  1. I bought the silverish bulbs for my replacement turn signals up front (litronics headlight) and it doesn't matter what the bulb color is because the headlight itself has an amber lense in it. When I pulled the bulb out it was clear, I put the new ones in anyway but they obviously didn't make a difference. I thought all litronics assemblies would allow a clear bulb at the bottom. Is there a way to remove this amber lense piece inside the assembly?
  2. I'd like to add a little bit of clarification/revision/detail for future members going through this process. First off, in order to remove the bumper you have to remove the bumperettes first. If you look underneath them you will see one allen bolt attaching each bumperette to the metal brackets attached to the bumper re-enforcement. These are 6mm. I don't remember the exact size. You do not have to completely remove these bolts to get the bumperettes off. You will loosen them about halfway and the top of the bumperette will come unhinged and fall outwards toward you. (Note: to reinstall, thread the allen bolt in about halfway, hang the bumperette on, then tighten.) Once the bumperettes are off you can remove the bumper. My configuration was 75% similar to the diagram listed above but the bottom was completely different. My car is a '99 so perhaps they changed it on the '01+ cars. The top is obvious, four philips head screws inside the motor compartment that attaches a metal plate and the top of the bumper to the car. Unscrew those. Next under the wheel well on each side there is one allen bolt closest to the tire. I used a 4mm allen wrench. I had a little trouble getting to the bolt with the car on the ground so I jacked it up enough to release the suspension and I was able to unscrew the bolt without having to take off the wheel. These were the only allen head bolts on the bumper on my car. Next on the bottom edge of the bumper on the side of the car there was only one philips head screw. The diagram shows two, but mine may have been removed previously and never reinstalled. This is obviously minor. Here is the part that was not at all similar on my car: The bottom edge rear of the bumper was made for 4 holes not 3 like the diagram shows. I looked under the car and there was only one place were I saw three bolts and as I found out later they connected the heat shielding to the rear of the car. I removed two of them to see if I could release that side of the bumper and it was still hung on something. Come to find out there were two screws (in the outer two of four holes), one on each side of the bottom rear edge of the bumper holding it on. I removed those and the bumper came off. I reinstalled the two bolts for the shielding after I realized that they were not part of the removal process. Hopefully this will save some confusion for someone in this process. Thanks for the diagram, I couldn't have gotten the job done without it. Nazz
  3. I did a search and didn't quite find what I was looking for. For the front, with the 3rd radiator DIY bumper removal steps work for a stock front bumper or is it different? Is there a DIY for removing the rear stock bumper? The car is a '99 C4 manual, no sensors. Thanks, Nazz
  4. Thanks! Is it something that I can reach from under the car or does it require a lot of work?
  5. Do you have a part number for this piece so I can get it from the dealer? Is this something that I can get to without having to remove any other parts underneath the car? Thanks.
  6. Is there a DIY for this or something that we can see to know where and what to look for? Thanks, Nazz
  7. Any idea what this part number is? 996-505-983-02-G2X
  8. Does anyone have the part number for the '99-'00 GT3 front bumper? Thanks, Nazz
  9. I bought the car used. Is a sender something that is proprietary or is it something that can be programmed to my car at the dealership? How much do they cost? Thanks, Nazz
  10. I went to the dealership and they have to order this piece for me and I want to change my oil this weekend. I was at Advance Auto and they had several oil filter wrench tools but couldn't tell me what size I needed because they don't sell that filter. Their sizes ranged from something like 60mm to 93mm or so. Does anyone know what size it takes to remove a oil filter housing for a '99 996 C4? Thanks, Nazz
  11. When I bought the car it only came with the one key. At $300.00 each, I haven't been motivated to buy another. :)
  12. My keyless stopped working. The battery is fine, the light on the key fob still flashes, I've held the key up to the windshield pick up sensor and it still doesn't work. Is this common? Any ideas? Thanks, Nazz
  13. I have the same problem and the tranny hasn't been pulled that I know of. Is this an easy thing to fix? The dealer told me $100.00 to do it.
  14. I have one that is on and one that isn't. How do I go about turning the other one off? These bulbs work on my friends boxter.
  15. Update. When I turn on my high beams, the bottom light comes on. That is the only time that bulb works. Could it be the switch? If so, is that relatively easy to replace? Has anyone else had an issue with the switch? Thanks, Nazz
  16. Checked the fuses and they are all fine. The wiring looks good too. Any other suggestions? Is this something that might show up with a computer diagnosis? Thanks, Nazz
  17. I noticed that the plug only had three of the four pins, is that supposed to be that way? If not, how do I fix it? No tranny or engine pulls lately. They just stopped working. I'll check the fuses tomorrow. Just seemed odd that all of this has happened recently. Thanks for the info! Nazz
  18. I have my driverside "city light" out. It's the bulb that's on with the parking lights just under the Litronics bulb. I pulled it today and it isn't blown. I replaced it anyway just in case and it still doesn't work. It worked when I bought the car and the wiring looks okay inside. I've also had my reverse lights stop working. I pulled those bulbs as well and they were fine too. Any ideas? Thanks, Nazz
