  1. Fie on you londoner06! I was perfectly happy with my '05 C2S, and now I want an '09!
  2. You'll have to forgive my gushing. This is my first car with anything over 200 bhp. It's by far, the most fun I've had behind the wheel of any car: even more fun than my late mom's (!) C-4 Corvette ("Mo-o-o-m-m, that's a 150 mph car. . . I'll be right over!")
  3. Faster'n stink, ain't it! I can't leave mine in the garage; it's a great grocery-shopping car! Welcome aboard!
  4. Ali, Do those new rims have new tires as well? With their huge and sticky contact patches, maybe they just need to wear in.
  5. I'd bet those big, fat tires are likely the cause. Same thing happens in my C2S: the pulling on cambered roads and streets, but no popping though.
  6. Woah! Que bella macchina!! Welcome to the forum, and congrats on you new acquisition! I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Just be careful; it's a rocketship!
  7. Just in case anybody wants to know, Boxter/Cayman mats are a perfect fit, because the floor pans are the same as the Carrera, and since there are only two of 'em, they're lots cheaper! The p/n for a pair in Sand Beige is 987-551-984-08-T43, and I paid $113 from a Porsche dealer in Pasadena, CA (Rusnak).
  8. My '05 C2S can scrape the air dam, so I just have to go slower up driveways. However, I think it's flexible enough to weather the occasional contact. Having to go slow: that's what really hurts. . .
  9. Are there any other indicators of caliper overheating, e.g. fading or pulling? And this is the first I've heard about not setting the parking brake while the brakes are hot. Most of my driving is moderate with the occasional hard dive into a corner, but I plan to take a high performance driving course, using my car (an '05 C2S 6-speed coupe), in the near future.
  10. I suppose the s/c voids the warranty, but I think it would be worth it to ask the Porsche service rep about it. Sounds to be an expensive fix.
  11. You can buy a set of manuals. Try Sunset Porsche (the Porsche parts link at the top of this page). Porsche replacement keys are EXPENSIVE, and I think are available only through a dealer. Even the little plastic pocket spare key ran me $200 +! And why didn't you DRIVE your new toy from L.A. to Seattle? It's a breathtaking trip up the coast, especially in something like a C2Cab! Congratulations and post some pics when you get the chance! Oh, and welcome to the forum!
  12. It's the CD. I have another of the same one in my home changer (I guess I really like that album!), and that one's been working without a hitch in the PCM.
  13. That's good to know, especially if I ever DO insert a CD in upside down (I've been known to do dumber things...), but if I kill the ignition for a few seconds, the CD player resumes full function when I restart. I'm inclined to think that it's the CD itself, and the problem seems to arise when it repeats to the first track. I've tried another CD (they're all originals and not copies), and it repeated with no problem. If yet another CD has no problem, I may just wash the offending one with a mild detergent and try it again.
  14. [quote name='dphatch' date='Dec 24 2008, 12:03 PM' post='126289' Glad to hear you solved the problem. Hope it was just a temporary gremlin. It did it again, but I switched off the ignition, waited a few seconds, heard a gentle clunk from the PCM, turned the ignition back on, and the CD started playing the first track again. I ejected it and examined the disc for any flaws or dreck, but there wasn't any that I could see, so I re-inserted it, and it played with no problem. I'll try another CD to see if it occurs again, and if it does, I'll take it to a Porsche dealer, because I still have a month or two on the original factory warranty.
  15. According to the fuse diagram list, there is a fuse for the PCM, and it's in Row D, F9. The diagram says that it's supposed to be a 7.5 amp, but there's a 10 amp in its place. Anyway, since the diagram was a bit confusing to me at the time (it still kinda is, but that's for another topic), I didn't pull any fuses, replaced the cover and started the car. I hit the Eject button for yells, and out came the CD! And it WASN'T upside down! Actually, I hit the button as soon as the PCM screen lit up and before the Main came up, and hit the button again after it did. Maybe all it took was for the ignition to be off overnight (or even momentarily), and of course, for the CD to be right side up!
  16. At least I THINK it's upside down, because the PCM says there's no CD in the player. Did a search, and learned that a solution is to remove the PCM fuse and replace it. Where is the fuse located, and will the entire PCM have to be reset? My car's an '05 C2S coupe with 6-speed. A detailed procedure would be helpful if possible. Thanks, and no remarks about the phantom rear wiper!
  17. To all those folks who read my post, I offer my deepest apologies; I don't even HAVE a rear wiper! I guess the transition from 118 to 355 bhp musta jarred something loose in my head, and I dreamt up the accidental operation. Please be kind to take pity on me. Rick
  18. When in reverse, can the wiper lever THEN be pushed forward to operate the rear wiper, or is the lever locked by the PIWIS setting?
  19. How can I get the rear wiper to work? The wiper lever won't move forward as the manual says it's supposed to do. I did it once accidentally a while ago. Does the car have to be in reverse? Does the function have to be set up on the PCM? My car's a 6-speed C2S with the rain sensor switch (neat!) but without Chrono.
  20. 355 ain't enough? It's more than enough to scare the stuffing outta ME! But then there's the '09 S and its 385 bhp. . . How about doing a power/weight ratio calcuation and start a lightening regimen that would get the lbs per hp down to the equivalent of a 400 bhp Carrera S?
  21. What are the part #'s for the removable carpet mats in the foot wells? The driver side needs replacement, because it's nearly worn through where the heel rests. The interior color of My '05 C2S Coupe is Sand Beige. Thanks.
  22. Same thing on my '05 C2S coupe. I think it has something to do with the windows dropping a few mm's to clear the seals before they move up to re-seat. I do find that if I close the doors a bit more gently, I don't get that >clunk<. I tend to overlook it, because the thing is so **** much fun to drive! It IS a sports car after all.
  23. Can't wait to give it a try. Is that "sport" on the PASM only? The car certainly feels more controllable when I punch it, say, on some of the more windey parts of L.A.'s Mulholland Drive.
  24. I think I saw that on E Bay :D A Gurney Porsche? (and I don't mean Dan) I'm getting the hang of it. Like heel-and-toeing, it just takes practice. Haven't bent like that in a long time.
