  1. I had the same problem. Do both tail lights work? Turned out i had a faulty relay which just happened to be the one people splice a wire near for a poor mans drl mod.
  2. This may be more of the issue- I noticed today that when the car is not running, the pedal is absolutely fine. When the car is at idle, the pedal is much, much softer, and almost sinks to the floor when pressed, a very soft feeling. Has anyone else had this brake booster problem?? Tilley Exact symptoms my friend had. Try to spray water between the windshield and front hood (simulating car wash and raining). Then open your hood and remove the black plastic cover that covers the battery compartment. Now look at the brake booster area. Try to see if you see a puddle of water in that area and see if it's possible for water to creep into the booster through the bellow. If you have a puddle build up, your drain hole is clogged and you need to unclog that. There should be one drain hole close to that area. Thanks. I did that but didn't see any water. I think I will order a booster and have it installed.

  4. Hi Loren, I had the brakes flushed and the fluid changed last year. I am going to take a look at the bushing and the push rod tomorrow in the daylight. I washed the car before putting it away for the winter, but I am pretty sure it was completely dry. I'll report my findings tomorrow- thanks for the reply!!
  5. Hello, I have taken out my 99 996 from winter storage. I noticed while driving that the brake pedal was being sticky- needed help getting back to the top.... Had to put my foot under it and push it up... if that makes sense!) Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas of what would be causing this? I was wondering if this is a sign of the calipers being a bit rusted and sticking? I was too nervous to drive it more than a block or two, just in case it was something serious. Thanks for your help!
  6. I had my car (99 996 C2 coupe) idling for about 20 mins this morning, and noticed that both exhaust pipes, in addition to maybe more exhaust than normal, had also been dripping water. (NOT coolant- it was not sweet, nor orangey in colour) The amount would probably be a total of about 1/2 cup per side. I watched things progress, and there was a consistant two - three drops per minute. I drove the car around the block, and the same problem kept occuring. Is this normal? Also, I noticed that at idle, my oil pressure was only about 2 bar or so. When the revs were increased, the pressure went almost immediately up to 4.5-5 bar. Is this normal? Thanks for the help- I am obviously new to the Porsche world and this site is a great resource! Thanks again.
  7. Thanks, Loren I appreciate your comments. Does anyone know if the relays that are installed for the DRL are side respective? (ie if I remove one and swap it with the other one, will that diagnose the bad relay? Also, is this a common symptom of the headlight switch? The side only stays dark when the switch is off... What about the DRL hack that jumps the relay? With my DRL equipped car, will that still work, and therefore eliminate the right side from being dark? Thanks!!
  8. I have a 99 Canadian C2 coupe with the standard halogen headlights. When I turn the car on the DRL's activate.... on the left side only. All of the parking lights, signal lights, and other lights activate when the parking light switch is turned on.... But with the headlight switch in the "off" position, only the lights (city lights side markers and rear lights) on the left side are illuminated. I have taken the headlight on the right side off, cleaned the contacts and replaced it. The lights DO come on occasionally, but only about 1/10 times. Does anyone have any advice? Are the two relays for each side of the car respectively? (Is it possible I just have a bad relay for the right side??) Many thanks in advance!
  9. My apologies, I am located in Alberta Canada. I have amended my profile. Thanks.
  10. I have just purchased a 99 996 C2 Coupe. Great car, but it already (<500km) has blown a coolant overflow tank. I have looked on this board at the issues with the motor, RMS, etc, and the thought of a warranty came to mind. I have 90,000km on the car, does anyone know of where a Warranty could possibly be purchased? Am I crazy to think such a thing is available? Thanks and looking forward to more great reading on this board. Tilley
