Todd, Great to hear you ar happy with the mods!! Also happy you like the Fabspeeds since I recommended them! Glad to be of help and enjoy your toy! Phillipj Phillip - you were DEAD on with the Fabspeeds. Except for them shipping the wrong tips (should get them any day), I LOVE the sound of them. Now I need to decide if the RSS Plenum is WORTH the $1000? I will probably "marinate" on it and decide a little later. I love the GIAC, short shifter, Fabspeed mufflers and the EVO CAI.

Thanks to this website, I've learned a ton and gotten great advice/feedback from several members. About 4-5 months ago, I bought another 911 (2000 996 CAB). I noticed when I got it that it sounded like a sewing machine so I've been on a quest to make the car sound better and add a little Hp. I ended up doing 4 things and the car is absolutely a different car (responsiveness, sound). 1. Did the GIAC performance tune/software update. 2. Added the EVO cold air kit 3. Changed the mufflers to Maxspeed Maxflo. 4. Put in the short shifter kit. The mechanic in Atlanta talked me into a knock-off of a B&M and I couldn't be happier. Less expensive and it's ergonomically better IMHO (it tilts so it slots into your hand much better). I ABSOLUTELY love my 996 now - I will probably do some addditional mods to the car but for now, I'm quite happy with the car and just wanted to share my results. I've been quoted Hp gains (by my mechanic) by doing these mods and because folks will argue this is nonsense, I will just say that the car is definitely much more responsive and the sound is exactly what I was looking for (quiet in the lower RPM's or higher gears but DEFINITELY barks at you if you step on it). I have a 2000 996 CAB and I'm going to buy Fabspeed mufflers for it and do the GIAC software update. I've read several posts regarding CAI's and plan to get one as well. The question I have is: Fabspeed has a cold air intake for around $225 - Evo seems to be a VERY popular intake but is a good bit more $$$. CAn anyone compare the two and will I get significant gains by spending extra $$$? I have no problem spending the money if it's worth it. Thanks in advance for your help. Another question while I'm at it - I plan to get a B&M SSK and install it myself. I looked at the instructions and it seemed VERY involved. Is it fairly straight-forward or should I just have a shop do it? Take care, Todd
