  1. Got one! Thanks mate - you just saved me a lot of money!

Pleasure... you can buy me a beer next time you're in town :D

    Hairy,

Did u try cleaning it? There are sprays (mostly alcohol) that u can get at the autoparts stores that you can use to clean the electrode in the MAF.

Might save u some more $$.

  2. I got the beige colour crap on the top of the oil cap on my wife's Civic Si. I believe it is condensation as well.... I think it was when we we both had short commutes to work... (less than 2 miles).

    Engine ran fine...

All my other vehicles have spin-on oil filters, so I never actually looked at the contents of the filter....

    re: Blackstone.

I've done the analysis on my 1.8T Jetta (chipped)... Ericinboca is right... they do editorialize the results, and always "suggest" running another analysis in xxxx miles/km. I ran the analysis because I was leaning towards extending my oil change interval, because most of my driving is now commuting (30miles each way on country roads)

  3. ...bump

car is in Orland Park (Rizza Porsche)

    Thanks,

    P

Sorry to litter the board with requests about a car.... I'm thinking about going with the car, and getting a PPI done by Rennology in Chicago.... They are going to charge $200 for the inspection.... Sorry for all the questions, but does that sound right?

Any other suggestions in the Chicago area?

    Thanks,

    Peter

  4. I went to see a 2001 2.7L yellow boxster today.... It has 78K km (50Kmiles).

Car looks clean, has a couple issues with the top. Very nice 18" rims with good rubber on the front, and what looks to be brand new rubber on the rear.

It seems to me that u had to give it some gas to get it to start rolling from a complete stop (used to a 2003 CRV 5 speed, and a chipped 1.8T Jetta 5 spd)

Decent sound isolation at hwy speeds with the roof up.

    1. The rear window has a 2-3" rip along the edge. (looks like it plastic failed at the stitching in the top driver side corner of the window).... repair options (other than duct tape :) )

    2. A bit of white smoke on startup.... I believe that this may be normal for boxsters (due to the horizontal cylinders...) Smelled like oil, not antifreeze.....

  5. Some more airbag deactivation options for you.

Porsche airbag deactivation bar $226 USD, plus you need the child seat $530 USD. or search ebay.

Pfaff Porsche in Toronto installed and programed my deactivation bar at no charge. I paid $255 CDN for the bar 5 years ago and I picked up a used seat on ebay for around $75 USD. They do pop up on ebay quite often.

Do u still have the seat? Do u still need it?

  6. I'm in the market for a 2 seater convertible.... Got my eye on around 5yr old boxsters or 3-4 yr old S2000's.

I'm researching the airbag deactivation (or lack thereof) with the Boxster.

I've contacted the above company and they said that their switch works with the Boxster. Has anyone had experience with this?

I'm a DIY kinda guy, and kinda peeved that the Pcar may have (likely) an airbag program that has to be turned off by proprietary software....

The switch is about $160US, and will include installation instructions.

I have a 6yr old in the 45lb weight range, and a 3.5yr old that will soon graduate to a booster seat.... Canadian law requires a booster to 8yrs old or 80lbs whichever comes 1st.
