  1. Correct - it will also not protect you if you spin the car and don't get the clutch in fast enough (you can actually run the engine backwards by spinning the car backwards too).

    Loren,

Why no shift gates as in other exotics to help prevent the "money shifts" ?

    Thanks,

    Ed Sanders

  2. Re: Gt3 2004 Rev Limiter

Rev Limiter stage #1 activates at what RPM ?

  3. I have been told that the 929 S calipers are a direct replacement for the original stock calipers, only requiring that you to replace the stock rotors with larger ones to accommodate the larger "S" calipers. Wheel clearance is not an issue, as I am running later 993 wheels.

    True or false ?

    Thanks,

  4. Fault code 9114 PCM2 timeout (if control unit coded)

    Possible cause of fault

    - PCM2 in production mode.

    - Due to a faulty component, the PCM2 system has switched off or is faulty

Does your PCM work? If not, then make sure everything is properly plugged in.

If it does work it could be a fault that has since been corrected and the fault was not reset. In that case just clear the fault and see if it comes back.

    Loren,

I am a little confused regarding the difference between the ECU and PCM... and their location. What symptom should I look for to determine that it is functioning properly ?

    Thanks,

    Ed

P.S. Thanks for the great source to Porsche fans.

  5. I am a new owner of the Durametric diagnostic tool. I have located fault codes, 9114 PCM, 38 DTC. I was unable to locate on Renntech any info regarding them. Anyone know where to locate info regarding fault codes ?

    THANKS,

    ED

  6. Beware of the dealer!!

    Greetings Phillij,

Are you familiar with any trusted/reputable techs in the Pasadena area or do I look towards Torrance or Costa Mesa? As you have suggested I too am amenable to reputable independent tech services

    Regards,

    Ed

  7. Hi Ed.... Congrats on your GT3 ownership. I am the original owner of an '04 GT3, and have several friends that do, or have owned MKII GT3s. We have ALL had issues with clutch chatter. All of us have had dealer techs evaluate them. All have been told that the chatter is not bad enough to warrant replacement.....and, really, although the chatter can be annoying, it's not really that bad (our experience). I found that I quickly learned the throttle/clutch/engagement process that avoids the chattering. Our experience, like yours, was primarily a chatter in reversing. The clutch design in the GT3 is quite 'heavy duty', as your left leg can attest....and, that probably contributes to it's tendancy to chatter. Drive, and Enjoy!

    Good morning ,

Thanks for your helpful information. Less anxiety is always good !

    Thanks,

    Ed

  8. 2004 996 GT3, 18000 mi.

I am a recent second owner with unknown tract time on vehicle. Can anyone give me an explanation as to why I am having substantial clutch chatter/vibration in reverse gear only, without any chatter in forward gears. Dealer stated needed new clutch job, $4000.00.

    Thanks,

    Ed
