Sport Classics, etc... on Boxsters. These same wheels come on 911's. Did Porsche make all these wheels in two different offsets (one for the 986 and another for the 996) OR do some of the 911 wheels fit the Boxster regarless of the offset that the owners manual recommends? What I'm getting at is I watch the classified on all the forums and also eBay and more OEM take off wheels are available for the 911 but they don't have the offset that my Boxster owners manual recomends. How do I know what will fit and what won't?? Please help. -Tom
  7. Is there a manual that I am missing? No where in my owner's manual does it tell me how to operate the CD changer. I do have a radio quick reference guide but it also doesn't mention the cd changer. I don't have a changer but I do have a Gateway 500. trying to figure out how to acces specific songs on my iPhone. My radio is a CDR-23.
  8. no clue, but Durametrics will clear the light. good luck. Can any OBD2 reader pull a Porsche fault code?
  9. Here's the timeline... My interior has been in shambles for for about two weeks now. I installled the rear speaker kit, a dension gateway 500 and hard wired my V1. My schedule only allows me a few mintutes or hours each night to get all the work done. Battery has been disconnected and reconnected about a dozen times. Today I wrapped it all up. Seats back in. All the trim back in. Double checked the power seat connections. Turn it on and I have an airbag light. Thought maybe I could disconnect the battery again after the seats were reconnected to erase the airbag light. Nope. It's all back together and now I have an airbag light. Anyone have any idea of what I did?
  10. AWESOME! Hope I don't have to take the entire center stack out to figure out which wire is which.
  11. Eric from bumper plugs just told me I need an unswitched power source. is this telephone plug you speak of unswitched?
  12. Anyone who has done this care to tell me where the easiest place to tie into a switched 12v power souce is?
  13. I got the factory kit. I definitly don't have that clip in my kit. Hmmm...
  14. So I started the installation of my rear speakers. No major questions yet but i have a feeling this one is going to require some help your you guys out there. 2 questions for now... #1 Does anyone have a picture of this clip that is supposed to clip to the roll bar? I've got all my pieces out on my bench and I'm not seeing any clip OR where this clip would go on the roll bar? #2 Do I have to run the wire under the plastic piece in the rocker area? I think my directions called it the piece that the carpet attaches to. And one more question... Anyone know of a thread that has clear cut instructions with photos of how to do this install?? Thanks for anyones input. -Tom
  15. I've got the clutch switch click too. So just for my clarification... is the clutch switch supposed to be audible? I can live with it if it is but I want to fix it if it isn't.
  16. Anyone here have any personal experience with speedtech exhausts? Just saw their ad in Panorama and they make a good looking exhaust for the Boxster for only $545 with the PCA discount. Close to my house so I'm gonna go check them out. On the phone they seem like real Porschephiles. Price seems too good to be true. They claim great sound, lightweight, no resonance, quality build, all of the above... If you haven't heard of them here is their website... www.speedtechexhausts
  17. So is anyone on this forum going to tell me that a BMC air filter is worth $117?? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, -Tom
  18. Great. I just got these speakers too. I'm not great with electrical stuff. Sounds like I might have a nightmare on my hands. Hi. Did you manage to get that Bose rear speaker unit fitted? I've recently bought one but had no idea how difficult they are to fit. Thanks, Steve.
  19. Tried this post over in 986 brake questions but didn't get much response. So I'm looking for help over here... I've read that 986 calipers are used on the 987. My goal is OEM cross drilled rotors without having to upgrade my 986 non-S calipers. The 987 has the cross drilled OEM rotors I want. Do they fit my 986? Anyone with 987 rotor specs? Suncoast motors website does make it look like the front rotors off a 987 will fit the 986. They don't make mention of the rears. -Tom
  20. So it looks like the fronts from a 987 will fit my 986. I would also assume the rears would as well? Anyone else?
  21. I've looked everywhere on this site. I have found specs for 986 non-S rotors. I've also read that 986 calipers are what is used on the 987. My goal is OEM cross drilled rotors without having to upgrade my 986 non-S calipers. Do the specs of the 987 rotors match 986 rotors? Loren? He seems to have all these brake specs... Thanks in advance. -Tom
  22. So to confirm you were able to fit your boxster calipers on boxster s rotors?
  23. Had slotted rotors on a Mazdaspeed Miata I just sold. Was happy with them. Just like the look of the Porsche Cross Drilled rotors but if they're not safe then slotted it will be. yes, cast rotors are less prone to cracking. how MUCH less prone is the question. and cross drilled rotors are going to crack whether you track or not. i'm not 100% sure, but i don't think you can use the S rotors on your base. hence the need for aftermarket non-S drilled rotors. ;) have you considered slotted rotors?
  24. Back to the original topic... I've been told that holes in Porsche OEM cross drilled rotors are "cast" in instead of being drilled in which makes them more expensive but also more durable. Any truth to this? I want to do some DE's with the car and I have seen cheap cross drilled rotors crack. All I realy want to know is can I slap a pair of 986 S cross drilled rotors or 987 non s cross drilled rotors on my 2003 986?
  25. Once you go valentine you never go back. I'm on my second one now in 15 years. They let me trade the old one in and buy the newest model for $150. Best customer service I've ever encountered. yes - V1 with PoP. Saved me a few hundred $ up in Northern CA last summer - I was not paying attention to speedo, V1 alerted me in time to back off before seeing the CHP car hidden on a right hand curve. Mount the v1 near the rear view mirror. Search renntech to find hard wire instructions.
