Try it with the PSM off...

My first thought was the water pump as well - recently had mine replaced
Your friend is correct they would have to prove it if a problem occurred and they wanted to blame it on the flash but that is not to say Porsche won't do it. GIAC is a great company and would be my choice if I had the cash (flashed several Audi's with GIAC), you also need to find out if you can change programs yourself to stock and back using a tool they provide or a PC. Last where does your friend have it serviced now...has he ever talked with his SA about it? As Loren said all dealers are different...some have no problem with it others do, they will let you know if you ask them.

97boxstered engine is a V6, not a V8 Turbo. Complete different engine.
Just noticed that...is it normal for the 6? Can't imagine it would normal for any motor, maybe normal for the cayenne though...

I took a video of the noise when I started the car up this morning. You can hear this banging noise after every 3-5 seconds and the entire engine shakes when this happens.
If anyone has a idea what this is please let me know. The dealer can't tell even when he kept the car overnight because its probably not silent enough in his shop, whereas in my garage its very noticeable and loud.
LINK:
Wow that is scary sounding - NOT normal and NOT present on my CT

The Turbos are largely responsible for the muffling - next would be secondary cats and then muffler. I am designing a set of straight pipes with no mufflers for my CT...my mechanic said he could pass it (PA) since the turbos qualify as mufflers. I am currently running a Supersprint muffler and it sounds pretty good...

Read the manual and do not destroy your transmission!! There is a key under the lower center compartment to unlock the park mode when there is no power for this very reason.

I had an issue with the parking brake light staying on last night. I pushed the brake back in several times thinking it would pop the brake out 'just a little more' and trigger the light to turn off but it didn't work. The light stayed on and it beeped at me the whole ride home (only about a mile). This morning the light was off and all has been well so far. Any ideas or similar problems?
I always have to pull mine out twice or pull it all the way out and hold for a few seconds to get the light off...

US MSRP is $487.01
For that price I would purchase the mObridge unit - it charges the iPod and allows control through the pcm and wheel.

I have fabspeed pipes on order but tonight I decided to remove the exhaust clamps between the 2nd cat and the muffler. Sounds awesome at idle but a little too nasty going down the road. Am thinking that after the bypass pipes maybe some straight through resonators might be all that is needed for a nice aggressive sound. I really can't stand the wimpy minivan-esque exhaust. Without the rear muffler you can almost hear the Porsche in the motor... there has got to be a sane way to unleash the beast.
Agreed - recently had my mechanic install a supersprint muffler and he said it sounded much better without any muffler...I am designing a set of straight pipes for it now...

Never seen one does that, mine must be broken also. No, before I replaced the unit, Range would stay up there even after shutting if off and then returning.
Yeah I have been trying to figure that one out since I got my CT last year and still have not found a way...always shows avg speed :cursing:

Hi,
Can someone explain how to remove the tray (non smoker package) under the climate control system and in front of the shifter? There are some coins lodged in the front of it.
Thanks in advance.
I have been trying to install mine for months - supposedly you just pull off the trim surround and there are 2 clips, 1 per side, on the ac unit that you need to unclip then pull the ac unit and there are 2 screws holding the tray in.
If you have any luck post back - if not can anyone clarify this for us!!

Aaronliu,
Thank you so much. That fixed it. I selected "Return to Factory Settings" and then reprogrammed both keys and now they both work. I have my selected Comfort settings for both keys and I don't lose them!! Thanks
Matt
:renntech:
How do you program the keys?
Thanks

Not the fan then - only stops when hitting off and starts at the first click on...

Finally found this post - I am having the exact same issue...I just need to do some of the test below to be 100%
Did you ever figure this one out? I am going to attempt to figure this out and can use any info you found so far...

Hi,Finally had the TSB1945 done at the workshop. Unfortunately the sound is still there. I did some more investigation:
- sound comes from the left (driver) side from the cayenne turbo.
- sound is best heard under the engine lid, left towards the dashboard (where the brake fluid (?) is)
- sound only appears when the engine is warm
- airco on off does not make a difference
- when the fan is off the sound is gone
- fan on and the sound is there
- when the temperature is set low the the sound is gone
- when the temp is set to warm the sound is back.
Sound is best described as a continuous humming sound. What is turned on permenantly (linked to the fan) and could make this noice (not the fan!!)??
Any ideas, I am slightly puzzled on this one.
(Air suction?)

If the sensors where missing wouldn't it show it the computer display? The option for tire pressure unit is there whether you have tpms or not at least that is the case with my 04 turbo.
JR

The power for your TPMS may be puling the voltage down, did you hook up to the fuse box or tap an existing circuit.
Per his install post it looks like he did...

I am testing it. Sounds great, not on final software load yet. I expect a couple of months yet
Bluetooth out now! anyone have it? and how does it sound, i know i hate talkin to people with bluetooth cars sounds horrible but wondering how this one does!Cheers!
Got this in a email today from mObridge regarding their bluetooth:
"For Porsche vehicles your vehicle must contain the PCM navigation system and internal
SIM card to take advantage of the phone functionality on MOST"
Does yours have a sim Mike?

It takes approx. 1 hour to change the water pump and makes the car roadworthy.
Invoice has it as 5.5 hours which was approved by 3rd party warranty - I am assuming that is accurate.
JR
-
Just wondering what mileage are on these units? Is the replacement pump an updated part?
2004 Cayenne Turbo...39,000 miles - pump replacement part# 948-106-011-04
I am guessing it is an updated pump since there where a lot of failures on the early ones.

Remove the glass ( pull out ) and the rear shell to get access inside the mirror, the bulb is the same as the side marker and the possition light.
That's what I needed thanks RFM...
I am assuming if I pry carefully on the mirror it will "pop" out?

When I dropped off the CT service writer said it was the water pump as soon as he heard the noise - he has it heard it many times before - will let you know how the repair goes.
JR
UPDATE: Work order states "coolant pump bearing major play" total price $774.10 - so nice to not hear that anymore...

It takes approx. 1 hour to change the water pump and makes the car roadworthy.
I called 3 dealerships and was quoted between $700-$800 parts/labor. Scheduled it for thursday.
I am scheduled for Thursday as well - dealer had the water pump in stock - this should be a good test for the 3rd party warranty I purchased for the CT lat year.

Another pic of the engine. Again i'm referring to the top most pulley near the intake manifold:
I have the exact same issue - from what I have read there is a water pump behind that pulley and they are known to go bad in the 04'
Will be taking mine to the dealer soon...
JR
Thanks for your reply. Did you get a quote on how much this job will be?
No quote as of yet - I will post up as soon as I find anything out...
