  1. In my 2005 Cayenne V6, the trip odometer does not reset. I have pressed it down but it just stopped working in the past week or so. Anyone know how to fix this problem. Thanks.
  2. Hi, The best car cover is a custom made one just for your car. If you don't get a custom car cover then the cover will fly off if a little bit of wind gets underneath it. The company that makes custom covers is Covercraft. They have many different fabrics but the best one is the weathershield. It repels rain and also protects against sun. The fabric also lets the paint breath. I got my from Autosupermart.com cause they give free shipping, free bag and free cable lock. http://www.autosupermart.com/store/shop/br...covercraft.html
  3. Hi, Seems like many people are having this problem and the dealers don't know what it is or how to approach the problem. My noise is less then before now after changing the air filter and spark plugs, but its still there. I think we should contact Porsche directly before our engines fail, especially when they're out of the warranty period. Maybe we should start a online petition. www.petitiononline.com
  4. The jack points listed in the owners manual references using the emergency jack and placing it in the metal lip underneath the car. However, I use a hydraulic 3 ton jack and that caused some bending of the metal lip. I need to know if anyone has experience using the points that I show in my pictures... I read on pca.org that the big round silver washer is a jacking point... I would like to clarify this before I cause more damage to the metal lip.
  5. Hey, When I removed the pin that holds the brake pads in place, it was extremely difficult and took a long time. I had to hammer and hammer for 10 minutes at least. Seemed like the pins were really jammed in and the front pins were fatter on the ends than in the center, very hard to get out of the hole. Anyone have this problem?
  6. Can someone please tell me the correct points to jack the Cayenne. I have included pictures of both front and rear areas, and I am not clear as to which points are to be used. I would like to raise the vehicle and then put a jack stand underneath, what is the correct way to use both a jack and a stand on a Cayenne?
  7. RFM: I tried to locate this "ROLL" but didn't really know what to look for. Can you send me a picture of what to look for since I am a novice. Or perhaps mark on this photo the location of the part. Thanks.
  8. 2 - very carefully, bend the u clip attached to the strut and squeeze it out then pull it apart while sliding a small flat bladed driver ito the clip Mudman2: When looking at the picture of the clip the way it is, Can you tell me do you insert the flat screwdriver from the top or from the bottom of that tab that is facing out. I tried to lift that tab from the bottom side and even with a good deal of force, the wires did not separate, and the tab eventually broke.
  9. Can you tell me how to disconnect the brake wear sensor wire. I couldn't get this part disconnected and may have broken the connector. Is there some trick to it, Please advise.. thanks.
  10. RFM: I will try this later tonight. I want to report that about 2 weeks ago I changed the Air Filter (type K&N) in the car and this engine banging problem during a cold start was greatly reduced. Then last week I changed the spark plugs and this morning I didn't hear any of the banging. I don't know if this is just temporary, but normally it would happen everyday and for the past 1-2 weeks I didn't notice anything.
  11. Yeh I know its not normal, I have owned many cars. The dealer has checked it out several times and says he can't find anything. I show him the video and he says he has to be able to hear it (replicate it) himself. So I have let him keep it overnight and then the next morning he still says he can't hear it. Probably because he's checking it outside on the street where there is too much noise. In the quite, closed garage in the morning its very noticeable. It only happens in the morning (cold start). I have tried for 3 years now (on-and-off) to get this resolved.
  12. Thanks Loren, I called the dealer and they will take care of this problem for free even when my car is out of warranty because this was some known problem/recall.
  13. On the ignition coil closest to the windshield, there was all this white residue while all the other ignition coils where clean (silver color). Does anyone know what this means? Please see attached pictures. There is also a pic of new versus old spark plugs that have 55K miles on them.
  14. HI, I changed the plugs today and wanted to offer some advice. To remove the ignition modules you need to get AWL and bend the tip at a 90 degree angle. Then all you do is insert it into the locking clip and pull up slightly. Then the entire module just slides out without any force. In fact if you are using to much force to pull up on the locking clip you are doing something wrong. Its very simple with very little force. See attached pictures.
  15. Hi, A good cover for your budget is the NOAH material made by Covercraft. A similar cover but just a little cheaper is the Evolution material. Its custom made so it will fit perfectly and you can get a cable lock to prevent theft. I have ordered covers from Autosupermart.com before they are good. They give free shipping, free cable lock and free storage bag.
  16. Does anyone know how to fix this issue, I got this fault code: 1218 Side airbag triggering unit passenger's Short to Ground or Positive No signal / Communication Could cleaning the terminals or seat belt buckle fix this like it does in the boxster which always had a airbag light problem due to grounding.
  17. I ordered the spark plugs from the dealer and just wanted to get peoples opinion on why these cost so much. The retail is $19.95 per plug and they are the NGK iridium I believe. I have always used Bosch Platinums in other cars and they only cost around $5 per plug. Why are these NGK plugs so expensive?? Does anyone have a Bosch part number for a 2005 Cayenne V6, its not listed on their website.
  18. The problem only occurs at IDLE and in the morning. This usually happens for 3-5 minutes when I first start the car. I have never noticed it later in the day but then again I am outside (not in a quiet garage) and probably never notice. When I drive the car there is no sudden drop of power, no hesitation or anything like that. Car runs fine. Its just this banging sound that happens and the entire engine shakes violently from a cold start. Can you hear the sound in the video I took?
  19. The dealer got no fault codes and I also checked with a durametric and got no fault codes
  20. I took a video of the noise when I started the car up this morning. You can hear this banging noise after every 3-5 seconds and the entire engine shakes when this happens. If anyone has a idea what this is please let me know. The dealer can't tell even when he kept the car overnight because its probably not silent enough in his shop, whereas in my garage its very noticeable and loud. 21. I have a 2005 Cayenne V6. Does anyone have pictures on how to change spark plugs on a V6? I have read some posts about the Cayenne S but that is a different engine and more complicated than the V6. It looks like the on the V6 all the plugs are right on top in a straight line.. Also what are the part numbers for the spark plugs. I looked on Bosch and NGK's website and they don't have them for a Cayenne which is strange.. Has anyone used plugs other than what the dealer offers and if so what are the part numbers.
  22. On my 2005 Cayenne I have always had this problem with the engine knocking in the morning. This seems to die down after its warm. I took it to the dealer several times but they say everything is fine. Since I have other cars, I know this is not normal. The engine really shakes as makes funny noise as if something is not right. Could it have something to do with this coil cracking problem I have been reading about on rennlist? Any other possibilities? Can someone send me the tsb: Bar Ignition Modules (Coils) Thanks..
  23. I have a 2005 Cayenne V6 with about 52K miles. I got this check engine light and checked the fault code, it was P0455 EVAP SYSTEM LARGE LEAK. I reset it and it came back on a few days later. Can someone help me with this one.
  24. Can someone please tell me what these codes mean and how serious they are, I looked them up with a durametric and my warranty is going to expire in 500 miles.. so it'll be a good idea to get anything fixed soon. 9766 Unknown DTC: 9766 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17155 Unknown DTC: 17155 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 32280 Unknown DTC: 32280 10022 Unknown DTC: 10022 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P0456 Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (very small leak) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P0513 Incorrect Immobilizer Key --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
