  1. Right folks, thanks appreciate your thoughts and advice so good to get quick responses when things like this are bugging you. Was in to VW corrado's for years and the forum i used to use for the was fantastic for help and advice and from the quick responses here it seems this forum follows suit. Juts had all the covers to the engine compartment out (for the fist time - what a ballache) and the alternator was visibly vibrating, quick tighten up on the belt tensioner pulley and noise has disappeared - this explains why more noise happened with varying electrical load. One to log for future reference - amazing how much the noise transmitted right through the engine area to the back end with all the covers on and the front sound deadening in place. On appearance you would never have though the rattle was coming from the front of the engine Regards Edd
  2. Hi All, 40k 2002 boxster engine has developed a rattle/rumble at the rear, very hard to tell exactly where from but it seems to be kind of erratic and not tinny like a heat shield. Rattle is most noticeable when stationary and seems to go when engine is rev'd or when on the move. What is odd is that the rattle is distinctly worse when there is high electrical load i.e. it appears or gets more prolific if you turn the A/C on or if you press close on the electric window up switche when the windows are already closed. Has any one got any ideas Thanks Edd
  3. Car decided to play up last week due to a flat battery. Deduced through a voltmeter across the battery that the alternator/vr had failed as there was a reading of 12.8v with engine off and 11.8v with the engine running. Quicky followed by flashing dash lights, erratic spoiler etc So 3 days in a car garage, 30 miles and approx £680 later!!!!! (inc new battery and new alternator) have exactly the same problem, Having not carried the work out myself is the voltage regulator integral to the alternator would it be exchanged (provided) with the new alternator. I am furious with myself for not checkin the voltage readings having received the car back from the garage to see it was all working. If the VR and alternator were replaced as an integral item and are presumed to be "okay" when fitted is there anything that could cause either the new alternator/vr to fail due to the cars operation? Edd
  4. did you source the problem with regards to the original water leak. I too have a very wet door card, drivers side specifically at the bottom front.
