  1. NICE!!! thanks so much. I'm ordering them now as we speak. what tips are those? The new fabspeed duals? I orginally wanted to get the cargraphic exhaust, but sounded way too agressive for my wife. The fabspeed bypass pipes and tips seem the way to go! thanks again
  2. Thanks for your reply! actually, I'm pretty sure it wasn't stock. When I first heard it coming by, it sounded very nice and throaty but when he stomped on the gas I heard that kind of hallowy rattling like the old dynomax exhausts on Honda CRXs back in 1992. What I'm looking for is a sound bite of a fabspeed equipped Cayenne revving through the low to mid range rpms. I think the video on the Fabspeed website shows a CTT with exhaust and bypass. It's kind of hard to hear whether or not there is resonance beacuse by the time he hits the higher rpms, the cayenne is way out of reach from detailed audio. It sounds like you have no qualms about yours though...
  3. Hey guys, I'm looking for someone in Southern California who has the Fabspeed bypass pipes installed on their Cayenne S or Turbo. I have a Cayenne Turbo and am very interested in getting the pipes, but I want to know what they sound like. I'd really appreciate it if someone wouldn't mind taking 15 minutes out of their day to help me make my decision. The reason I don't want to take the risk and just buy them is because my wife mainly drives it. We were driving one day and a Cayenne S passed us on the street doing about 60mph and it sounded horrible. His car had a throaty sound to it but seemed to exhibit a "rattling resonance" at high rpms. He didn't have an exhaust, so I derived that they MAY have been the Fabspeed pipes. If that is they way they sound, count me out. My wife would go nuts and probably die of embarrassment if her Turbo rattled down the street. thanks in advance for your help! I'm willing to drive out to you for your convienence. :notworthy:
  4. WOW! your CTT looks fantastic! ONce I get mine lowered and exhaust fitted, I'll post some pics too. thanks for your help! did the ride get considerably firmer in the lowest height setting and the normal dampning mode?
  5. ok, today was weird. When I left home, I was still discouraged on how quiet the PSE was sounding. BUt, wehn I was coming home, it was noticebly louder! exactly what I was hoping it was going to sound like. Is there a chance that with the PSE "OFF" it seals it off completely thus making it quiently stock, but when it's "ON" the baffle door only opens a little thus keeping it fairly quiet? And that door maybe a little loose, causing the loudness to actually flucuate? does my hypothesis sound about right? I was feeling really bummed, because I feel as though I dropped about $2500 for an exhasut that sounds "so-so". I think my E500 with the RB tech exhaust sounds better. then today it sounded great! there is gotta be a correctable solution.
  6. Yup, I did the hack to eliminate the speed cutout. thats a good idea. I don't think I can check for leaks myself. so do you think there is a possibility that the baffle is not opening completely?
  7. Hey, I recently had ANDIAL Racing install a PSE with switch on my 40th. I opted for the switch since my wife likes to roll stock when she drives it. So here's my problem, I understand that there are baffles inside the muffler that are controlled by vacuum lines via switch. But sometimes the PSE sounds louder than some other times. :( Since I have the switch, I'd like it to be as loud as possible! Is there a way to tune the baffle? Is there a possibility that the baffle is loose and that with the PSE 'ON' it's not completely open, thus varying the sound? Before I installed the PSE, I had the Evo intake. To be honest, lately, the sound difference with the PSE and stock with the evo intake is very close. But, anywhere above 4,500 rpms, WOW! So what do you guys think? How about you guys that had it installed w/o the switch? is it pretty loud? HELP!
  8. update: so I talked to Mike from MA Shaw and he confirmed that it is one of his spoilers. I guaranteed that i would have no problems and that it had been speed tested. He said that it is exactly replicated from a factory original. he continued that I could go to his bodyshop where they completed all of their work for their customers vehicles. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hopes this all works out.
  9. ah, gotcha. I'll see what they have to say and if I can exchange it for the OEM one. My intial intentions were to buy the OEM carrera wing, but the owner of departstop.com said the replica was "just as good" and the OEM would eventually start to sag in the middle... <_< thanks Loren!
  10. WOW, the was quick. --and from the man himself. thanks Loren for your reply. I got the wing from departstop.com and I think it may be the same one the MA Shaw sells. It replaces the articulated spoiler and utilizes the stock decklid. The carrera wing also came with 2 wires for the third brake light, and a wiring harness which I believe is used to eleminate the 3rd brake light problem you had mentioned. one other problem I'm incurring is that it looks like there SHOULD be some sort of mounting bracket that attaches the wing to the stock decklid. departstop.com has no idea if it comes with one or not. ...that worries me. The body shop insist that there should be something besides 2 small screws to hold it on. I had read in one of the threads that mentioned the mounting holes may differ from year to year on the 996 rear decklid. I plan on contacting MA Shaw on tuesday to see if they supply to departstop.com and try to get some answers. So, I'd like to try to take off the spoiler first and try to see how everything lines up, so I see if I need to try to return or exchange it. thanks!
  11. Hi, I wanted to see if anyone has detailed instructions on how I can remove the stock articulated spoiler on my 40th anniversary 996. I'd like to replace it with the fixed carrera spoiler. I'm assuming the bodyshop is going to need to fit and modify it a bit before the install (aftermarket pieces never seem to fit exactly as promised), so I'd like to drop it in to see how "off" it's going to be before I go any further. I have some other goodies going into the car this week. I'll post pics soon! thanks in advance for your help.
  12. oh yeah, I paid $250 including an alignment for the install.
  13. Not quite sure if they differ at all. The cargraphic rep said that they may be some slight tweeks to the cargraphic set since they were produced exclusively with cargraphic specs. yup, they sure make the cayenne handle beautifully.
  14. Had the Cargraphic set (by H&R) on my Cayenne before trading it in for a Cayenne TT. I really liked the way they felt. Very planted and reduced body roll quite a bit. I hate to admit, I actually like the way they feel better than the stock air suspension on the TT. The only thing is that it gets a bit harsh when hitting bumps on the freeway (nearly knocked my wife out of her seat a few times). It was my wife's car and she learned to bear with it...even with the 20" wheels.
  15. Hey Guys, I'm new to the forum and want to thank you all of you for the knowledge and laughs that you've shared. alright, before I start to tear up... Is there a hack that allows you to manipulate the OEM air suspension to allow you to drive with the "loading level" selected? the lowest level setting (that's driveable) isn't low enough for me --aesthetically. with the "loading level" selected, it brings the Cayenne down a significant amount that looks killer. However, you can't drive around with this setting. As soon as you hit 5 mph, it automatically raises. I suppose I could roll on the freeways at 3mph, but not sure that's legal (gotta check state highway laws...) oh yeah, I plan on getting the module to lower it even further, but even with that I'd like to be able to drive with the modified "loading level" height.
