  1. I did the mk11 mod on a 3.6 can, paid $80 to a muffler shop.(Those suckers are huge and heavy)it's not as loud as i thought it would be on idle, but it does sounds really good on high rpm's. I installed the ebay headers that's going for $150 total including shipping. And did the mod for the $10 intake mod also "Air box modification found in DIY Mods by Blueline". All this mods For $240, I am very pleased with the result. The car just goes with a deep sound like a race car. It's amazing, the car is so much more fun to drive now. And it did not cost me a fortune. I highly recommend it. heres the picture i showed the muffler shop. Miks
  2. Dental floss (I hope you have some) :) If you dont go fishing and goo gone. Wax would work also and yes blow dryer helps a lot.
  3. Worn out tires could sound like a bad bearing. depends what tires you put in also. Bridgestone S03 are good quiet tires and michelins too. I had the old yokohama es100 on my Audi and I thought my bearing went bad, but it was just the tires. The pirellis I have right now OEM tires on the rears of my 03 C2(on the wear bar already) it's not as quiet as it used to be, but since the tires on this car is soooo expensive and wears out so fast I will wear it out just a little more. Can't wait to put on new tires/alignment and have that smooth quite ride.
  4. I went to the dealer and they are asking $63.00 this is in the bay area livermore ca. I went on ebay and got one for $48.00 including shipping. It will cost me more if I keep on looking so just went and bought/bid on it on ebay. Never done an oil change on this car so no idea if theres an alternative tool. If I do find out I will post it. Miks
  5. Lightfall, I had my 996 03 C2" for five months now. and i could not just put it to words, but it is a pleasure owning one. I bought the car 350 miles away from home. Flew in with my buddy paid for it and drove it home. I tell you it was one of the most exciting driving experience we ever had. I usually sleep in in a six hour drive. This time I was awake and amazed how this car just handles, accelarates, and everything about it. Before I purchased the car there where other great cars on the lot and my buddy tried to talk me out of the 996 and get the 5 series or the E500 sport or the 7 series instead. I stick with what I wanted and after the drive with him. He was glad I did not listen and he himself fell in love with Porsches. I had someone ask me recently. Is it worth paying for the car? I was actually proud to say yes it is worth every bit of it. Everyone one I took for a drive loves it, a couple will be trading their cars and the others are dreaming to get one. 6 of us owns one now and the girls whewww.........unbelievable they love it. I tell ya your image will change. The fact is most worries never happens. If it breaks down I'm sure it will be expensive like a lot of other cars. But The trill, the pleasure the excitement, the joy that you will experince is priceless. I suggest find one get behind the wheel and see how you feel. Before the 996 I purchased and owned an Audi A4. Before buying it I was comparing it to a newer lower mileage Mitsubishi Gallant(my brother wanted me to get instead) I asked everyone including my own brother before I bought it. Most of them told me to not get it, Audi had some issues before, high maintenance, it breaks down, parts are expensive etc. etc. but one person told me he would buy the Audi if it is him. Out of all the negatives I was surrounded with. I listened to the only one that likes what i like which is the Audi. To make a long story short. I've used that car abuse it, exploit it and put on over 160k miles and it's still going. Happy and Lucky to say no major problems with the car still has the original clutch. I've replaced one hose(radiator)m, brakes, tires but thats about it. Oh yes i upgraded the suspension and wheels. Imagine I was bored I don't have to fix anything on the car. It is a fun car! Good Luck!
  6. Thanks for this post I found and met "Tool Pants" he help me diagnose my car and erase all the codes. He discoverred it was the oil cap (missing) that triggered my engine light on. Dealership could charge me ......who knows for the engine light on. I Put the oil cap on and the car idles ok again and I feel good. Thanks Tool Pants! I appreciate your hospitality. Have a good one! Charles
  7. Cars like ours that goes fast and has stiff suspensions would feel every posible little things. Looks like your vibration happened after you installed new tires. There is a better way to balance a tire. It will be 5 times harder for the tire tech to do it so most of the time they will only do the standard balancing. but for some cases like yours they could set up the balancer and balance it to 1/10th of an ounce instead of just per ounce which means wheels and tires would be balance finer. You have to request this and request to see and test if your tires are perfectly round. there are some cases that tires could be defective even though they are name brands. See also if your tires are wearing out evenly, look at the tread blocks and see if the edges are even if the car is not aligned right, one side of the tread block will be sharper and the other rounder. Bad alignment will cause tires to wear unevenly and could result in vibration. Our soft compund tires wear out fast so a little missalign............It happened to my car got it used so i had it checked including alignment even got a printout and tires was worn in a couple thousand miles so replaced the tires and had the alignment rechecked. Found out the second time the shop aligned my car on c4s or c4 instead of c2 I asked why, the mechanic or tech said he punched the vin to alignment machine and thats what he got. So he manually entered my car and did the adjustment. If your car was lowered also the specs will be or could be different and alignment machines are programed for factory suspensions and yours should be manually entered for alignment. Maybe someone here had experience or maybe Eibach could provide you with the specs not 100% sure but the specs could be a little diff. Good Luck!
  8. i found the answer to my own question and would like to share it if anyone needs to know how to take off the bose speaker box to get to the strut mount brace for installing springs or struts. I found it at rennteam.com heres the link: http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0...p;page=1#397347
  9. Tried to search for any instructions on removing the top housing of strut/shocks on the rear to replace OEM springs with H&R lowering spring but could not find any. I could not figure out how to remove the rear speaker box so I could take out the struts/shocks. I have a 2003 996 c2
  10. Just got my car and key remote would not work. Is there a place where I could get this reprogram cheaper than the dealership. By reading a few posts it will cost me a hundred or so to reprogram it to the dealership. I am from Milpitas California. I'm not rich looking every way to save money..........any infos is greatly appreciated. Miko
  11. Help! I need to get a copy of the fuse plan. Mine never came with it. Got it used, and need to see if I could download a copy anywhere. thanks, Miko
  12. Hello, Someone recommended trying to disconnect and reconnect the battery. I was able to get the hood open through the emergency release. The alarm went off and I disconnected the battery immediately. I tried reconnecting the battery, but the alarm continued to go off. Will this continue to happen? Or do I have to wait a few minutes or hours before reattaching the battery? go get the alarm battery replaced, cost $2 . Maybe it has enough to light up the led but not enough juice to unlock your car

The alarm went off and I disconnected the battery immediately. I tried reconnecting the battery, but the alarm continued to go off. Will this continue to happen? 14. Just want to say hello and would like to introduce myself. Fist time owning a Porsche, 2003 996 C2 Coupe Black on Silver. After 3 weeks of looking I finally got one. My budget was for a 1999 996 was lucky to find a 2003 for same price range. The only thing wrong with it is the remote key won't work (probably needs programming, just change the battery), no Owners Manual and the cd changer is dead no power at all (hope it's just the fuse), I have no idea where to look since there's no manual. I was shopping and comparing this to a 2004 Mercedez E500 sport and 2005 545I BMW. All my friends and family tried to stop me from buying it.......coz the other cars is roomier and luxier with more options, they are all great cars but the porsche for me is something else. I'm amazed the way this car handles and pulls on the freeway. I and a friend bought and picked up this car in southern Cal and Drove it to Norcal and it was one of the best driving experince we ever had. He himself was negative about everthing at first and was pushing me to get the 545i. But after the drive he is shopping for one now. Just happy to be driving my dream car. miko
