  1. Hi, I am in Northampton which is only about 30 minutes from Oxford now that the old A43 Trunk road has been upgraded (On the old road, It used to take up to 1.5 hours). Oxford is a great place and is still one of my favourite places to walk around, so much history, so much charm and so many places to just sit and have a coffee and soak up the atmosphere, so I fully understand your affection for it. Where are you based, are you in the States? we spend a lot of time road tripping over there.
  2. I guess I have one of these then ☹️ Just wish there was a way to disarm it.
  3. Thank you Judgejohn, I live in the UK and the garage is very small and a tight fit so need to get the car as close as possible to the wall, so that I can open the other door as wide as possible without taking paint off the car door on the opposite wall when getting out. Although I consider myself a good driver, I would be worried that I may damage the paintwork reversing in as it really does need to be close!!. Is there a way of disabling this self locking function?
  4. I am having trouble with my 98' C2 locking itself when left unattended for a week or longer. When I store the car in the garage, the drivers side is nearest the wall and I leave it unlocked, then exit the car out the passenger side. I do not touch the fob after this so I know it is not an accidental thing where I lock it after parking it When I returned to the car over a week later, it had locked itself and because of the time it was left, the key fob would not open it (I know this is a feature of these cars). As the car was near the garage wall, I could not open the drivers side with a key and there is no key slot in the passenger door. Fortunately, with some help, I managed to pull the car out enough to get to the drivers door. However, I want to leave the car unlocked and feel I cannot as I do not know why the car locks itself. I have searched in the drivers manual and even asked at my local main dealer thinking it might be a dealer activated feature, but they did not know anything other than what we already know, that the key fob does not work after an extended period where it is not used. I leave the car in the garage with the front lid up and a trickle charger attached, could this be anything to do with it? any help would be appreciated.
  5. Guys many thanks to all who advised. Took your advice and took it for a second opinion. Turns out not to be the pipework at all, but the tank as Loren suggested. All fixed now for a quarter of what the OPC wanted to charge. Thanks again simon
  6. My friend has just put his 2003 C4 into an OPC because it was leaking coolant fluid. At first, they said it was a couple of hoses needing replacement which they have done (quoted him £150.00). They then called back this evening and have told him that they have pressure tested the system and they 'think' there may be some pin holes in the pipework leading from the rear to the front of the car and that they will need replacing. They say in order to do this, it is engine out, wheels off etc and say it will cost in the region of £2.5k Advice required is 1) has anybody had this problem (assume it will be the same for the C2) 2) How much did it cost / was it done at OPC or independent 3) Is there an option to do a simpler fix Appealing for any help from you very knowledgable chaps on the forum Regards Simon
  7. Hi Thanks for the tip. Will check it out and come back to you Cheers Simon:thankyou:
  8. has not set their status

  9. Hi, tried searching to see if anyone has posted anything on this. I have a really annoying rattle coming from the back pf my 996 coupe. I thought originally it was the rear sear s rattling but my som got in the back of the car and he says it is coming from above, ie in the headlining. Anyone else experienced this, is there a fix.... it is driving me mad Thanks Simon
  10. Thanks Loren Now sorted and works fine. Thank you very much for the advice :D Regards Simon :renntech:
  11. Hi Loren BANG ON..... just ran a wire from the orange/Brown wire, pressed the brakes and it lit up. You are a godsend :D One last question, I have nowhere to ground the wire at the brake light housing end, so i will need to do it at the other. Do you know if the other end comes out at the rear light cluster in either sides wiring looms? Thanks again for your advice simon :renntech:
  12. Hi Loren, thanks for the reply. The spoiler has been removed. When i brought the car, it had a GT3 kit with the rear wing. The brake light I think is the original unit in the fixed panel just above the engine lid. I am not even sure it worked when i brought the car 6 months ago. I only noticed it was not working when i reversed against the garage door and saw no reflection
  13. Hi, I have a problem with my 3rd brakelight on my 1998 C2 in as much as it is dead. I have checked the actual light fitting/connector/bulbs and they are fine, so it must be the wiring. I could not see an independent fuse for the 3rd brakelight, rear brake lights work ok, so ruled out a blown fuse There are two wires behind the actual light (one Orange/Black the other Orange/Brown). I am trying to figure out where these wires go to. I assume the two wires go down to the tail light brakelights and feed from there. I have removed both rear light clusters, and it appears that there is an Orange/Black one feeding to each of the rear lights, but there is no Orange/Brown wire (where does that go??). Apologies, i am no vehicle electrician so i do not have any meters etc for testing wiring <_< I thought about feeding some new wire through, but there is no chance with such a confined space to work in (the aperture where the brake light fits), so my only hope is to try and work out if there is a loose connection in the wiring. Anbody got any ideas suggestions? Thanks Simon
  14. I had the same problem, popped down to my dealership and they removed the bulb from the dash, problem solved
  15. Hi, I had a similar problem with my Carrera 2 and it turned out to be a problem with the locking mechanism. Get someone to operate the lever as you push down on the lid at the same time, mine just popped open. Not saying it is the cause, but worth a try, you have nothing to lose Simon
