  1. Thanks - I checked the fuse (3rd one along Row E) and it wasn't blown. I replaced it anyway, no luck. This might sound odd, but it seems that I maybe lowered to seat "too low" and it's kinda stuck. the control unit for the up / down / back / forward seemed to have "popped out" from the seat and so i snapped it back in, but it still isn't working. The really strange thing is that the manual catches at the top of the seat that allow you to tilt the seat forward don't seem to "catch" when pulled upward - meaning I can't tilt the seat manually either. Is it possible that I have accidentally lowered the seat "too low" ? Hmmmm.
  2. I'm sure this is a quick one for you experts out there..... When I was driving home tonight, I tried to adjust the seat position - NOTHING. The drivers seat won't move using the forward, back, up or down controls. No power at all. The passenger seat is fine. I'm sure it's just a fuse - well, I hope so. Anyone have any ideas ? As always, your help is very welcome.....
  3. Thanks again to all of you for the advice. I will order the replacements and have at it ! p.s. Here's the "mangled gravel guard" - for those who were interested ! It was a sunny day here today in Maryland, so I took her top off and let her rip !!! SO happy to have her back !
  4. WOW ! Thanks so much for the quick response. That is EXACTLY what I meant. So, I am imagining it or are they the pieces where the rear drains lead to ? Again, thank you for your help. :D
  5. So, some of you may remember that my Boxster got mangled in a recent ice storm here in Maryland. I got her back today and she looks great - with one exception....the plastic guard close to the rear wheel arch that seems to be the outflow for the rear drainage tube is still mangled - perhaps they missed it in the body shop. It's kinda like a triangular piece that connects by two screws underneath. Anyone have any idea where I can get one and how easy they are to replace ? thanks....
  6. Thanks for the responses everyone. After the initial shock, I'm more positive now as I have hooked up with a guy who runs Zamoras body shops in Maryland and he seems to think that the damage isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It seems that she's on the road to recovery. It's amazing how attached I got to the car in only 12 days...... Thanks again all.
  7. Well, I had my Boxster for exactly 12 days before some jack-*** ran me off the icy road tonight here in Maryland. I touched the brakes, did a 180-ish, and slammed right into the high-side kerb. I ended up staring at my Boxster, looking at the back wheels slammed right up against the wheel arch and with fluid pouring from the front. It doesn't look good :( Luckily, my insurance say I can take it to any shop. I wonder if this includes Porsche dealers ? I don't want any old body shop working on her. Anyone have any ideas of a good shop (non-dealer) to take her to in the Frederick, MD area ? Cheers, Britkid (p*ssed)
  8. Great ! Thanks much Loren. For the record, it's Lapis Blue metallic :-) Now, I wonder if I can find a hardtop on ebay :o
  9. Hi all, I was hoping one of you guys could help me (again) ? I'm trying to find out if there is a way to identify the exact color of my Box. I am sure it will be in the documentation somewhere - but I can't find it. I am looking for a hard-top but obviously I need to match the color. It's a 2002 Box, that's kinda like a midnight-metallic blue. I checked out the "External Paint Colors" section but I can't really work out what's what. Any help would be appreciated. Peace... Britkid
  10. Thanks - I had actually tried that already. From your advice, I re-opened the key took a better look at the circuit board and specifically the three silver blocks that form the contacts between the "lid" of the key and the circuit board. I actually noticed that there was a bad contact between the main 'lock / unlock' button and the circuit board itself. Even though the LED came on, it didn't look right so I stripped down the electronics and re-seated the contacts. A little re-alignment and a little solder helped and it works perfectly now - the lock / unlock, front and rear compartment unlock - all is great. I also dug around some more on the link you provided (fearing that my "alarm" / locking problem was due to water damage) and found some guidance on checking the drains on the top-storage compartment. I ran some water through the drain holes and they seem fine - no clogging. I was really worried when I saw the water leak problems. I had a BMW Z3 in the UK that was always leaking water in and shorting out the alarm. It really was a piece of ****. I would never have another BMW, so that's why I went for the Box ! Thanks again for the help, I hope my problem fix may help someone too. The "key" to the problem - check the contacts between the silver blocks inside the key and the circuit board itself - there is a tiny silver square (looks like foil) that is critical. Even though the LED flashed, it wasn't a proper contact..... See ya, Britkid
  11. Hi All, Love the board - soooo helpful. I just bought a 2002 Boxster that seems (fingers crossed) to be in good condition with only 40k miles. I am a Brit, fresh to the USA, so bear with me ! I have a couple of questions for the experts on the board, please : 1) My remote control keys don't work. When I press the unlock / lock button, the LED flashes but nothing locks or unlocks. If I lock the car with the key in the drivers door, it seems to lock the car and the alarm light on the dash flashes, but when I go to unlock it, the alarm goes wild immediately. I looked in the owners manual, but there seems to be nothing there. It does mention that if you unlock the car with the key rather than the remote control, you have 10 seconds before the alarm goes off - not on my Boxster - it goes off right away. Anyone have any ideas whether it is just a battery in the key or something more sinister ? 2) I read a lot on the board about water leaks and such affecting the alarm system due to water gathering on the control unit. As far as I can see, there is no previous water damage / leakage to my vehicle, but I would like to know how to do a simple check of the drain function. Can someone please tell me how to do that ? Thanks for your time.... Britkid
